Bored and want a good MMORPG that i can play in my spare time

Hi All,

I don't have a whole lot of time to research the best MMO's out there, so i want to see if you guys can help.

I'm looking for a good MMO that i haven't played yet.  It could be free or pay, don't care.  For what i want, i'd expect to pay for it but if a free MMO does the same... GREAT!  Here is what i like:

-near photo-realistic graphics as possible (don't like the direction WOW has shot all the MMO's in... cartoonish graphics)

-fun gameplay.  I don't like to do a whole lot of grinding, but i will so long as it stays fun

-PVP  My favorite game in the past has been Dark Age of Camelot due to the PVP/RVR

Of the games i'm waiting on, my most anticipated are the following:

-Pirates of the burning sea

-Huxley

-Warhammer (not a big fan of the graphics here but i think the gameplay will rock because of Mythic)

So i'm looking for something to play while i wait on these.  I'm seriously thinking about just picking up GuildWars but i want to send out a note to the "experts" before.  :-) please don't let me down!

    Hey Steven12,

Thanks for the offer.  I played COV during beta and it was fun for a while.  I got bored of it though pretty quickly.  Thanks for the offer though!

What games have you played, i mean Guild Wars is a good free game with awesome realistic graphics and also got brilliant PVP with the added extra of missions, quests and dungeon type areas. I'd definently reccomend it! Free doesnt mean its cheap and taccy well at least not for GW.

GW is nothing more then cheap team based PVP though, not much PVE in the background and they never raised the level cap, which is why I never bought the expansions. The PVP can be fun in it at times but it gets old at times.

Your the kind of person that doesn't really read or do some research about a game before trying it or commenting on it. If you had you would have realized that they were never going to raise the lvl cap. Also I think you are confusing some other game because GW PvP is not a "cheap team based pvp". It does have lots of Pve in the background too.

For the OP I recommend you try GW before buying just to see if having private areas just for you wont take your fun factor away. If you do like the game but only the PvP part you can buy a PvP edition only that includes everything needed to play in PvP(wont play PvE though).

Well only other games that come to mind that have no cheap cartoony graphics are Anarchy Online, Voyage Century Online, upcoming Granado Espada american version(I cant remember the name), and perhaps Rappelz. Ohh and Lord of the Rings Online.

They may not have the super realistic graphics or something close to GW graphics but they are not cartoony either and some are free so you can try and delete if you dont like.

I did play the original GW for a good while, played my War/Mo, grabbed all the Elite Warrior skills and randomly teamed up with guildies now and then trying to farm drops. There just was never enough PvE in the game to keep me playing, and the PvP never held my attention for too long. Was pretty fun in short bursts but never got to into it. Then once I heard about the new expansions I heard they weren't raising the level cap and I just slowly stopped playing it entirely.

Was a pretty fun game for a while but they needed more PvE content to bolster the PvP, and really should have raised cap for expansions, even if it meant making new arenas to fight in on the new areas where 1-20's couldn't enter. If they had done this I probobly would have grabbed an expansion. I loved how they did the cinematics and everything, but never being able to get to a new cap, just killed my interest.

Given the above, I wouldn't recommend either AO or MxO. They're fun for a month or so, but are really repetitive like CoH/CoV.

However, MxO has more depth (in character development and such) to keep you busy for a while longer and AO even longer than that.

AO is free, if I recall, so that could be a good safe haven. I played it for a good while.

    [EDIT]

Oh yeah. GW is pretty cool in that same vein.

The above all carry caveats that you do not like PVP. If you do, then any of them would probably work for a bit longer.

Guild Wars is mainly for PVP i agree, i also got bored of it due to that but even that i played it for about 6months before i got bored, thats longer than most mmorpgs ive played(the only other mmorpg which i spent more time on was WOW which i spent around a year and a half on, but it still has a pretty decent based pve aswell. But hving said that the guy asked for a PvP based game, not PvE based. ;)
