I saw this article about a husband and wife who were regular EVE players. The wife was fatally shot recently in her own house by someone who broke in. The arcticle goes on to say how the EVE community has reached out to the family in there darkest hour. To me this has renewed my faith in the goodwill of the online gaming community. There are many, many good people who play online games but it seems that only the bad get the headlines or attention. I've had the privalige of meeting some of those good people in the few MMO's I've played. I never played or know anyone who plays(ed) EVE but I salute those people from the EVE community who are there for these folks during their time of mourning and I would like to express my condolances to them as well. Here is the link to the article.

anyways!...
May beachie88 be remembered forever ,as her named is carried across the universe remembered, never forgotten, lighting up the stars. May we never forget where we come from and where we are going..
his loss truly hits home as I play EVE pretty much every day and I too become very close to other players they are like family. Hisfamily are in my prayers.

This is a tragedy and The Eve Community, especially those who knew her personally have a right to grieve and mourn the loss of someone who's life ended earlier than it should of......
Its a tradegy any time someone's life is ended early, each and every time, and this is true even if they are murderers themselves, their family grieves their deaths.....
My personal wish is that we had one day of the year when people would stop murderering each other, just one day, in which was holy and the world wouldn't intentionally kill each other, no matter what, for this one day.....
ongoing wars would have a one day peace that both sides accepted, and anything that could remotely result in casualties like armed robberies, etc would also be postponed....
Its a sad fact but more deaths are caused from starvation and from viruses and other diseases than from people killing each other...granted if we really tried we certainly could cause more destruction, too many nations have nuclear weapons, and my hope is that we are civilized enough and responsible enough as the human race to never use them ever again....and that those with limited food supplies should limit the number of children so that starvation is lessened...
Life is a blessing, and every day of that life is a blessing, so enjoy each and every day, and enjoy your life. Do not dwell on the bad, look at the good, for there is still much to be joyful for.
We should as a community remember this person, but this person wouldn't want us to remember them sadly. Think fondly of the memories and adventures you shared, and although I'm not a big enough man to turn thy cheek and forgive, I believe in an eye for an eye, I hope that ther murderer is brought to justice....

The game is dead not, this game is good we make it and Romania Tv give it 5 goat heads, this is good rating for game.
oh and dont say you want a world without death because if youv ever seen the twighlight zone it woudnt be fun
genius inside insanity
don't put words in my mouth, what I said was one day without us murdering our own people....people killing people isn't cool, and it would be nice if there was one day in a year when this activity stopped...
we all have to die eventually, and even if you fixxed our DNA so it extended our life (bad idea to fix DNA to never die), you'd still have deaths from accidents, drowning, car accidents, etc......
Fixxing your DNA so you never died I think would cause more problems than it solved, who knows what diseases it would cause, and what unknown ramifications, not counting you'd still die, just not from natural causes of your cells wearing out......currently our DNA is programmed to only reproduce so many of itself before they die, so eventually cells just don't make more of themselves....extending the life of DNA by doubling the time would effectively give us twice the normal life we have now......
There are other ramifications to consider also with this increased life, social impact and what not........

I can't really say I know what they are going through, but I do know I would be absolutely devastated if something like this were to happen to the people I play with online on a regular basis.
*Tries to count the number of in-game memorials and or gatherings remembering someone who died.*
To Peteppp: your an idiot. Pure courtesy and sensitivity should have made you realise that your post was unecessary.
To the family : My sincere sympathies.
Not only have I been part of the Eve community since launch but have made many new friends through online gaming for many years. The social aspect of an MMO is its prime unique component and its for this aspect that the genre is becoming increasingly popular. The gamers we meet, the guilds we join are all real people and therefore deserve common courtesy and respect.
To err is human....to play is divine
Actually, you're the idiot. I clearly stated "don't flame on me." It was my opinion. I do offer my condolences to the family (whoever that may include), but this really does happen everyday around the world. As we speak, I'm almost sure someone is being shot right now. So why don't we make a perpetual, ever-going thread grieving them? I honestly see why this is so huge when the same thing, I bet, has happened to someone else on the game that is less known. Do we mourn only those we hear and know about? Think on that.
By the way, (the real) idiot, my screen name has four P's at the end and it should have went "you're an idiot." This little tidbit was not meant for discussion.
I'm too lazy to cite artificial sources to be honest. Yet I think if you sit down and think that through properly, you might get the idea.
Now please, to get my personal opinion of my chest, you acted totally awkward. Don't flame on me.
AFAIK out in derelik region these is an anchored can memorial for a Confederation (think that was the alliance) who was killed by think was a drunk driver.
and in ref to the lamer who mocks the relationships former in games but eve esp
go tear some wings off flys and leave people alone as you arent suited to interaction with others
I also suspect you would find when examining his Eve employment history a LONG string of corps since he has trouble playing well with others
I would like to express my condolances to Dorthy McReynolds Family.
She will be missed by me and rest of our corp.
We been playing togheter in eve online ..

in private. and show someone the respect that a life lived deserves.
to make it public, to a gaming community, especially one centered on pvp, is to disrespect that person's memory beyond all hope.
why? because at some point, some 13 year old will read it, and make a post along the lines of "big deal, stfu and play". then the "pity me cuz i need something to have a lifelong online vendetta about" people will go poopoo crazy. bob/bod anyone?
a personal death is a private tragedy and should never be publicized in a game. if someone feels they need all that attention and pity, seek professional help. nothing good ever comes of this and i was hoping this was just last year's "pity me" trend; but it's not, and the desecration of life and memories shall continue due to the "persons" who proliferate this tomfoolery.
if the wow incident with that girl dying had not gotten such notice and publicity, then no one else would've felt the need to publicly announce every death that occurs. it would've remained as it had been for so many years - with people that knew each other mourning their loss privately.
i pity the people who do this. as in, i pity their eternal souls.
could we please get correspondent writers and moderators, on the eve forum at mmorpg.com, who are well-versed on eve-online and aren't just passersby pushing buttons? pretty please?
