They have to use anger and hatred and RAWRness. That's why we come here. The variety of people for a variety of opinions so that you can get the facts on every angle and aspect of the games. unfortunately that is what most forums are used for nowadays. Fanboys for one game bashes the fanboys other game and vice versa, it's a viscious cycle.
A lot of people playing WoW are looking for something new. WoW is getting old and people like myself are looking for something to fill the void. LOTRO may not make it in the long run because of Warhammer and some other upcoming titles, but for the time being it's a great game to fill the void.
LotRO managed to do one thing WoW didn't do, cut out the PvP more or less from the start. That way they managed to sucessfully cut the fastest growing sector of the mmorpg market out of the game. This means when they realise the mistake and try to patch in PvP at a later date, it should be even more retarded than the first revision of WoW's honor system.
LOL... do you really not understand that the hardcore PvP crowd is a small minority? I guess if nothing else, LOTRO proves that a game can be successful with only minimal focus on PvP. You left out some of your descriptive.
The hardcore PvP crowd is a small, but annoyingly obnoxious, minority.

Why is it a bad time ? Turbine has had a very successful game launch and LOTRO is making money. Other then your childish opinion why is this a bad time exactly? If if'm not mistaken well over 0.5billion gamers worldwide, so more then enough potential customers.
First of all thanks to the one that made me banned. (Hope this don't make me banned again.)
Second, when did I say that WoW is better? I don't even play WoW anymore. I just think it's sad that they must make this game look like WoW and not come up with a own style/design. Just look at WoW and then this game... they both the same just other monsters. Both have this ugly cartoon looking style. When did LOTR become a cartoon?
And yes I still think it's a bad time. A bad time to try copy WoW. Now when people are tired of WoW and are looking for something new.
Better wait and make something that don't look like an OLD GAME like WoW.
But hey maybe I'm wrong. Have fun and good bye.
Please don't ban me again for this. This is not trolling.

Since when was WoW original? I've been playing WoW since the release and i've leveled a couple 70s. Its just like any other mmorpg except it looks like an anime. Also I don't know if you seen LOTR but the graphics are (how to put this?) Different. Also the game isnt copying WoW because they've got a couple of dwarfs.
What i'm trying to say is WoW is not original and LOTR did not copy wow!lol besides AoC going to rock both of them in the fall

uve got some good ponits there... but saddly not every1 thinks like u. that goes for all the other "this is a copy/clone of that" topics. its only 1 single players thought that some other players might agree on or not. i dont personally dont get why ppl are even starting topics like these anymore since they all get flammed anyways and there will always be ppl who dont look at the thing in the same way.
Why does everyone keep saying 'OMG WoW clone'? First of all, WoW is a polished clone of EverQuest, Lotro its a über polished version of EQ. Both are clones. However, everyone condems LotrO for it, while in fact its just a sequal to EQ, the whole setting is diffrent and its evolved to meet current MMORPG standarts, but IMO its kinda like q Sequel. Now some of you may say 'they still copied Lotro'. THIS IS NOT TRUE. Lotro is, like EQ, Made by turbine. Turbine just made a new game using the basics of its very own game! All they did was adding lots of stuff and making it more casual so everyone could play it withou having a steep leurning curve.
So please shut the hell up with the 'lotro is WoW clone' Comments, if 1 thin deserves it to be called clone, it is WoW

Everquest came from Brad McQuaid and his company called "Verant Interactive" along with SOE. I'm not sure that Turbine is associated with EverQuest at all. The closest creators of EQ, I would argue, (next to SOE) is Sigil Online, who had just recently went under and was bought by SOE.

Am I wrong/missing something here?
Turbine in no way shape or form had anything to do with making EQ. Their first MMO was Asheron's Call 1 and then Asheron's Call2, DDO, and now LOTRO.
Secondly for the OP. You must be trolling or something is wrong with your PC. How can you honestly compare the graphics of WoW to the Graphics of LOTRO and say that LOTRO has the same cartoony style? They are worlds apart. There is nothing about LOTRO that displays as cartoony.
Currently playing: LOTRO & WoW (not much WoW though because Mines of Moria rocks!!!!)
Looking Foward too: Bioware games (Dragon Age & Star Wars The Old Republic)

My bad, made a little mistake, its not made by EQ(goes away to kill the person who told EQ was made by turbine)
yeah, when i first started playing i was realy surprised at the likeness of WoW, but after playing alittle more im realy starting to like this allot , the new content like the deed system and the monster play are realy nifty. If turbine holds up to there word and adds upon the monster play and the class selection i will be almost completely satisfied with this MMO

To piss off fanboy's and give trolls something to post on message boards with subjects like "Over 7 million playing WoW, why even make this game?" Less then a min, not bad. (The amount of time it took for the word fanboy to pop up in this thread.) Everybody knows that anyone who does not think Lotro is the holy grail is a WoW fanboi.
That's not what I was saying at all. If you cant keep up or understand the conversation, stay quiet.
Pay no mind to Gameloading.
He's made a career out of getting under people's skin on these forums - especially the Archlord and Lineage II sections - where he tells people their opinions on a game don't count unless they've played 'til end-game.
I'm surprised he hasn't said it here yet.

Where is it written that a Fantasy MMO *must* have PvP to be good - I mean aside from those who only want to play that kind of game?
Seriously, is it so far beyond the comprehension of some people that perhaps not having open world PvP wasn't a *mistake*, but a *choice*?

easy, this game is a copy of wow they are trying to attract the same market.
Will you people stop with that mantra already?
The game is not a copy of WoW.
Guess what.. you can find similarities to WoW in a number of MMOs. You can find similarities to EQ in a number of MMOs. No one game is entirely unique. That's a fact. Deal with it. Do you really think WoW was the first MMO to have most of the features it has? If you do, I'd advise you to take the blinders off.
If you actually *play* LoTR:O for any amount of time, yes, on its surface it seems like WoW. But it's only in the most superficial ways - the controls are similar, for example. However, as I'm playing more and more of LoTRO, I'm seeing more and more things that set it apart - quite distinctly - from WoW, and other MMOs. The depth of its lore, the structure of its quests - especially the story-line ones, the skill system, the music system, the concept of Dread and Hope affecting your character's overall performance.... and on and on... It has so many things that WoW - nor any other MMO I can think of - have and has put a twist on so many common MMO features. It certainly stands on its own.

Some additional thoughts on Turbines choice to not include traditional PvP. One of the biggest nightmares to a MMO dev is balancing classes, you see it all the time. This game nerf'd this class and that game nerf'd that class. Developers spend a tremendous amount of time and energy trying to keep everyone equal for PvP. LotRO for the most part doesn't have to worry about this. Instead, the devs can focus on content and fine tuning. MMMMMMMM......CONTENT.....*wipes chin.....eh hem......sorry. Again, Turbine can throw away the nerf bat and get busy with making me more stuff.....us more stuff.
