As expected, unfortunately....really a shame....I hope it's not too long.
Still not clear how much responsiblity for the delay falls with the publishing contract, and how much falls with the game not being ready. The devlog seems to suggest both, in different parts.
Oh well...here's hoping it's sooner rather than later.

Its seems that although they werent exactly up to date with the beta testing, only really needing to do stress testing, its cause of making this contract up but i personnaly think its a good thing and with them making a successful contract like this could encourage smaller companys to grab there balls when squaring off to the big publishers out there!
im expecting as soon as they got the contract finalised. with what the announcement said, end of june for open beta and then id guess end of july for game with a bit of luck? maybe august if a bit delayed.

I would say even August is very unlikely. They said in the same announcment that they don't view the beta period as a marketing step (it won't be an open beta). Instead they are treating it as a true bug fixing and polishing phase. Even if widespread beta begins at the end of June as they suggest, that phase will likely last a minimum of 6+ weeks (and that's very optomistic). So that means a finalized game code is still 3 months or more away.
Since they have decided to go with a "brick and mortar" release that means that a final finished CD set has to be sent to be burned and final packaging documentation completed. I've followed other games that have been through similar development. Even if everything is rushed, it seems to take a minimum of 6 weeks between the time the finalized game code is sent to the manufacturing plant and game boxes are shipping to vendors. So, if that's true, even a mid-October release date is very optomistic.
So, go play some other game for a while. You'll have plenty of time to get tired of it before this one is hitting the shelf. And, it will make the waiting go more quickly.
Im happy for them, as they wanted to have control of release and all of their game, and stuck to their guns about having it all come out the way hey wanted to and not third party.
But I feel sad for them as they will miss a very nice window to catch the young gamers who are just getting off of school for the summer and need something new to get into. Hopefully it wont be too long after june we get to enjoy this game.
I just got my beta today after signing up in January. Going to download it tomorrow when I get home from work and report back here later!
I agree with Hasani but as well as being sad that they might miss some of the hype generated by other releases in the very near future, I'm glad they have the strength to continue with their own dream for the game rather than that of their accountants.
Oh and Hasani, wanna PM me who's handling the bribes for beta?
POTBS has a fairly unique setting which will make it stand out regardless of when it's released. It's far less likely to get lost in the crowd than if it was just another swords-and-sorcery fantasy MMO. Since the subject matter has a relatively unique appeal POTBS will find its audience if it's any good.
Well we've seen this one coming.Again the "polishing" comes along.Last time i had respect for that , this time it's annoying to say the least.LAst time they delayed they said yeah but we didn't give a specific date so you can't hang us for this. Then they gave the june release as a date.Well now we can hang you for it .
But I feel sad for them as they will miss a very nice window to catch the young gamers who are just getting off of school for the summer and need something new to get into.
Yes, unfortunately all those kids will have to spend the summer trying to teach baby bunnies to swim, and sexually molesting chipmunks. Hopefull, later in the year, their parole officers will let them play......

I hate you. I signed up for beta in 2003 :P Or was it 2004? Bah, so long ago I cannot remember. Even updated my dxdiag as my computer improved.

So there is no new date? Im all for making sure the game is ready to go but come on. Is there a game that released when it said it was going to?.
Wish I could do that...sorry boss I was going to be done on monday but because I want to "polish" it a little i can not give you a time frame.
I stood up for WAR when they did it. I will wait to try PotBS to I guess, but I really want to play a NEW game and am getting frustrated that every time a game is going to come out I might be interested in it gets pushed back.

I'm really excited about this. Its looks like the game I was hoping for years ago, but then I though it wasn't possible. This game has a lot goin for it. Unfortunately they keep pushing back the release date. I was hoping that I would be able to play it before my next deployment to Iraq. I hope they get on the ball and launch this game before it's too late.
What i find most funny is that everyone in here knows the release date is set back at least 2 months..allthough i expect them to say now well let's release in december but that's a guess.Yet on the release dates on mmorpg.com it still says june 1st..come on is it that much work to update the date?Just set it to release unknown. This way people who just come in this site get confused and you make people eager for a game that could be set back to half a year or more.
I dont mind waiting, I rather have a good soild game come out then playing bugged version of the game. Sure most mmo´s have bugs when released but i rather not pay for a beta version of a game on release day. It will hurt them more in the long run if they try to hurry and push PotBS when its not ready yet.

Vanguard, need more be said?
Even if one person thinks the game isn't ready I truly hope they ask why and address those concerns.
