I had no problem with the NGE

It was the mass exodus and empty servers that ruined it for me.

I could have fought thru any of the game changes If the player base didn't go the way of the Do Do....

I actually liked some of the NGE changes!

NGE radically altered the core gaming experience which drove away the people who enjoyed the original gameplay....  who were not replaced by a new influx of players which NGE was supposed to attract.

It was a calculated risk that failed to deliver.... not the first...won't be the last in MMO's.

The NGE isn't aweful, it just isn't as good.  I really hope Bioware is making a SW MMO.

PS3 Sales suck  hard and thats driving Sony's game division deep into red numbers plus their sucking games $OE offers.

We on a good way  .

We will  see this crap dying and Bioware or another game publisher takes over Licence from LA.

Compared to the Original Non CU and Non NGE, the NGE was horrid! It couldnt make up its mind if it was a FPS or an MMORPG. They also dumbed it down so much a 5 yr old could mash and level without thinking to much. All the classes that you could mix and match added in with the great community of folks dancing and healing and buffing etc made the game great. They destroyed that community in one stroke. THAT is what killed SWG.

the NGE was a HUGe change. they should have mage smaller changes to the game first, to see hwo the players would react. like taking out doc buffs or cahnging them. i know a lot of people that would have been happy with that. i know I am. i hated having to get doc buffs to PvP, or even PvE. also, EVERYONE and their dog was a TKM, or Fencer. it was time thet balanced them. and changed the armors.

But also, there are a lot of things they shouldnt have done.....

like restricting the classes so much, and making jedi so easy to get...

So you say that everyone and their dog was TKM and Fencer (I was a fencer/pistoleer) but the NGE removed melee combat.  So wouldn't you be saying that SOE knowingly removed the most popular professions from the game?

Buffs gave doctors a PURPOSE, which is what is required for a game to work...  PURPOSE.

im gonna agree with every and there dog being TKM, Fencer, Rifleman, and swordsman. The CU gave the other ranged classes a chance by adding snares, but they also took away the KDs, anyways thats how i saw it.

BTW i liked pre-cu more then CU

A couple of minor changes could have gone a long way to "fixing" the game:

-- adjusting the armor, comp armor absorbed too much damage

    -- adjust the buffs

-- make crafted items equal in power according to skill level of crafter, the level of the crafted item, and the type of crafted item(same with buffs/poisons...) with the variable being the life of the crafted item/buff (how much damage it could take before it broke or how long the buff lasted); if I remember correctly there were exploits of stats that made things stronger than they were suppose to be...or there were people who knew of some VERY good resources and had the market on them...I wasn't really into PvP but I think this would have fixed some issues with some of the pvpers (in other words, gun type a which requires skill y will always do x amount of damage; master doc buff will always add x amount of health....now doc a used poorer resources than doc b so a's buff will only last an hour and a half while b's will last two hours, crafter 1 used better resources than crafter 2 so gun made by crafter 1 will go longer before it needs repairs or totally decays)

-- either adjusted trees so that stats earned are divided amongst trees with biggest increase to stats being in master, have a max on stats, or one only gets the stats/skills for the weapon equipped (cut down some on finding the "perfect" templet for soloing or pvping by getting the defense stats from the profession that had the best defense and the offense from the best profession that had the highest offense or go heavy on offense or defense by learning only that line from elite professions....for example, say a profession is going to add a total of +25 of a defense stat, each of the 4 trees might get +5 of the stat divided across the tiers with the master box getting +5 by itself; a max on stats would say either something like +100 is the highest one can get on a stat or stats totalled can only equal x, one can adjust their stats using the points they have earned within each stat -- if your totals are higher than x, you can use someone like an IDer to adjust stats with each stat going no higher than the total points you've earned for that stat....to simplify, and for example purposes only, I have earned a maximum in melee of +75 and I have earned a maximum of +50 in healing, my stats total can equal +100 -- I can have melee set to +75 and healing to +25, I can have both be +50, I can make any combo between those but I can not have melee +80 and healing +20 or healing +60 and melee +40 because melee can go no higher than +75 and healing can go no higher than +50 short of me earning a box that increases one of the stats and I can not set melee at +60 with healing at +50 because that would equal more than the maximum total for stats....complicated huh?)

With the game the way it was pre-CU, there was no reason to need to solo the game.  There were plenty of people around and finding a guild/group was easy with the dynamics of the game (people had to go were other people were in order to heal and if they wanted to buff plus there was none of the "sorry, you're too low level to group with us" or "I am too far above your level, you won't get any xp from the kills for that quest if you group with me" since there were no levels).  My best memories were the days of mountain squill hunting with a group of 20 before I discovered the "joy" of buffs and comp.

(and NO, I was not one of the people on the boards complaing about the game, I was having too much fun...main reason I used the board when I did get around to using it was player guides...didn't discover mmorpg.com until after NGE hit and I was hunting for another mmorpg...this website showed up in a search for "mmorpg"...short of making comments during beta about the condition of a game, me discovering the game's forums beyond using player guides is usually not a good thing... cause if I'm having fun in a game, I'm not hanging out in the forums)

    removed melee? maybe..

My main from basicly day one was a BioEngineer.  I had a CH on one of my other accounts.

It doesn't get much more removed than that .. and for those that were rangers.

That was why.. even if the NGE had been "the golden child" I would still have been pissed.  Oh I'm not stating it was good.. in fact I don't want to talk about if it was bad.

I'm just saying... I've never played a game where one day.. my class no longer existed, ever.

That was what sent me over the top on that.  Then of course the fact everyone *I* knew quit.. was the number 2 on that list.

I liked the game up till a way to become a jedi was discovered. As soon as that hit, everyone tossed away their hard earned skill trees in the pursuit of Jedi. But the grind was to boring, and people left. Then the DEVs gradually changed the game trying to make it easier for players to become Jedi. The game may have been much more successful if they just said NO!! to player Jedi.

"or there were people who knew of some VERY good resources and had the market on them"

That's actually it more than exploits in crafting.  Us miners were rather ridiclous in collecting our resources.  And for CM, we had a "testing center" in our guild, where myself as a 12 pt CM with about well over 100 billion worth of resources would play around mixing various minerals and adjusting crafting points for some of the more unique DOTS or stims on the server.  I used to get accused of exploiting when I would throw a weak area poison from 64m away that no buff could stop, and lasted forever.  It was relatively weak, but enough to irritate people so they would be distracted and everyone could get the drop.

We got creative.  I just think at times the resources were too strong, or they were in too much of abundance.  The strongest minerals should've been in rare concentrations.  Now us crafters, being in a competitive market (as well as miners) we used those 95% or higher concentrations on the flat plains of Tatooine to our advantage, but SOE was stupid for making it that way.

for me it was the 1 character per server also if you where imperial you where not rebel. its what made the feeling that you belonged on 1 side. now with the 2 or more character slots... you have 1 rebel and 1 imperial. you are part of both factions, war went down the drain.

you wanted intell? you had one guy use is only character slot to inflitrate the rebels and pass information to the imperials untill he got discovered and had to go change faction cuz the whole rebel aliace was aware that he was a spy... that was cool,

i remember my own guild (i was leader) hired one guy out of nowhere to change factions and infiltrate the rebels major guild... and inform me and my first officer about their plans. no one else knew he was a spy for fear i had a spy in my guild.  we payed for the guy;s expenses during the time he served there. he got discovered at some point and he came back to my guild as an imperial and told me as he left he got some intel that the alied imperial guild was spied on by (insert name i cant rememer) and that is what made the SW experience MY OWN SAGA...

    THAT IS WHAT I MISS...

Would be ok if this  where not  Star Wars Universe ,  sooner or later the lack of Jedi would be questioned and many would leave because only of this. Instead they should had install a Jedi vs Dark Jedi game-ingame and let Jedi stay outside GCW.

Btw this lack of Jedi exists now in NGE lol i am serious , cmmon thats no Jedi now ...is a joke.

I quit the game the day they might have as well deleted my toon. The day when they removed the Ranger line. It was shocking when they announced they would remove it, and it still shocks me to this day that they did it. They completely alienated an entire player base.

I'll come back to SWG, but only when my Ranger can be a Ranger again.
