Better than LoTRO!

I found something better than any MMO out there, even LoTRO!

It has epic storylines and awesome character development! The loot is

amazing, there's awesome legendary items and everything!

Oh, and the graphics are INSANE! I mean, I could see the dew on a

blade of grass! There's almost NO lag at all (though things got a bit

choppy when too much is going on).

And yes, it has groundbreaking PVP, with awesome duels that leave you

breathless!

Seriously, I can't say enough about it. I bet you're wondering what it is!

It's the J. R. R. Tolkien book sitting on my nightstand...

Don't ever expect your PC to rival that.

    Wow. Thank you a TON.

I mean, no one became interested in LOTRO BECAUSE they had read the books...that's crazy talk, and you're perfectly correct in making your point.

In fact, I first read the trilogy back in junior high school (decades ago), and have re-read it several times. You're right...I should be ashamed of playing a type of game I love that allows me into that world, when I could just go re-read the books.

I thank you for the lesson...I shall stay away from all games that allow me to do anything I could be reading about instead! This, of course, wipes out the ENTIRE genre' of MMORPG games, since they are almost all based on various literary archetypes (not all, but quite a few), so I will avoid them in the future.

Thanks again for pointing out on a site devoted to MMORPG games that we should be reading instead, because the graphics are better. Of course, I'll also forego watching any movies based on the written word as well, since the book is almost always better.

I had wondered why I was feeling so unfulfilled and emotionally crushed while playing LOTRO...you're right. I was expecting the game to be MUCH better than the books.

Again, thank you for your wisdom. I should be playing for quite a while longer than I probably would have, if you hadn't pointed out that the classic books the game was based on were better.

    I beg to differ.

First off, the graphics looks good, yes, but it depends A LOT on your system. you get a fairly high brain and you are set, but if you are stuck with some non-imaginative models, tough luck.

Second the story. Oh yes, magnificent storytelling, but come on! can we say "railroading"? it is completely linear. no side quests, no variety. every time you play it is the same soup. A great soup, yes, but the exact same, down to the same fly swimming into it.

PvP? what PvP? the only characters available are all fighting on the same side. yes, couple duels here and there (I think the Denethor instance is the best example here of "fake" pvp), but all rest is PvE.

So, at least the MMO has some variety and I can go visit where i want and not where the author want, who cares about moria anyhow? and how many mass produced balrogs they have down there anyhow?
