    Yes it does

One of the better in game economies including commodity trading(NPC and Player goods)

    Agent mission are okay

Exploration encounters discovered through probing are more interesting

Cosmos areas which provide a more scripted serious of missions.

While you can avoid PVP realtively easily you are going to encounter it at somepoint

I hate PvP in most games but in Eve it's actually fun. If you want to never engage in any actual battle with PvP then just stay in Empire 1.0-0.5 space and you will not relaly be at risk. However, even the market is honestly PvP, since you have to set up buy and sell orders against the pricing of everyone else while trying to help drive the market more in your favor, which can be done fairly easily in less populated areas where supply isn't as firmly entrenched.

Missions can be ran anywhere for some combat, where they are doesn't usually have too much of an effect on them. However, if you interested in Mining, or ratting in the belts for the bounties and drops of the NPC spawns, you really need to go into low sec or no sec. Low sec is 0.4-0.1 and no sec is 0.0

Once in low sec or no sec you can be hunted down by pirates much more easily, however if you have a decent corp or alliance you can have a reletively safe system to operate in. I for one rat out in 0.0 with my alliance, we have our own 6 system cluster with only 1 entrance point which makes for a reletively safe area to defend.

I don't PvP much, just when pirates come bother us. Other than that.... Just endless fun with the gang. We had hauler races the other day. lol

You can PvE for a while in EvE, but the game is developed around the PvP; PvE is an afterthought.  If you are going to limit yourself before even playing the game you should find a game where the devs put the majority of their effort into making fun PvE content.

Or you could consider trying PvP in EvE, you might like it.

thanks for the replies all. As for PVP Ive never done it.. Im probably just no good at it and i honestly cant look forward to being fodder for those who are good at it. I think Ill do the trial if its still available and just have a look for myself I guess.
    Thanks

You can find the trial via the link at the end of my sig hehe. I like to spread it around in case random people want to give Eve a chance.

I also am not a fan of online PvP games albeit I am VERY much a fan of EVE Online.

EVE is the only game I enjoy the PvP in.  Maybe becuase it's a Zero-sum type of system where you are not playing to develop character skills and instead are spending your time acquiring assets to be used in combat.

You can have thousands and thousands of ships.  When one you are piloting is destroyed, it is gone!

EVE is about assets.  The PvE experiance can be lacking and some of the best experiances in EVE *will* be fleet engagements.

Did I say this is the only MMO with a player controlled dynamic market?  Everything in the game is a consumable, even your character!  Make sure to have a clone and the most important thing to remember is:  You are not a ship!

It was interesting for a while. Cured my insomnia cause it was so boreing. Run a few missions, sit in front of the computer for 10 - 15 minutes while you travel 3 - 10 system, sometimes more.

Usually watch more tv than play.

If I ever have problems sleeping though, i'm there. If only I could remember my login/passwords.

Eve has plenty to offer in terms of non PVP, and unlike many games which mean you have to jump in the deep end for PVP, entering PVP in eve is relatively painless. Unlike the likes of WoW, PvP in eve is not risk free, but also unlike the likes of WoW PVP in Eve is possible realistically possible between players with massive skil point differences. PVE is very good in eve, but as time goes on you will get bored of it if you are like me, and will slowly ease into all out PVP play

I played EVE for 9 months total, and have tried all of the PvE content, aside from Level 4 missions and Invention. Take it from me, EVE's PvE is not very good.

    - Mining is supremely boring. Period. Get a book or watch TV while doing this, but only if you're in high-sec space.

    - Manufacturing is very simplistic. And there's no variation in the end product. It's always the same as the blueprint. No making a gun with 2% extra damage or range. The best you can do is research blueprints to make them take less time, and/or use less resources. The market is pretty cutthroat though, so be prepared for price wars and undercutting.

    - Ratting in belts is okay, but it's just like grinding random mobs is any other MMO.

    - Trading is not bad, but it takes some time to build up the cash to move onto bigger profit items. Figuring out where to buy and sell is a game all it's own, but does take some time. Travel time can be tedious, unless you autopilot and watch TV at the same time. Kind of defeats the purpose of playing a video game though, IMO. Getting blown up in Empire is also a risk, but I've never encountered this personally.

    - Missions are what I focused on the most, and they get very repetitive, very quickly. There are a limited number of missions you can get, and often times you can do the same one in a row. The harder ones are fun for a while, but after doing them enough times, you know exactly how the enemies spawn, where, and how to fit your ship to easily defeat them. Faction rating, loyalty points and ISK are your rewards. Loyalty points can eventually turn into an offer of a ship, or valuable implants, but I got bored of missions way before these came up. Also, most good mission running systems are lag infested, especially the ones in Caldari space.

    - Exploration is not worth the time at all at this point. It takes far too long to train the skills, and becomes nothing more than a waiting game, until you finally find a site that's not been cleaned out already. It's usually infested with NPC pirates, and the loot they drop is worth next to nothing. Wait until CCP makes their proposed changes to Exploration before trying it.

    - Invention is another thing I never tried. Working up the R&D agent standings to get Datacores didn't seem all too appealing, nor did using Exploration to find them. Basically, Invention gives you a chance of making a limited run Tech II blueprint from a Tech I one, plus some other rare items.

Basically, if you think you'll like playing the market in some way (mining, manufacturing, trading), then I'd say go for it. If you're looking for PvE like most other MMOs have, don't bother. The missions in EVE aren't like quests/missions in other MMOs, and they never tie into the overarching story of the EVE universe. One thing that makes me cringe when I think of how CCP is going to develop the World of Darkness MMO.

The PvE in EVE has been designed from day one to simply be a source of money (ISK) to fuel player's PvP costs. CCP is adding more PvE content Soon™, but it will be more of the same. PvE to generate ISK and ships/modules, so they can be blown up in PvP. Simple as that.

So, playing EVE to skip PvP is really not a great choice. There are far better PvE orientated MMOs out there for you to pick from. None that are Sci-Fi, but sadly, that's just the current state of the market.

Hope you enjoy yourself in EVE, or find another game more suited to your tastes.
