Is this the MMORPG for me?

Ok, Im new to the whole online RPG thing and have been 'avoiding' it up until now.  My only experience with online RPGs has been PSO for about 350+ hours, Guild Wars E3 Demo for about 10 hours, and Asherons Call 2 demo for about 12 hours.  I never got a chance to play Everquest.  But ever since getting my first taste of the genre Ive been doing my homework and studying up on what game I would dedicate my online life to (I mean...these arent exactly the kinda games you can play many of lol).

I like the way AC2 played with the mouse point and click etc..(same with Guild Wars).  I dont know if every MMORPG is the same as far as similar control schemes but I find that appealing (is Everquest the same?).  Anyways, Ive narrowed my choices down to Everquest 2, Guild Wars, World of Warcraft and Final Fantasy XI:

Final Fantasy is almost out of the question because I dont want to start this late in the game (unless its still newbie friendly?).  Been a big fan of the series since NES and know that its not the same, but is still Final Fantasy, plus it doesnt look like its going anywhere for awhile due to its userbase (population is also important).  Lack of character customization is a bit of a downer (unless its not as bad as Ive heard).

Guild Wars seems cool but may lack the 'Fantasy World' that Im looking for (seems more mission based).  I like the graphics and it was a lot of fun to play, but I really want that "Where do I want to go" feeling when I play.  The Action is pretty much exactly what Im looking for though.  Great animations/fluid, every character has a purpose (not weighted in favor of certain classes).

WoW seems to be getting a lot of hype, but I dont know if I'd enjoy as much as the fans since I was never really into Warcraft.  But it still seems like the type of game that Im looking for.  Huge, colorful, clean world.

Everquest 2 is to me the most fun looking adventure.  I really just want a game that I can make "MY" customized character (unlike the clones which made me lose interest in Lineage 2).  I want a game that I can play with my friends, without a level 60 character rush through our dungeon and kill all of our enemies.  Where armor has a visual effect when equiped (not just a new color).

Anyways...quite a long post, but thanks for reading ;).

Everquest is in the process of trying to morph into the sort of game you're describing.  Although it was saddled with constraints early on in terms of character models and basic game engine.  Now it's under a change to try and satisfy by the casual gamer and powergamer alike.  In the past 2 expansions, serious mistakes were made and I now believe that SoE is trying to rectify those mistakes.  Because of them, SoE is making an effort to ensure that Everquest 2 is the answer to those early mistakes.  The developer team at SoE has their wish list from 5 years experience with EQLive

I'm looking positively toward EQ2.   I played Everquest for the past 5 years as a casual gamer first and then a powergamer in the last 2 years.  I want to believe that SoE has learned from the past 5 years and from the mistakes they have made with EQ1.

Oh my.. it sure sounds like I work for SoE doesnt it?  image  I don't but I really just want to resist becoming jaded by SoE's last few expansions.

Erm not played AC2 for about a year now but as far as i remember it was not point and click .

As for EQ2 .well since its not even in beta we can't say really. We have high hopes for it though. But you better have a good system espically a good graphics card for this game is all i can say

Right, well I heard that there is no system out that can run it on high...but thats good I guess, that way the graphics wont be outdated anytime soon...I just purchased some items to upgrade my comp, 9800 Pro, 3.06 processor, and another 512 of memory (1gig total).

AC2 was not a point and click, you used the WASD to move and such, but double clicking items would make you move there (thats what I meant).

EQ2 will be THE MMO game. Dont sell yourself short with WoW. Its like... okay ill put this in simple terms. Lets say, there is a cheeseburger for $1, and a double cheeseburger for $1.75. Now, if you had $2, why would you sell yourself short and get the normal cheeseburger? Allright, that made no sense. Okay, um, WoW and EQ2 will be the same price, but EQ2 will have like x3 (or more) the content of WoW. Now why would you wanna skip that and go for the lesser?

EQ2 will prolly have more content and overkill however WoW runs so smooth its incredible I have a friend who has beta there is no lag and i hae seen no glitches Blizzard makes the best products and they run awesome. I dont wanna put down Eq2 but after playing asheronc call, asherons call2, everquest, anarchy online, city of heroes oh and earth and beyond. I have never seen anything as difficult to play as EQ1 with such lame graphics and bad interface. i died in eq1 like90 times before lvl 3 and so did half my AC1 guild who tried to make the crossover. I love Sony but Eq has yet to prove itself to me especialluy after seeing the disaster which is Star wars galaxies 8(. just my 2 cents but what do I know hehe. Get City of Heroes my personal all time favorite run awesome and i have a POS cpu.image

WoW runs so smooth because its game engine is already years old without it even releasing...
