World of Warcraft: Badges of Justice

SzarkSzark News ManagerMember Posts: 4,420

The Burning Crusade gives players the opportunity to buy epic rewards with badges gained from defeating foes in Heroic dungeons. Players can now read about the badges and rewards available on the World of Warcraft official site.

In the Burning Crusade, you can purchase powerful epic rewards from turning in badges found in Heroic difficulty dungeons. View the available rewards and more details on how to obtain these badges on our new Badges of Justice page.

Badges of Justice are obtained from bosses in Heroic mode dungeons. Every member of a five-man group can loot their own Badge from each boss defeated in Heroic mode. The Badges are bind-on-pickup and thus cannot be traded or sold. Access to Heroic difficulty requires Revered reputation level (for each group member) with the dungeon's associated faction. Badges of Justice can be turned in for these powerful rewards from G'eras, found in Shattrath's Terrace of Light.

Visit the Badges of Justice page.

He said to me, "On your deathbed, you will receive total consciousness." So I got that going for me, which is nice.

The Badges of Justice aren't at all like the CoX badge system. However, the Badges of Justice are nothing more than a new skin slapped on the Battleground token system. The way you get the badges is by farming the bosses in the Heroic difficulty instances to buy gear rather than farming the BGs to get the tokens to buy the gear.

    New skin, same system.

In both systems, you get rewards for obtaining badges.  In both systems, badges are obtained by killing certain things/doing certain events.

    ..Seems pretty similar to me.

Mmm, ok quite similar, although I think it is tougher than BG, but what other alternative could Blizzard have provided?  At least now there are three options available: You can go for PVP armor or for Tier Armor or for PVE armor.  THe PVP and PVE are great options for the casual player.

Badges are often obtained while farming gear or rep, I've got three items with my badges already, it really isn't that much of an effort. Note: I do around 3-5 heroics a week.

SWG had badges before CoH. SWG gave rewards for certain badges before CoH. But having played both those games and WoW, this really is not the same thing. "Badge of Justice" is just a name for the inventory token you get. You don't get a title or a notation in the paperdoll. They might just as well have called it "thingy you need to get stuff."

It's actually a cool way of balancing the two kinds of loot - loot that involves a certain amount of luck (drops), and loot where you know if you do certain things you get specific  rewards. Games are better when they include both.  So I like the system.

EQ1, EQ2, SWG, SWTOR, GW, GW2 CoH, CoV, FFXI, WoW, CO, War,TSW and a slew of free trials and beta tests

Quite "similar" is not "blatant rip off".

CoH ripped off EQ1 by taking their token system for rewards as well if you wanna get technical and I'm sure EQ1 ripped it off someone else. Who cares?

I like it as it allows me to pick a item I want and always feel like I have a reason to go to any instance for a reward instead of just focusing on the few that actually drop a item that I can use.

Badge system seems like a pretty good idea and rewards casual players more since they are more likely to be running heroics vs some of the higher level instance content.

i hate farming.  i hate having to run the same instance/dungeon/mission a bazillion times to get good stuff.  that is farming on a grander and more icky scale.

damn the man and save the empire!

could we please get correspondent writers and moderators, on the eve forum at mmorpg.com, who are well-versed on eve-online and aren't just passersby pushing buttons? pretty please?

never mind the tedious grinding/farming to get to Revered status with <arbitrary faction>. Blizz sure does love their rep grinding, don't they? Now if I could run the Deadmines at heroic difficulty, that would be interesting.
