the idea of this topic came from the post of the hasnt died yet titls in LOTRO
i was wandering, are you helpfull in yout respective MMORPG? or do you mind your own business?
After being called a KSer when i helped someone that was about to die, i now ask, do you need help? if he does not ave time to answer, well tough luck. thats what a bad community does to a game, if he does say yes, then i help him. kill creature and if i can i heal him. if he says thank you and is polite then if possible i buff him or give him potions that will help him on?
there is only 1 thing i liked during my 3 month of World of Warcraft. its the fact that when a mage would pass beside you or a druid, he would not even bother to ask and just buff you. i have never seen to that expent in any other game where some one will randomly buff you if they happen to pass beside you. the only other game ive seen that its in ragnarok online. but to a less of an extent.
Edit: P.S. no longer playing WoW, got bored and simply quit. felt to much like single player. i found myself playing oblivion more than WoW.. so i canceled my acount and went back to GW
in MMOG do you help random beginers? or do you simply ignore them.

1. in EQ someone was getting beaten back hard, the person could not respond because the situation was that bad, i helped out and i got a good item in return which helped me along way to the top of the rankings in that game.
when i decided to retire from that game, i saw a level 21 that had alot of skills and Spirit to go really far. the person asked me for help with a problem, player killers will not let this person through the area, and the person was cornered i did kill them all and then shortly after i gave my entire inventory for free to this person and never looked back.
2. On RS i mind my buissness completly. i never ask help what so ever. i did die 3 times in the entire time i played the game, again i found another person who was have alot of bad luck that day, i transferred my entire inventory over again.
3. i played Voyage Century, i am also thinking of returning to that game. But i helped some much higher players out who needed it and in return i got minimal help support. so shortly after that i stayed to myself.
No man is an island, entire of itself; every man is a piece of the continent, a part of the main. any man's death diminishes me, because I am involved in mankind, and therefore never send to know for whom the bell tolls; it tolls for thee.

oh and woot for guild wars and the only sane MMO quest system out there, decent PvP to boot.
I find it amazing that by 2020 first world countries will be competing to get immigrants.

I do my best to help whomever needs help. However it's not always I do it. In WoW I got extremely tired of all those lvl 30s asking you to boost them through gnomeregan. I helped maybe 33% of them, but that's enough for me. I help people as long as it doesn't take over all of my own gaming time.
One way of being helpful, I always did this on my druid and priest. I also used to help people being in trouble because of high lvled mob or many mobs. Regardless if they were horde or ally, on my side or not.
