I'm thinking about Buying World of Warcraft but is it actually any good? Please give me five reasons! (NO FLAMING!)
Although some will turn you away from this game it is not a bad game in the least. World of Warcraft is one of the most addictive MMORPG I've ever played. The game is fun, challenging for beginners, and has a lot to do. Expect the game to last around a year before burnout.
The game is ok in PVE but the PVP just plain sucks if you like killing people this game is not for you but if you like doing quest after quest you will like this game. An the reason why this game had over 7 million people playing it is because of the franchise name warcraft.

WoW is a great MMO starter. In the first year you will adore it. After you run the risk of becoming a bit frustrated with certain aspects of it but I do not want to ruin your fun :P Also who knows by that time Blizzard could have actually showed some heart. Given thats its been with us for so long you will find it a bit difficult to party at early levels however there are a lot of players creating new alts.
PS if you wanna join us on Laughing Skull server you are welcome
To wannabe or not to wannabe? Hey I know the answer and it is not 42!
wow is a good game till you hit the maximum level ,however the raiding commitments that follow is not for everyone.
So often in my guild there people quit simply because real life catches us and they need to leave for it as the game is very unfriendly to casuals post 70.You can't do much because the game is about gearing via raids .
If you got tons of time on your hands you might be at home here. However, the road to 70 is good fun and as such worth doing .After that you need to decide for yourself if you got time to spent hours and hours a day raiding .
Specially wow where you will spend all of your time catching up to people who been playing for 2 years.
Now if you have real friends in wow that can help you it may be different. (you might also see that your friends will be too busy to help you)
LOL this is one of the only older games where it doestn matter. Not only can you catch up super fast.......they start a new server like every month it seems. So not sure why you wouldnt suggest this game.

Ermm, u jokin right ? 4 god sake man, did u ever played WoW ?
I somewhat agree with Valance. The Talent Trees allows any profession to maximize their potential in either PvE or PvP. If there is one out-of-balance profession in PvP, possibly it would be Warlock. Otherwise, I'd argue that Blizzard has done a decent job of balancing the professions.
As for the OP, I've been playing WoW for almost three years now. The primary reason that I've held onto my account is that I find WoW is truly a casual game. I've never felt compelled to sign-on to do some mundane task, and it's easy to take extensive breaks and jump back into.
Top Five Reasons: 1. Casual play-style 2. Interesting story-lines in quests 3. Graphics (yes, I like the art style) 4. Stable environment 5. Ability to create up to 30 characters (10 per server)
Ico Oh, cruel fate, to be thusly boned. Ask not for whom the bone bones. It bones for thee.
One simple reason to buy WoW; it's fun. If your looking to spend time playing a game, than wow is a great choice, if your looking for the perfect game that is completely balanced, has the excact amount of pvp vs pve, gives you the right amount of gold for every little thing you do and has the end game content that your looking for.....well you might as well play wow, cause you never know if any one person is going to like a game until you try it and like I said before; WoW is a fun game to play.
Specially wow where you will spend all of your time catching up to people who been playing for 2 years.
Now if you have real friends in wow that can help you it may be different. (you might also see that your friends will be too busy to help you)

So not sure why you wouldnt suggest this game. Because i saw 15 people that i knew join late and try to catch up to raid with us...rushed everything and never caught up.
If you know what you are doing and play alot sure you can hit 70 fast...but as a new person i dont think you can catch up since they release new raids every 6 months.
The new server is an option though...never thought of that..lol

Wow!
Just reactivated my account and they have really done a great job on the latest patch.
You should really try the tail and see if you like it.

Own, Mine, Defend, Attack, 24/7
WoW is a really great game. But a lot of people on this site hate it simply because it's popular.
It's easy to level in.
It's balanced very well so that every class is good in pve and pvp.
The pvp is quick, challenging, and a blast to play.
The grinding is so well hidden by tons of quests that you will barely notice it.
The world is richly detailed with great quality art.
Plus, it's easy to get into and just plain fun.
Doktar - 70 Troll Priest - Perenolde
If you're into raiding, and accept the fact that you need to Raid multiple times a week in Order to gain some basic equipment.
If you accept that a much better equipped Enemy can and will kill you in PvP, no matter if you're much better, then WoW is for you.
If you are a PvP Addict however, I don't recommend the Game for you. It really needs some love from Blizzard to become long-term fun.
Have fun.

1. WOW is a stable, polished game with a strong player base backed by a great company
2. Great PVP system with lots of players and arena style competition with plenty of options
3. Almost all parts of the terrain can be traveled to, increasingly so with flying mounts
4. Depending on your server, there are some great guilds with helpful, established individuals who will help you move forward in the game
5. Large game world without zones (though with instances for raids) and without chunking in-between the zones
