I really want a game like this one, and I do see a large demand for such a title. I just can't understand why a huge game like WoW that has hundreds of servers does not simply convert one of their servers into a "alternate rules" server that can capture this group of people.
Simply take a regular WoW server. Make it so anyone can attack anyone else, make it so people drop one of their items when they die, take away all the NPCs that ever fight players, make it so when you die you automatically re-spawn at the spirit healer instead of running back to your corpse. Now suddenly WoW would be a TOTALLY different game and it would be about a billion times more fun.
The fact that the WoW makers don't see the viability of creating one server like this.... when they have hundreds of servers and millions of players.... does not speak highly for the potential of Darkfall. They refuse to even have .5% of their servers dedicated to gamers who like this type of play....... and they have the money to experiment and play around like that. I assure you, if they saw profit in it they would do it...........
thus they don't see any profit in it , or the makers of WoW are really stupid and preoccupied with other things. Either way, it sucks.

Problem is.. MMOs cost alot to make and keep em running.. As long as they can make $$ on wow .. they wont plan to make StarCraft mmo for sure.. why make competetiont to them self? They still sit stable on the market with WOW (how sad this is ). And makeing a new StarCraft mmo is like throwing cash out of the window
Ya this game will own.
But they cant make a real pvp server on WoW because good gear takes to long to get. It wouldnt work.
We shouldent worry about the fact that the WoW developers dont want free PvP.
The good thing with WoW is that theay have made millions of new MMO players. And after playing WoW for a few years, they will begun to wonder about FFAPvP. This is when DF comes in play.
So there will be a nice future for DF.
Actually to be completely honest... every WoW player I know who has never touched an MMO before, states that when they are done with WoW, they are done with MMO's. And yes, i do mean the ones that have now played WoW since launch... not 15 minutes.
"And after blizzard takes over the world, they are gonna gather a bunch of lemmings, sit on their fat asses near a cliff, and watch the little fuzzy bastards suicide dive into the ground below. . . . . all just for their own entertainment."
They don't see a profit in it.
Pvp games struggle for players and games with pvp servers tend to have those servers pooorly populated.
Players over and over again vote with their feet when given the choice of a pvp versus a pve game.
They always have, and they always will.
It seems though that at least 50% of the fans that follow DF seem convinced that it'll never seem the light of day.
Several of the old posts cast convincing doubts after I've read them.
