I can totally agree on that!

DAoC's PvP is the best! although WarHammer Online's PvP may be just as good.

    Pointless respawning after dying sucks.

EVE has the only realy pvp, unfortunatly at this time :(

Beeing able to real dmg your enemy, he droping items, and blowing his ship ,tho we got insurrance so on ship he doesnt loose much, but a random percentage drops in a can, and another random percentage gets destroyed. You go get the loot sell it, profit. :)

So called pvp when u just battle in a battleground, or on a plain, and then respawn in some city not beeing able to loose anything, thats for kids...and it pretty pointless

    Currently, DAoC.

You PvP because it means something, because you fight for your side, for your cause.

Once WAR goes live, it will inherit the throne.

You don't need to lose items to make PvP worth something. If you're the last Defender of that important ressource outpost, and you die, you'll have a hard time taking it back with your buddies, if you win however, you can be proud that you managed to secure the important ressources for your side.

Although I didnt play eve (what seems that everybody loves it...) Gw is the best, I like it more thant daoc, and of course, more than wow, cov/coh is interesting pvp :) because it can be mixed with pve and missions, its funny.

I agree with that, but I also think it should be an option.

Different PvP varieties make it a feasible decision for endgame, otherwise I find it gets bland.

    GW imo.

Ever played PlanetSide? Now THAT was good pvp. When you're in the middle of a 100v100 battle, complete with tanks, planes and infantry, it feels amazing. Plus there's no click and wait combat, player skill really plays a part.

Eve for pvp wars. Territorial wars, piracy, infiltration, lobbying, and stuff like that. You just don't see that in arena based pvp games.

GW for pvp battles, where the focus is on the individual fights instead of it's consequences.

There are many gankfest mmos. Best pvp is Lineage 2.

GW is a nice polished game. Unfortunately it's no really an mmorpg but merely a multi player game. It's an instanced zoning game where you play alone with your party (as opposed to open/seamless worlds like Lineage 2, Vanguard, Rappelz,...). The same applies to the pvp, it's in instanced zones, so there is no "real/open pvp" within the game.

Endless Ages had the best combat system/pvp I have seen in any game.  It was basically Tribes except you also had magic and melee weapons in addition to guns.  Guild Wars was pretty good being able to mix and match to make a good team but, its' combat system is terrible so it drags it down.  Planetside would be second best but, it lags so bad.

EDIT: Vendetta online was also great.  Either Vendetta or Endless Ages, combat depends on your skill as a player in both those games.  Vendetta for a spaceship avatar and Endless Ages for a humanoid avatar.

Your mind is like a parachute, it's only useful when it's open.
Don't forget, you can use the block function on trolls.

I'd have to go with Granado Espada. Its the only PVP that is actually based on player skill.

Can't believe I'm getting myself into this again, but here we go..

    Ok.

Some of us think that match/arena based pvp games (such as guild wars) is vastly different from open pvp games (such as shadowbane and eve).

In the former, the battles have no real consequence, there are no politics involved, and no greater war to be won. The pvp goals are given to you by the game.

In the latter, you fight long-term wars with entire opposing alliances consisting of hundreds if not thousands of players. You fight out of greed or to settle a conflict. Wars are not won with individual battles, but by cooperating with your guild over longer periods of time, achieving goals not all directly combat related.

I am not saying one is better than the other, but I am getting sick and tired of this "you just like that kind of pvp because you don't have skillz" stuff. I played and enjoyed GW, I did pretty ok with the pvp in there, even when the odds weren't completely in my favour.

The thing is, GW's pvp doesn't appeal to all of us for more than a few weeks at the time. Some of us are more inclined to get engrossed in political/strategy type pvp where you fight not just by means of battle.

So could we please stop with the "my game is better than yours, the only reason you don't like my game is cos you don't have the skillz for it" mentality?

Best pvp i ever have expirienceds .....

mmorpg:  Shadowbane, DAOC, WoW (SB and DAOC had really nice guild wars and WoW was fun when open pvp did exist)

mmo: Battleground-Europe WW2online (best pvp content so far, since u can conquer huge territories, bunkers, cities etc...realism is great..but its more a simulation)

I could not stand the pvp in guild wars, since you never had your persistant role in groups...to many build possibilties for my taste and too strong buffs or defences often from certain classes. Pure Arena was too boring, so its a good game but it is not for everyone i guess.
