its solo friendly until you hit level 40. I play on Lionna and Bartz. The classes are very unbalanced though. This doesnt become that obvious until you get past level 40 where each class needs to play a specific role. From 1-20 theres hardly any unbalance, unless your an Orc and your being kited by a caster
I play for the superb PvP and seiges. I love the clan politics. No other game really brings this.

I play Lineage 2 for many reasons. The openess of the PVP system is amongst the best in the industry, castle seiges and clan wars all mixed in with clan politics is about as good as it gets when it comes to end game content.
Role playing posibilities are endless with the right group and there's quite a few tools at your disposal to really make things interesting. The community, once you get into it, is realy good. I really like the pace the game, I like the classes and I like crafting to a degree. Over all if you like PvP heavy games L2 can really immerse you into the world.
Is it solo friendly? The answer to that really depends as it's not so black and white. Alot of it is the class you choose, healers and buffers can have a rough go at solo'ing early on and typically hit a wall somewhere between 40 and 50. It's also very gear dependent, good gear in L2 is the difference between living and dying, that goes for pvp and pve. The crux for that is of course, adena to buy gear isn't always easy to earn so until you can comfy with the games dynamics, you might find solo'ing effectively a bit of chore. Joining a good clan with similar values will usually help with that.
It is solo-friendly.. just need to find the proper class to play. The best plan is to 2 box, as there are a few very good duo classes (ie shillen elder and any nuker class, or prophet and all strong DDs).
I am addicted to this game. I keep coming back and I seriously can't pin down why I play ^^. I even play a gimp class and I still like it. Play Bartz ^^ we are a very active server. If you really want to start the game, familiarize yourself with l2blah.com. Its the forums that most hardcore players use.
