OK why don't they just revamp every dang zone? Everytime I turn around another zone is getting revamped why dont they just revamp it all. Promote it and get new people in the game?!
I am not sure a revamp would do much to attract people to the game, my Friend.
It is the design of the game, particularly PoP and onward with the forced-guilding and zerg-raiding. People today want more options to solo, group, and so forth; they do not want to raid three to four nights a week.
EDIT: By the way, I think a full revamp might turn some vets away.
EQ has seen its best days already, and to that end i think the idea of launching a prequel or re-hashing EQ2 to be more like EQ1 but with better graphics and different playstyle options would be more viable from the SOE stand point.
As an old school EQ-er all of my fondest memories are of early EQ days, and even some post-pop moments; but i think it might be time to let go and look towards other games.
I just wish SOE would have done better by the EQ franchise than EQ2, cause friends dont let friends play EQ2 (mind you i havent seen the game since they made all their uber tweaks)
This idea will end EQ but i believe EQ's existence may be coming to a close within a year or so, so I think for SOE to continue EQ this is the best course of aciton. SOE needs to find a way to continue EQ 1's storyline into EQ 2's with the Dragons fighting and hurtiling the moon into Norrath (as has been conspired by many) which results in a catasrophic change into the land that has become the story of EQ 2. They need to some how be able to transfer EQ 1 into EQ 2. Combine servers, add EQ's players into EQ 2, add EQ 1's best qualities and put them into EQ 2 but without changing any of EQ 2's main properties. Carry all items, money, and other things over including epic weapons and other high profile pieces of armor and weapons. Make quests to obtain some of them in EQ 2 but keep some weapons and armor from being obtained. This makes some items very rare and special and keeps many players unique in the game, which EQ has always been successful with, with their many classes and races. SOE could advertise this with their new, bigger population and depth added to the game. And for those players that still like EQ 1 and dont want to move on with the storyline into EQ 2. Well SOE, make a classic EQ server(s) for those gamers that still love the old game and storyline. It's risky and will not happen im 99% sure but I honestly think it could take those that are tired of WoW and already tired of LoTRO and make them EQ fans once again.

However, Vanguard has its own problems.
Painting an old car doesn't necessarily make it more desirable. EQ I believe has seen its better days.
