Roleplayers I need your advice!

Heya all, I am a serious roleplayer and have been roleplaying at D&D level for some time now perhaps 4 years or so. however it seems to me since the launch of the mmorpg market there has not really been a place for myself and roleplayers alike to call our home (I may be wrong in thinking that). I used to play NWN and loved the community and atmosphere of the game, however I enjoy the huge scale communities and vast lands that a mmorpg style game brings to the user.

So what im really asking is there a mmorpg where the majority of the mainstream -to- hardcore Rp'ers go?

Any advice is very much appreciated, thanks in advance.

I hear that Everquest 2 has quite a few serious to not so serious rp guilds.

Be cool to people, and try and stay cool that way you never have to regret making someone feel bad. Don't take what ya got granted because some people never get to feel happy. We get to play these great MMOs and surf a good site. Be thankful for what ya got and next time ya feel down imagine a fat sea otter waddling with a pillow and a night cap. Bam! smiles!

If you are a Matric Flunky, Matrix Online is almost the exclusive domain of roleplayers.

I recommend EQ2 as well. The Antonia Bayle and Lucal D'Lere servers have the highest concentration of roleplayers I've seen in any MMORPG.

Practically every MMORPG has its roleplay niche.  Sometimes, it's just harder to find.

EQ2 has the most organized rp community I've seen, with many guilds teaming together to host rp events and the like.

City of Heroes holds the best roleplayers I got to meet in my roleplaying career, but finding them is much harder.

I heard Lord of the Rings Online also has a good rp community as well, but I'm a bit afraid of those rabid Tolkien geeks who speek Sindarin all the time and will flame anyone who spells Lothlorìen without the accent on the " i " ...

Joking asides, I think it's more important to find the universe that you feel for playing most and pick the game that has it best.  You'll find roleplayers once you get there.

The Saga of Ryzom used to be very RP-oriented but I don't know if that's still the case, as I have not played it in some 6 months. You might want to take a look at their forums and such: www.ryzom.com.
