Does anybody want to clarify me on whether or not Gods & Heroes will be using a real time combat engine (where your intervention would actually have an impact on where and how to strike your opponent), or a system similar to that of EverQuest 2's where it's pretty much a sit back, relax, and watch your character slash away in an auto attack (aside from the specials)?
Personally, I believe a real time combat engine would not only be more desirable (look at Oblivian's success with their role playing first person action style), but also it would likely keep a players interest level up (I know I'd be more inclined to keep my attention focused in the game). Any thoughts on the matter?

I'd still like to here your opinions on the matter though. : )
Tough to explain this one because not only is it sort of different then general turn based and real time systems of other games, but you're leading your minions aside from fighting toe to toe. The few times you actually lock on to your target is done so to trigger an animation, but that animation is practical and applies to the move you have just done so it lasts the duration of the skill used, so you have to be ready to fight the rest of the battle. So, I don't think we'll have very much down time in combat that isn't being used to set up your next move, position yourself, order your minions, and so on.

There's another link that should lead to some other helpful threads, though it's a little old, should have the overall idea.

I don't like Oblivian's at all don't like how it played or the combat.
I would not mind this game been turn base if they did it well to keep it fast but from the videos it looks like it has an auto attack were you click skills and spells and tell what the rest of your squad is meant to be doing.
How would you be able to have a squad as well as real time combat it would be too fast to keep up with.
as you be swinging you weapons about in real time having no time for your squad.
