Just started playing, have a few questions for those that have played before.

1. I started doing missions from that lady in that fort area, is the entire game running quests fromt hat one person ? Or does it branch out at one point ?

2. How does PVP come into play in COV ?

It branches. That one first contact will give you maybe 6 missions, then leads you to a second also in Mercy Island. You can skip this second contact if you want but unless you're around level 7-8 by then the next zone will be a little tough.

Once you hit around level 8 or finish the second contact, take the Ferry to Port Oakes. You will be given a special contact in Port Oakes called a broker, go to them and they give you a Newspaper.

This is where it branches out. You run missions based on stuff you read in the newspaper, and after a couple of those your broker wants to talk to you again. He gives you a special Bank Robbery mission called a "mayhem" mission where you go over to the hero zones and smash stuff. (Strictly PvE though). Once you come back from that, you talk to the broker again and he gives you a choice of contacts.

You repeat that throughout your career. Run missions out of the newspaper, do a mayhem, get a new contact. You can skip these contacts to go back to the newspaper, or run missions for them - they have some interesting story arcs and such.

If that's a lot to remember, then the smiple answer is "yes" and once you leave the low-level zone Mercy Island there will be plenty of options for you.

How does PVP come into play in COV ?
Well in that next zone (Port Oakes) there is an Arena, through which you can set up special PvP matches. But don't go there expecting to find something - you'll pretty much need to set up something with people beforehand.

    The PvP zones are:

Bloody Bay (15-25) Heroes vs Villains
Siren's Call (20-30) Heroes vs Villains
    Warburg (30-38) Free for all
Recluse's Victory (40-50) Heroes vs Villains

You'll find them on the maps in the appropriate level zones. You might not want to go looking for trouble in BB right at 15. It attracts people there to earn a temporary pet power. And while I say PvP vs them is a fair game, don't necessarily expect fair or happy competitors. People do PvP there but others just hope to be left alone so it's a wierd place.

Siren's Call is much more active as a PvP zone. There are also massive NPC vs NPC battles there so you can always jump into one of those as well. This you can get into at 20, and if you're anxious give it a shot. Look to hook up with a team there too.

Someone else might give you a better rundown on PvP but that's the basics you need to know. Just keep going down the path and read the missions you're sent, and it will all be pointed out to you sooner or later.

    Currently playing:
    DC Universe
    Planetside 2
    Magic Online

    1. Kalinda missions will branch out after about 6 of 'em; you'll choose a new contact. In the beginning you chose between Kalinda and Burke; Eventually Kalinda will offer you to a new contact.

    2. PVP will come after level 15; A new area, called Bloody Bay, will open up; you will have the ability to go in and fight heroes then. Also, for a more organized PvP, you can go into a Stadium at any level, and book a fight so you can fight heroes and villains alike.

Burke is kinda a bit linear..... he doesn't seem to offer too many contacts like Kalinda does.
