It's not a bad game. It has a nice level of polish which is a refreshing change from some of the more recent buggy releases. I think the dev's knew what they wanted and delivered it nicely. Nice graphics and plenty to do - they keep you busy. There's not a whole lot that is new going on here, but they add a few nice wrinkles (such as the deed system).
But for me, once the new mmorpg smell wore off, I became somewhat dissillusioned about the game. One thing that really deflated me was that after wading through endless quest grinds killing boars, bears, birds and bats, and finally moving on to new areas, I was tasked to kill more boars, bears, birds and bats and told to explore YET another set of ruins. I feel like I've been working through the same content over and over and over and over. Im still playing, but some days I can't make myself log in.
As I said, its not a bad game, and a good one for a casual player.
As for the discussions on the performance issues (especially in Bree), all that I can say is that I play with my wife. My system is somewhat newer than hers (an SLI rig and a AMD 4000+ 2 gigs of ram) and I get a little stuttering but not much. On her system however, (p4 - AGP - 2 gigs ram), it becomes a slideshow - especially near the prancing pony. So in our case, performance in this area is very system dependant. Outside of Bree, she has no problems at all.
Hey, I played a level or two of the stress test and then about an hour of the open beta. Not that I found the game really bad I was just very very busy! So now I'm wondering how good this game is and all that. I am a casual MMO player, I have a WoW account and I probably play 5 hours a week and its fun, but it can get old. Thank you for any help! (Sorry if this is an annoying post, but I just want an opinion from the players!)
Best MMO on the market, blows away WoW even tho they "borrowed" some ideas from WoW.. and even tho it is casual, I like it more then I thought I would being a hard core EQ raider..
I hated the beta of LotRO, thought it was really sucky.. but its actually amazing now and the world is a good size, but could be bigger and will be.. with the expansions and content DLs
If you would describe yourself as a "casual player" and if the thought of raiding the same godamn instance for a solid f-ing month to get your shiny new set of "+ten to e-peen" epics makes you want to kick some-one in the 'nads, then yes this probably is the best game on the market right now.
If you like "ganking newbs," love raiding, often find yourself thinking "harsh death penalties ftw!", and hate any game where there is a way to level your character more efficient than grinding one camp for a week and then moving on to the next one....you'll hate this game.
I don't want to write this, and you don't want to read it. But now it's too late for both of us.

I'll throw in my 2 cents here.
