Ownage or tankage?
Will this be a flop? - or the best MMO on the net when it hits the market?
I think it'll do good, the first EQ was mildly entertaining with very limited graphics, but the screenshots look great for this one... I wonder what the gameplay is like.....

Morrowind and all the expansions
Anarchy Online
Wish
Everquest and any of its decandants
Daggerfall (Good 'ol time-wasting 2D)
Neverwinter Nights and the expansions
There are more but i've seem to run out of space :P

I think it will do well, especially thanks to its name. Some might be turned off but many people have already heard of Everquest so the word of the name is out there... not they just need to get the people who have a negative thought of the game to give it a chance... many people badmouth EQ and SOE but have never actually played EQ... Everquest 2 will be probably the most immersive world thanks to its graphics and many of the things they are doing with the lore of the game.
You might have found Everquests graphics limited but I still think to this day they are some of the greatest out there... artistic wise. Go visit Temple of Veeshan or Plane of Air, some of the best zones I have seen and very creative. Just remember graphics don't make a game great, look at AC2... looks great but its total crap...

EQ2 will be ok, but WOW is where all the true ownage will be in the MMORPG genre!

A large majority of the bleeding edge, power gamer guilds from EQ are going to WoW. Almost makes me feel sorry for Blizzard.
But yea when EQ2 comes out ppl will be dropping WoW and comin to us.
Good! Let em go to Wow so i don't have to mess with them in EQ2

Why some people think that a online avatar is what the real person is like i dont know.
In my opinion I think EQII will be a long term game. Now what I mean by that is that this game may not do that well when it goes public, but will begin to flourish about 4-8 months after it is released. There are many reasons upon why I think this is, but let me go over why it is a long term game.
The games graphics engine was designed to out perform any system that is out right now, we all know that. But as well the character demographics and design are set up to be essentially limitless, in that anyone can become what ever combonation they want. This adds many layers of gameplay that most people dont see. Also this helps to hook people b/c they wont really see a need to create a twink, unless they wish to split off and try a new character class of course. The basic good vs. evil incorporated essentially from the beginning gives a division between people that will help give people some motivation to strive for something more. What I mean by that is when they incorporate PvP(which eventually they will) it will be great b/c you can focus your "hate" twoards a specific city, I see huge battle being waged between the cities in the later corse of EQII. Well, at least I hope so. But there will always be a carebear server as well, which I think most will be that!
Now the gritty, the graphics engine will deter quite a few people away b/c there system wont really be able to handle it. Lets face it, the graphics are ahead of its time and not everyone can afford top notch hardware. Now I know someone is going to say that it automatically adjusts to your systems specs, but even on its lowest settings I'm not sure every comp out there could handle this game, especially in the crowded cities. I'm hopeing that this wont be true when the game comes out, but I see there being alot of bugs and/or things that alot of people wont like....SWG.... Yes beta hasn't begun and that is what beta is for, but this game is huge and we all know that only about 10% of those that are let into betas actually spend there time looking for bugs. Everyone will /bug something, but the majority of people will be playing just to play. Upon the fact that some people wont like some of the aspects about the game when it goes live, I can't specify b/c beta hasnt begun and they may get rid of some of the stuff that will upset alot of people or they may be like blizzard and attempt to incorporate something that almost everyone hates like the "Rest State". It may not be that exactly but they may incorporate something that does the same thing that "Rest State" does which is aggrivate players. Eventually all of the bad things will be weeded out but I'm affraid that they may not all be gone untill a little while after it has launched. Though no game is launched bug free, but when it does launch there is alot of heavy competition that will be out before, during, and shortly after EQII's schedualed launch. BUT, I think EQII will appeal to alot of people and will eventually draw most people back to it due to all of it's new innovations to gameplay and the sheer endless limits of it. I could rant more upon the subject and there are many reasons why this is a long term game, but I gotta go, hope my oppinon helps a little bit, especially for those who think this game will be the greatest at launch time.

I agree that EQ2 will not be launched perfect; however, people will flock to it because of it's marketing campaign (movie theatre trailers!, ads in every gaming magazine for the past quarter at least).
EQ2's features and lore read like one of the most intricate and well thought out systems intended for massive consumption. It will be these depth of gameplay elements and the graphics engine that propel it into the stratosphere.
Now, whether or not I'm in the beta, I want them to get it started so EQ2 will launch!

Accually most hardcore EQ players would never play another sony release ever again so don't count on them not being in WoW..
And even if they don't go to WoW they will never go to EQ2.. Sony has made there bed no they have to lie in it.
Even if WoW sucks there is no way I would ever go to another Sony game. And my guild feels the same way. Most guild forums are full of the same talk after EQ Sony is going to be in trouble.
Cool, it sounds like there are a lot of people who think EQ and SOE suck... and that EQ2 will probably suck too which is why they'd much rather go and play a good MMORPG like WOW. Thanks for making my argument for me guys!
