Perfect MMORPG for me?

DeadEndDeadEnd Member Posts: 98

I am searching for a MMORPG. It doesn't matter whether it came out already or not!

I am currently playing LotRO but I'm a bit dissapointed about it having no real PvP. I'd like to know what game I should be choosing for the following: Housing, doesn't have to be now, may be in the future aswell. Good leveling posibilities and very much ways to build your character. Good PvP. I want it to keep being developed for years still, so I can really have fun in there and stay there for as long as I like. I'd like it to look good (not too old graphics) and have a good combat system. I think you can add it yourself, a MMORPG everyone wants and/or is waiting for.

I hope anyone can help me.

Oh yes, please if you tell me what game I should choose please tell me why aswell, why should I choose that one so badly?

I was thinking about WoW, but I have played that one for a long while, so I thought maybe there will come even better games.

Thanks for your time!

Marlon.

imo, dark age of camelot prob has the best pvp/rvr system currently, it has decent housing though 99% of the time housing is used as a market and storage as oppose to a community, leveling has been made much easier and solo friendly...can gain xp through grouping, solo, quests or pvp (best way and most fun) .

I believe warhammer will have a similar pvp system...wonder if they'll have stealth classes?

As of right now, I'm geeked for Tabula Rasa and WAR.  WAR looks good for the PvP/graphics side of things, whereas Tabula Rasa seems like it's going to have amazing game play.

Not sure what kind of games You like, but You could try Saga of Ryzom.

It have like 50% PvP and 50% PvE. A lot of griding for years to come.

I think it's pretty hard to find good PvP game as it's hard to find good PvE game.

For me, it's not all about PvP. It's a mix of everything. I just don't know what one to take.. hehe :D

I've played Asheron's Call 2 and I loved it. I might consider buying it again for sure.

For now I'm gonna wait and see what comes on my path. :)

Don't play myself any more but EQ2 has a beautiful world, housing, is totally emmersive in the right guild, has A LOT of development with (despite being SOE) attentive developers and has imo the best pvp ruleset I've played within in any rpg game with split utility for developers between pvp and pve damage and effects giving a better experience of both. It also has a decent crafting system, not great but decent enough.

Aren't LotRO and AC kind of the same games? If I quit LotRO, should I still consider playing AC? I thought they were like same.

I am in the same boat as you. I also play LOTRO. I am going to wait until their big patch this month to see what I am going to do. If LOTRO goes the way I don't like from this patch, I might reactivate my Eve account.

    City of Heroes/Villains.

    -  The PvP may be disappointing or be good, it depend on what you expect from PvP.  The PvP isn't balanced at all, never will be, and the devs outraged the PvE players enough so don't expect balancing too much...hopefully.

    - You don't have housing, you have guild bases...which is an overgrown and expensive housing system IMO.

    - Character customisation in look and in specifics powers/diversity is quite awesome, yet it is extremely simple to understand.  Simple to understand, hard to master.  I never saw 2 players that are identical in looks or in powers selection...and each power can be enhanced differently.  So you won't find someone who is exactly like you...unless you copy/paste a guide someone posts about exactly what to developp...more then 125 possibilities for classes, among a selection of 5 AT and about 25-30 primaries and 25-30 secondaries.  You can select a patron/epic power pool as well as 4 alternate power pools from more then 10.  The combinaisons make you unique.

    - The travel powers are incredible with full vertical movement, the travelling downtime is minimal...yet, nothing prevent you from travelling exploration at a slower pace, if you so choose.

    - Your character always progress in every possible sense of the term.  At level 1, you take on 2 minions level 1.  At level 50, you take on 10 minions level 52, 2 lieutnants, 1 bosse and 1 Elite bosse all level 52.  You are stronger then ever at level 50, not weaker then ever (aka check many MMO where you become a raiding larva, unable to do what a level 1 was doing, effectively managing decay and regression instead of progression)

    - Free expensions are released every 6 months or so.

    - Epic AT for heroes is already in, it will be coming soon for Villains...hopefully I10.

Thanks for the info. I don't think I want to play a super hero MMORPG though.

The thing that I'm stuck on is: Will I play WoW now and keep playing that, because that's what I'm thinking of. Only thing that I don't like is that Warhammer Online is coming out soon, and most say that it wil become better then WoW. Allthough I love WoW, when everybody keeps saying such thing you're starting to believe it.

It seems like there are loads of people waiting on Age of Conan, saying it will become even better then Warhammer Online. (actually you can't say which one is better, both haven't came out yet and it are 2 very different games) What I heard about Age of Conan is that it's gonna be single player too, but I think that's not something for a real MMORPG. What do you guys think about this?

Last thing I am stuck on. Diablo 3 will be coming out soon, and if it's a MMORPG I'm definitely gonna play it, because the Diablo series are my favorite of all time. Some saying it will come out within half a year, so that makes me wondering. Should I start with another MMORPG if I'm gonna have to throw it away for Diablo anyway? It will be a waste of time.

Last thing: I want to have to do something in my vacation when my girlfriends not around.

    Now: What should I choose!??!?!?

Thanks for the help and the time!

By what you say id say you should at least TRY Final Fantasy XI. You get player housing, that you can decorate, and expand storage space. The PVP is above all Original... most original ive seen yet. Ive been playing it since its JP Beta and been hooked ever since. Many choices to choose from, and you can always go back on the path you take, nothing is necessarily set in stone. You can change your job at anytime through your moghouse, and play around with different jobs. Only thing most people dont like about it is that it is HEAVILY group based, which is what i love about the game. At least worth a try, (oh yea.. sadly... to get the trial you have to buy the full game :( )

About a year ago when I first saw City of Heroes, I labeled it as the queerest idea for an MMORPG. I also labeled it as having horrid graphics, and there-fore probably really bad combat play/graphics. One year later, I could not be wrong. The game I once did nothing but judge because I was able to play WoW at the time is now the game that I payed one months' worth to get a better feel for. The 14-Day trial is what made me realized I might actually like the game, that is why I just had to buy one month to see if I would like it on a higher level. I'm not saying you'll like it just because you hated the idea like me, but there is a FREE 14-day trial for it, if you're absolutely bored out of your mind (like I was when I tried it), you might give it a shot just because you have nothing to lose.

Thing I don't like about FFXI is that it has an end game, so you can actually end the game instead of playing it forever without completing it.

If I'm wrong, tell me! If I am wrong, answer this question for me: Are there still bigger updates on FFXI? Does the game get updated with new content and new worlds etc. still?

yea your wrong... there is usually a big content update once every 2 months... and i mean a HUGE content update. Plus there is a new ecpansion coming out. And the end game doesnt end the game. There is so much to do in end-game that it usually does not get boring.
