my collectors edition came with a DVD for Burning crusade, much faster at installing.

although it also came with the standard CD case too..... it's probably why Europe Blizzard screwed up with the pets and we got Lurky as compensation. Which i'm fine with !

Guild wars, is the same though only Nightfall is the norm DVD standard.

It's a voluntary Survey. Not everyone with a PC submitted (70k+)....the stats are far from a true representation of ALL PC users.

Really though, chill, it's not that big of a deal unless you make it so...It took less than 20 minites to upgrade TBC w/ 5 CDs.

Both original WoW and TBC Collectors Editions came with both DVD and CDs. But as you say i dont understand why the "simpel" version of the game (any game for that matter) didnt come as a DVD. If they dont want to realese the game on DVD because of the small % of people who dont have a DVD player atleast you should get the option to choose a DVD or CDs.

burn ur wow folder onto a dvd if it bothers u that much, and  u dont need to keep the cd in the drive to play unlike CS/halflife which steam is aimed at

blizzard collects it's own stats.  and it obviously deemed enough users that play War3 and WoW to still be worth supporting.

I find it amazing that by 2020 first world countries will be competing to get immigrants.

Because CD is still the current common standard. You have to present your product to be usable by the lowest common denominator hardware in order to give access to the mass market. Altho DVDs are becoming widely popular.. not everyone can play a DVD yet on their PC but since a DVD can play both a CD and DVD that's the better medium to use.

If I recall correctly in the US its still cd:s for game releases (regardless of publisher). In Europe I haven't seen a game on cd for 4 years or so (sometimes even the same publisher as in USA).

I expect that Starcraft II will be on DVD when it's released, but that's at least a year away, maybe 2.

Well, Blizzard has a strong international following because they make an easy to use game that is not computer intensive.  Hence I predict they will release and sell a ton of starcraft 2 on the CD medium to tons of the asia crowd.

wat is dvd is that some new thing?

Yeah that would be good, its annoying that you have 3 cds for an expansion pack

I think its because its ment to run on everyones system, maybe they don't have dvd drives, although its hard to believe that someones computer is running an mmo and is that outdated.
