WAR recapitulation of it's features

OK, I'm very interested in this game but I haven't follow it like a geek. SO i don't know every bit of info they let out. With the beta sign-up, I belive it's the time for a lot of us to get a recapitulation, so this is for your expert, awnsers thy questions!

1. Regarding combat, will there be an Auto-attack? Auto-Aim? What type of skills leveling system do they use? What can we expect from combat?

2. The look of our avatar. Is it more realistic or cartoonish style? How customizable are our armors and weapons? What special features will we have acces to to make our avatar realy unique?

3. Items. Is it item centric or not?

4. Classes. How many class? And more importantly how versatile? Is it the old class role concept again?

5. RPG. Is it story driven or is it only a social environement with infite grind like most MMO to date? Or will we at last get some story involment and exitement questing?

These are the main questions I have, feell free to add more questions regarding new features and new ideas that this game can bring to us and to the genre.

Almost all of your questions can be found on the Game's website.

    Here's the url: www.warhammeronline.com

I hope you can find your way over there from that.  As for Story-Driven, there's a thread not too far down from this one titled "Quest Podcast."  I'd look there.  And the item-centric part is something we'll have to just wait and see about.

    1. It's hard to know unless you've played the game, not to mention the fact that anything in Beta can be changed. I'd say probably to auto-attack and definitely to auto-aim. So far they've claimed to have more lateral leveling system with more skills rather than just "higher leveled" skills. CoH is a good example of a lateral system. Vertical is when you have Fireball 1, then you get fireball 2, then you get uber-fireball which all do pretty much the same thing with different damage. I'd say it's too early to judge comabt. The coolest things I've heard though are the Squig Hearder's giant rolly squig(there's an offical video blog of it on the website, look it up) and how Dwarf Engineers fight. Dwarf Engineers are mainly ranged attackers, but a lot of their heavy attack are mid-range so they have to run up and risk melle to preform them. The example in the video of this was a grenade. I might just like grenades though.

    2. Look at the screen shots for yourself. Also, I wouldn't throw thing under (just) thecatagories of realistic or cartoonish. It's too early in Beta to know much about customisability. We do know thouh that each tier(5 groupings that replace "Levels" in WAR) has it's own armor. Higher teirs have more impressive armor and that there's armor you can get from special events(<not raiding events, there are no required PvE raids in WAR) that set you apart from the rest of the pack. They've also promised the ability to stick parts of your enemy(specifically their skulls) onto your armor as trophies.

    3. Has any game, in the history of MMOs, ever come out and said "Yes, we're item centric. We have lots of required PvE raids." Dude, that's really something you have to wait till release to say. The WAR Devs have promised that it will be more about player skill than who has what itmes though, so it depends on howm uch you trust their words.

    4. There's 4 classes per race. Each Class is unique to that race. Some people put them into catagories(DPS, Ranged attacker, Mage), I think it makes them seem like clones of each other, when they really aren't. Versitility is something you'll have to wait and see for. The Devs are promising that it's going to be like collage, where you have your majors(the things that define your class like Melle Attack or Ranged Magic), the secondaries which kind of relateto your class but nopt everyone will have, then elective which are like fun things. I think you really shoudl look at some primary sources(The offical website :cough: :cough:) and form your own opinions.

    5. It's RvR Based. From day one you'll be struggling against the other side. That's the theme of it so to say. If your just looking for something more story based than most MMOs, I'd look elsewhere but it's not going to be a sociol grind either. I think yo ushould look at the Dev blogs(Especially Paul's Video Blogs) for what the gameplay will be like.

Long story short. Look at the offical damn website, NOOB!

When I saw recapitulation in your subject, I just had to post. I have nothing constructive to add, but I hope we all find out the answers to your questions as time goes on.

    so...

These are the main questions I have, feell free to add more questions regarding new features and new ideas that this game can bring to us and to the genre.

1.There more than likely will be an auto-attack, i cant see them making us hit attack every few seconds :S The lvling system is expecte to be much like DAoC, with tiers and ranks (10 ranks per tier, i think :S). From combat you can definetlyu expect alot of combat. The game is reli focused around combat, so much so that even healers have to fight if they want to be any good at healing there team mates. :D

2.The avatar in my opinion looks amazingly real, some of the best graphics ive seen on an mmo, and this is pre beta :D. The customiseation of the armour will be immense, u can hantg trophies form your armor to show off your skills, likE dwarven hammers or orc skulls, so every character will be quite uniqe up to a point :D. Also as you increase in ranks your characters changes to show the strength of your character e.g. Dwarves beards get longer, Orcs get bigger and muscler.

    3. So far not much has been relised on the armor system, but i am guessing they would use something like daoc, in that u can gather armor from pvp and pve, but also make alot of your armor as well, this is only a guess so do not take this for granted :(

    4. The classes vary alot in this game,  comapred to other games. There are two sides as you know, each with 3 armies, Each army consists of 4 unique classes, that 12 per side, a total of 24 different classes, which is nice. They all have there basic catagories, like chaos tank (chaos choosen) goblin tank(black orc) but they will vary greatly, as the choosen will be gifted from chaos etc. Thehealing system will also be greatly different in this game as so far the only named main healer is the chaos zealot, but in order to heal he will also have to get into the fight and ripe some ppl apart :D this takes away the concept of a healer standing behind a party and mindlessly pushing buttons. (May i also add that there will be collision with enemies i.e. you cant walk through enimies :D good for protection :) You can look at the official site for details on the classes, they can explain them alot better than me, but trust me, there are some interesting new ideas in there.

    5. The RPG is widely story driven, it is even split up into chapters like a book, and different sizes of quests will spread over all the game, meeting different ppl exploring different places :D and the best thing is there is a different story for each race, so there is major playability in this game :D I advise watching the most recent podcast on quests, it is very very interesting, almost orgasmis :D
