I played fury today

shadowhackshadowhack Member Posts: 102
I was at the Go3 game expo in australia perth toda and fury had a 4v4 tournament set up, first 5 mins, i didnt know wtf i was doing but once i got going and knew how everything worked it was FRIKKEN AWESOME! the main thing about fury is that it was fast, the battles where sort of long but when ur in combat it was awesome, i played with 2 different characters, a character with melee spells and two healing spells and i played a fire mage type character who wielded two swords.

I like caster characters myself in mmorpgs and playing one in fury was better than i expected. all my spells where instant cast  and i had charge spells so you have to do average spells which for each spell u cast u get like 2 charges, and these charges can make avaible higher spells to use, another thing i noticed was i hd two ranged fire spells and i had two fire spells which required me to attack someone with my melee weapon and it does some fire damage and maxium weapon dmg, so even though iam a caster i could use some melee weapon fire spells, which i think was one of the best ideas for an mmorpg.

the arenas  played in where basically symetrical and they had all different buffs around the place like strength buff, or +250 heal and even +1000 heal.

The fire spells i was also able to cast on the run, making the caster option even better ti play.

Graphics wise the game was pretty impressive , i just hope there is some blood effects when u die or get hit badly and maybe it even stained the floor :P.

i played the game for about 45 mintues, and i didnt want to stop really, the pvp was much more fun than WoW  or GW pvp.

The only problem i see right now is how are they going to keep people hooked on the game? if its only pvp?. i guess il have to wait until beta /sigh

Overall i thought the game was unique , fun to play , easy to play ( A girl about 6-8 years of age was playing on my team, and she was actually doing quite well)

and i think this is going to be a  popular game, especially for pvp fanatics :)

nice, i really do like the thing u mention where u was a fire mage with duel swords, and had to engange in melee combat to activate a skill.... sounds promising and something new :) im looking forword to it.

you actually have to use a skill to attack someone, you dont attack if u just double click someone and stand around them, you have to do a  spell, it was cool though how i was a fire mage and i could do sweet melee damage :)

    Glad you enjoyed it Shadowhack!

GO3 was a great opportunity for us to show off how the game is progressing, and I hope lots of people came away feeling the same way that you did.

Short term this game looks/sounds awesome.....I just don't know about the long term appeal.  There are tons of cool things with this game, but I think it lacks in a lot of areas (i could be wrong).  I don't know nearly enough to hype this one either way though..so i guess only time will tell.

Yep, pure PvP. Team and individual, so if you enjoy PvP games there's probably a game mode that you'll find to you liking.

Fury pricing model information is yet to be announced. I can however tell you that it will be an optional subscription, with the core game being free - but additional bonuses for subscribers (but nothing that gives them a game play advantage).

imo this is a lie. There is going to be some sort of gameplay advantage for a paid subscriber. Otherwise what would be the point in paying?

Should definitely copy Guild Wars with buying the game and expansions. Subscriptions make people feel like they are paying more money than they actually are. Most casual gamers see subscriptions as a waste of money because they typically buy more than 1 game a month anyway, so adding a $ amount every month makes them feel like they are spending too much. I personally dont see the logic in this.. Obviously $15 a month compared to 2 $50 games a month is cheaper, but whatever.

Either make it free with advertising on the arena walls n shit or have a paid option for people that dont want to see the ads. Many people won't even touch this game just because it is using the asian game marketing technique.

Short version: FULL GAME OR NO GAME. Offer the FULL game on a time trial to hook players into buying your game.

You can offer a subscriber plenty of things outside of gamplay advantages, as an incentive.

Fury is a competitive game, it would be ridiculous to offer any kind of combat advantages to subscribers and we recognize that.

Well if the game is pure PvP then "outside of gameplay advantages" are what? Gameplay = the content of a game.

If subscribers get extra gear than that will most definitely effect gameplay. Fighting a person that has better gear or abilities that you can not obtain unless you subscribe is going to give them the edge over you. So again, LIES until you correct me with specifics on how this won't effect gameplay.

How about the look of the gear?  Did you think about that?  There are plenty of people out there obsesed about how their avatar in game looks like.  If they give them different phisical looks to the items, weapons and armor they wear they might be inclined to pay money to get it.

It will NOT affect game play because it has no impact on stats or the damage of the player.  Simply put  a saber is a saber no matter how you slice it, yes pun intended.  My saber just might look different then yours.

No required quests! And if I decide I want to be an assassin-cartographer-dancer-pastry chef who lives only to stalk and kill interior decorators, then that's who I want to be, even if it takes me four years to max all the skills and everyone else thinks I'm freaking nuts. -Madimorga-

If you are into PvP, Fury is for you. If you come from some FPS background, Fury is very appealing.

What I like most sofar about Fury is the actual skill component involved in the battles - once you reach atleast progression level 3-4 - but from then on its quite a blast to play.

Now i just need to upgrade my PC to play the game as its meant to be :p
