They might be more aggressive on ero servers? But they are not aggressive at all on lionna. Maybe more money to be made on your servers so they pursure it more.
Ive been on Bartz and they where aggresive there, it's probly because your server has such a low population that the farmers dosen't want to chase anyone out off the game
No, it's not dead though it does (seemingly) have less people than when it started. Still, if you can make it to the higher lvl game you will see many people and quite a lot of fighting. However, the starter towns are pretty quiet. The game just doesn't have the influx of new blood that other games have. Quite frankly, it either "hits you" or it doesn't as to whether or not the game is for you. After that you have to work for it in order to really see what the game has to offer.
Has the same issues with currency and botting that other games have.
True its not dead, but no new people should start playing it.
1. Farmers on most servers are a big problem
2. pvp is really screwed most classes can 1 hit other classes, witch is no fun in pvp, they's also constant nerfs to ceartian classes and overpowering others with each patch, making some classes able to kill everyone else.
Not to mention that with crappy gear, you lose almost every pvp and that's what you end up with unleass someone supports you with gear, ebay or work the market
well they's a lot more bad things about it but the worst is that almost everyone bots in the game, and ncost refuses to do they jobs right so people take the esay way out, and that's why i quit
I did not say bots are not a problem, i just hate the way people generalize this game as a PK fest with bots in every area and no place to play. This is just not so. The community (on Lionna) is not bad and unless you are in one of the big/pvp clans you will not usually get pvp ever. If you did get killed, so what its a game and it doesn't happen often.
But its true, most of the sever is empty these day. Back in year 2004 there was lots of people playing around and I guess its was kinda fun back then. However the server is pretty hollow now. You neer spot any people around, in fact I almost consider sometime that there is more bots then real people around. I will kinda say that Bots might have killed L2 some why and other. The community is not the best, its kind hard to get any help at all. All the major guild only care for themself, buts that fine cos then they can play with themself and the bots in the end. I think you are willing to lie about certain things Mr. Common-man in order to get new people to play the game in a hope to fill you own server. Face its over, 3 year ago............
i woulden't recommend any new players to play this game or even to try it to waste time, the botting is just killing this game, and its just getting worse so you either bot or don't play at all. But why start up in a game to bot in it?
i dont think your post was for me but i am biased at this game and the company behind it
I think you can't say people are right or wrong here.
1 Thing is for sure and that is that their are serious problems with bots, but don't you have that in every mmo? I mean their is money to be made and most times the people that are on the bad side, hackers etc, make just more money then the people that make the game. So yeah their 's botting in l2 and yeah in starter town you'll meet lots of bots and yeah it sucks.
But their are enough other people that aren't botting, like someone said before me. If their where more farmers/bots then 'normal' players nobody would buy their stuff, so they would be gone before you even realised. But it's very true they're f*cked up, not aggressive btw.
Now about the population, well yes, they're a bit picky about who they want in their alliance/raid etc. But if you've to be fair wouldn't you prefer some1 that's a few levels higher in your group, someone who helps you go up a few levels quite easy? Yes? Well everyone want's that, so what does it mean, you've got to try harder. If you like a challenge l2 is THE game for you, if everything has to be easy go play diablo 2 or something where you're max level in a week or 4 without even playing that much.
But is it impossible to play in a nice group, no it isn't. My main charachters are dwarfs and i dit a lot of raids. Exctualy I leveled a dwarf from level 20 to 40 only with doing raids. And believe me a dwarf doesn't add that much good fighting skills. As dwarf you just have to make some friends, you're the market man, make some soulshots cheap for your party and they'll invite you next time as well.
I mean it's easy you're a dwarf, so you can make items, find items etc. You aren't a fighter so meet up with some fighters and combinate your skills. And no i didn't play in a clan or something just talk to people and don't expect them only to help you, help them as well.
And well about gaining items, gear etc, the economy. Well it isn't that hard if you are happy with good gear, but everyone wants top grade and yeah that isn't that easy. But then again if everyone wears top grade what's the fun about having top grade? For me it's a challenge to gain top gear i like it i like the grind i like the challenge. For me if their is no challenge why would i play the game?
Btw their are a lot of quests to help starters you get free soulshots and stuff like that.
So this're my 50 cents i think it's worth a try!
Edit:
I totaly forgot about the pvp. pvp in lineage2 is great, it's one of the best things in game. If you're just playing the change you're getting pked is small. Why cause the penalty for pking is that you become free to kill and the change you lose a item well you die is bigger as well. It's even possible to totally ruin a great charachter by pking many people. So the change to meet some1 constantly pking you is very small cause they kill theirself to.

So yeah their 's botting in l2 and yeah in starter town you'll meet lots of bots and yeah it sucks. yes all games has bots, but with l2 they dont ban em at all, they dont care about bots they care about how much money they earn http://www.l2guru.com/forum/showthread.php?t=77552 just check it out 54% seems to agree with me that 90% off the people who play bots in this game... Its not farmers who are the main problem, its other players who bots up they lvls and take the castle's wins all pvp and such
But their are enough other people that aren't botting, like someone said before me. If their where more farmers/bots then 'normal' players nobody would buy their stuff, so they would be gone before you even realised.
no the majorty in l2 bots, and more and more turns to the esay way, since ncsoft proved sevral times they dont give a fuck.
But it's very true they're f*cked up, not aggressive btw. true they don't start fights, but they take up all catacombs necropolish 50+ spots so to get a room you likly have to kick em out, and that's when they attack you
Now about the population, well yes, they're a bit picky about who they want in their alliance/raid etc. But if you've to be fair wouldn't you prefer some1 that's a few levels higher in your group, someone who helps you go up a few levels quite easy? its not a challangede to play pve in l2 pvp isen't really that hard, depends on class tho but without party's you have to solo and soloing sucks..

Yes they do ban bots it just takes way too long for them to act( about a month) and they have had a mass ban about 4 months ago that turned all the servers light. Then they released a free trial and undid all the good work. But they are tryin. There are just bitter ex-players on this forum that doesn't like the game. Fair enough. But the game is still better than most i think. Its not a PK fest and the grinding is tough. The economy is very tough and now the bot/farmer players are too ingrained in the game to safely remove them all. And economy where you remove the slave labor will colapse. But take what everyone is sayin here with a grain of salt and just try the game. I think most will be pleasantly surprised. And never take some ones word if they have not played in a year.

yes they ban bots randomly sometimes, to make it look like they care... but you can report people who bots for 4 months or forever, and 99% off the times nothing will happen
also when they ban someone out off a train, tell me why they ban 1 or 2 people out off a 9 man Train who has all been on walker for 24/7, together and on at the same time?
and they have had a mass ban about 4 months ago that turned all the servers light.
is they any proof? who says it was a mass ban they might have banned 50 people from all the different server's they can be lots off reasons why the servers are light....

(yere i like linking it its beat's player x saying this game bans bot and player y saying they dont)
if that many people can bot in this, game how can they ban em without killing the game? The botting has only gotten worse and worse, and it contiune that way
Plz let it rest, you dislike the game. This is about game population, not why the game is broke/wrong/ending. The servers are light because of the ban and it felt that way in game too as the catas were empty. Lionna is a great server with a influx of new players from greece(most speak english almost all the time, yah for americanism) and the population is pretty stable. All other conserns you can live with or not but thats up to the individual.

The bot developers laugh at that kind of statement. Its known that L2Walker and L2Superman still use deprecated message types and other protocol anomolies that should not be seen in communications with the official servers. Its my understand that some of these message types are from L2 protocol versions used in Prelude and C1. NCSoft knows when someone logs into their servers using these programs. They just think a botter's money is as good as yours and if they can keep the money of both, cheater and noncheater, then they win in the end. So they have played this absurd game of token bans and proclamations about their committment to eliminating the bot onslaught while doing everything they can to keep as much bot revenue pouring in as possible.
The bans that occurred through late 2006 into early 2007 were part of NCsoft's campaign to revive the game. You will recall it coincided with the release of the "Epic Collection" and 14 day free trials. The campaign was a bust of course as demonstrated by the retailers inability to move the game at retail prices and the price of the collection plumeted to $10 dollars for the game and a 15 day timecard. Even now the retailers still have plenty in stock they are eager to get rid of. But it seems not many new players are interested. Now NCSoft finds themselves in a position where continued decline of the game is inevitable and most of their current nonfarmer player base are botters or are nonbotters that have demonstrated their willingness to play the game despite the rampant cheating. What do you think they are going to do? As far as NCSoft is concerned Its back to business as usual. We have probably returned to the late C2 through C4 days when reporting a bot was most often a waste of time. The bots that have refilled the servers are not new cheaters. They are the same old ones that have been selling adena on websites and playing the game probably since it went live in North America.
Im paying for playing on the servers. The server is running from a private company in California. Also private Lineage 2 are not illegal, that they are not supported by the devolpers.
LOL WHAT !!! WOW, you really need to educate yourself. Private servers are INCREDIBLY illegal, whether you're paying for it not. What you are NOT doing is paying NCSoft/PlayNC to be playing their game. You are stealing and using stollen code.
Over and above that you are clearly ignoring the TOSA and EULA you agreed too when you installed the game on your computer, which means if caught, you can also be held criminaly liable.
Above all this, you're playing a private server which means all your comments above come from pure ignorance of the actually facts which come from the official game servers. Please, if your going to comment to a newbie, comment on the official (LEGAL) servers.
You are mistaken. All private servers are not illegal. Only those using stolen official code such as L2Extreme are illegal. Private servers running L2J are completely legal.

I have played since Beta (3 years), last month I decided to cancel my subscription.
I have not words to describe how I hate the people that use boots and ruined the game (I hate NCSoft too).
I gues that I'll be back for try a Kamael and then if the Bot/Farmer problems persist I'll cancel my subscription forever
About Private Servers:
They are a big problem and only NCSoft can do something to stop Private Servers with "new content", because NCSoft can't stop all the Private Servers that they are actually, but they can improve their security against hackers or ex-employees
About L2J:
It's clear, it's an emulator and it's 100% legal.
-Non legal is If the server owner modify L2 Client or earn money with the server.

Emulators are illegal, you cannot always trust what private servers say, they are twisting the truth to justify their means.
I cut a pasted the following from NCSOFT Lineage 2 EULA found under Addendum 7, which specifically mentions the use of emulators:
NC Interactive has designed Lineage II for official play only as offered through the Service by NC Interactive at the Web Site and not through any other means. You further agree not to access, create or provide any other means through which Lineage II may be played by others, as through server emulators. You agree not to use any hardware or software, including but not limited to third party tools, or any other method of support which may in any way influence or advantage your use of the Service which is not authorized by NC Interactive, including but not limited to the use of ‘bots’ and/or any other method by which the Service may be played automatically without human input. You acknowledge that you do not have the right to create, publish, distribute, create derivative works from or use any software programs, utilities, applications, emulators or tools derived from or created for Lineage II, except that you may use the Software to the extent expressly permitted by this Agreement. You may not take any action which imposes an unreasonable or disproportionately large load on our infrastructure. You may not sell or auction any Lineage II accounts, characters, items, currency or copyrighted material for real-world money or items or services of any value, nor may you assist others in doing so.
I hope this clears things up about emulators, L2J, etc. It does not make a difference too lineage 2 or NCSOFT whether you make a profit or not, it is illegal either way.
The whole money issue (donations or profit) is a tax and IRS issue.

No ...
The developers of L2J are not bound by the L2 EULA. The reason for this is that L2J is not derived from any code developed or owned by NCsoft. It was created from analysis of the the L2 protocol captured by sniffing network traffic. The EULA is between NCsoft and the users of **their** software. L2J is 100% legal and there has never been an instance of NCSoft or law enforcement taking civil or criminal action against a private server operator for running the emulator. They can't, it doesn't violate any copyright laws.
Another thing, NCSoft isnt a civil authority. They dont get to decide what is legal or illegal. They are just like you and me. If they feel their civil rights have been violated they can make a claim and argue it in court. They never have in L2Js case. If they feel something criminal is going on like theft and purchase of their code (e.g. L2Xtreme) they can report it to law enforcement. They have never reported L2J to law enforcement because they don't own that code.

The bottom line is that L2J is legal.
Are you also sayiing that they don't own the artwork? I can't speak for the code though I highly doubt you are correct.
Otherwise, someone could "sniff" music downloads then take those downloads and use them however they want (if I am understanding your position correctly). We all know you can't do that.
Also, the names, storyline (such as it is... but quests, etc) are all written by employees of NC soft and are owned by NC soft. And what of the music in L2?
There has to be another reason why this L2J is not being shut down. Clearly NC owns assets of L2. Intellectual property is Intellectural property.
Like Skyrim? Need more content? Try my Skyrim mod "Godfred's Tomb."

1. L2J has no "artwork." The game is rendered by the client not L2J. The client is the intellectual property of NCsoft and if you use it you are bound by the EULA. L2J servers do not use or distribute client software. They merely provide the server component of the system. End users aquire the client by buying it from retail stores or downloading it from NCsoft then they modify their windows host file (also not owned by NCsoft) to point to the L2J server instead of the official servers.
2. The sniffed data itself was not incorporated into L2J. The sniffed network traffic was used to deduce the format of the data (i.e. the protocol used between client and server). For example, if you sniff a mp3 on the network you do not become the owner of that data. But, you can use the sniffed data to deduce the file format of a mp3 file. Once you understand the mp3 file format you can then write a legal program to play mp3 files. This is essentially what L2J does. The L2J developers deduced the L2 protocol from studying the network traffic between server and client and then wrote their own program to process the protocol. L2J makes no claim of ownership to the data crossing the wire. This is the main reason why its a legal program.
3. Again, L2J doesnt provide content, artwork, music, storyline, etc. All that stuff is done client side and is owned by NCsoft.
On the surface L2 appears to be heavily populated. You go to Giran or Aden or Goddard and there are a ton of people logged in. But unless you are in the 'elite" lv70+ population then you will rarely see another active human being who isn't AOE farming with twinked alts in the cats or running a bot train.
"Can I tell you a secret? I see stupid people. Walking around like regular people. They're too stupid to notice each other. They only see what they want to see. They don't even know they're stupid. [I see them] all the time. They're everywhere."
The game is a lot of fun, there are many many people playing this game. It's definitely not an "easy" game... The game has a lot to offer and continues to grow in content, etc. Give the game a month or so to try. If you don't like it, quit, and go play some other game that's better suited to you. Some people can handle this game, others cannot.. simple as that. Oh, and if you do bot, ebay or cheat in any fashion, please DON'T give this game a try... the game is better without you.

no one should play this game but i have to disagree with you if someone wantet to play this game, it would be better if the person was a cheater...
pretty dead server and a few others becoming like it, and off course ncsoft hasen't given the option to transfear your character to a new server before and probly wont in a year, or when they shut down the server.

so they don't care so stay away
Rune is one of the newest castles added, and is a tough siege. It appears that all castles are conquered on all servers except Rune on Erica.
Lineage2 is developed out of South Korea, using a modified Unreal engine. There are designated servers worldwide.. Korea, China, Japan, Taiwan, Thailand, North America and Europe. It also boasts a subscriber list of 14 million people worldwide. NCSOFT also has a portfolio of games such as City of Heroes, and Guild Wars, amongst others. Lineage2 has been out for now 3 years, and has been continuously updated since release. The North American subscriber list pales in comparison to the Asian market, but this is likely due to NCSOFT really never pushing/advertising the game for a North American audience.
Are there negatives to L2, of course, otherwise it would be the "perfect" game. Since everyone's opinions are different, there is no "perfect" game. Is L2 a great game --- definitely, in my opinion. Should you try it and judge it yourself?... definitely!
Occasionally, NCSOFT offers free trial periods.... if you have a friend that purchased it, the box usually comes with a free friend trial. You should be able to find a boxed version of L2 for $10 to $20, with a free month (and item -- in certain boxes). Apparently, all NCSOFT game cards can be used on any of their games -- so if you find a card at some store for City of Heroes... it will work for L2 also (pretty sure of that). You can also download the game from www.lineage2.com.
pretty dead server and a few others becoming like it, and off course ncsoft hasen't given the option to transfear your character to a new server before and probly wont in a year, or when they shut down the server.
so they don't care so stay away
Rune is one of the newest castles added, and is a tough siege. It appears that all castles are conquered on all servers except Rune on Erica.
its not controlled because they aren't enof players on Erica and Rune was added months ago, just ask someone from the server, at castle sieges they lucky if they get 4 party's on each side thats 36 people...

it's not the advertising thats lacking its the carelessness off the company NCsoft.
yes the other contry's has many players but most servers in North America and Europe is pretty dead, and the population has only decreased over the last years, and will contiune that way...

True its not dead, but no new people should start playing it.1. Farmers on most servers are a big problem
2. pvp is really screwed most classes can 1 hit other classes, witch is no fun in pvp, they's also constant nerfs to ceartian classes and overpowering others with each patch, making some classes able to kill everyone else.
Not to mention that with crappy gear, you lose almost every pvp and that's what you end up with unleass someone supports you with gear, ebay or work the market
well they's a lot more bad things about it but the worst is that almost everyone bots in the game, and ncost refuses to do they jobs right so people take the esay way out, and that's why i quit
i dont think your post was for me but i am biased at this game and the company behind it
Hello,
I think you can't say people are right or wrong here.
(yere i like linking it its beat's player x saying this game bans bot and player y saying they dont)
if that many people can bot in this, game how can they ban em without killing the game? The botting has only gotten worse and worse, and it contiune that way
The bans that occurred through late 2006 into early 2007 were part of NCsoft's campaign to revive the game.
LOL WHAT !!! WOW, you really need to educate yourself. Private servers are INCREDIBLY illegal, whether you're paying for it not. What you are NOT doing is paying NCSoft/PlayNC to be playing their game. You are stealing and using stollen code.
Read through here to get a quick idea: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Lineage_II
Over and above that you are clearly ignoring the TOSA and EULA you agreed too when you installed the game on your computer, which means if caught, you can also be held criminaly liable.
You can read that here: http://www.plaync.com/help/eula_lineage2.html I would suggest reading adendum 7. THOROUGHLY.
Here's a nice little article about what happened to L2Extreme, by the way they were saying the same things as you just did before they all got caught. Read here: http://www.gamasutra.com/php-bin/news_index.php?story=11786
Private servers running L2J are completely legal.http://www.l2guru.com/forum/showthread.php?t=78845
I loved this game...
When I die, I want to go peacefully like my Grandfather did, in his sleep -- not screaming, like the passengers in his car.
I think that the first EULA didn't have these phrases.

Godfred's Tomb Trailer: https://youtu.be/-nsXGddj_4w
Original Skyrim: https://www.nexusmods.com/skyrim/mods/109547
Serph toze kindly has started a walk-through. https://youtu.be/UIelCK-lldo
