Due to issues with the Vendor Pack up thing, they've put the Deomlition off until the 12th.

great to see they are giving it priority, i would rather then delay it to fix possible problems :)

have you noticed that they seem to be delaying alot of things nowadays, great that they are testing before acting, really good sign :)

They have good intentions, but this messed up my plans unfortunately. :(

I leave for vacation on the 15th, so I won't be here most of the time.  All the houses would probably be gone by the time I got back.  I guess I'll need to have a friend log on and do it for me then.

Really good sign of what? That the game has a new hope of a future?

what i meant was that in the past they were allways to hasty to release patches or take action without testing properly first.

they release, then fix bugs with bunch of minor patches while players have to go through weeks of suffering bugs.

but the last few releases were well delayed and well tested, and in doing so the bugs have been minor.

which would you rather have ?

    quick, but faulty patches ?

or well tested delayed patches ?

People can only blow up 10 a day.  Depending on how long you're gone, there should still be houses to blow up when you get back, you'll probably just need to go look around a bit for them.

Houses are still going to be everywhere.  There are so few people playing and those people only really play in Mos Eisley Starport, Mos Eisley Cantina and the Rori Restuss shuttleport area.  So what does it matter that there are houses everywhere.

All structures placed by an account should be deleted after one month of no pay, period.  Vendors and every item inside.  Deleted, not stored or packed up.

This only shows that SOE is still more concerned about potential subscribers or resubscribers than the current player base.  And that is still SOE's biggest flaw.

The fact that they even have trouble with vendor pack-ups should be an indication that there are some serious issues underneath the hood.  Vendors only act as an interface or conduit to a database, if the code was written properly the first time around, it would have been a trivial thing to do.

I don't blame the current developers for the sad state of the code base left by their predecessors.  But it's fairly obvious that right now, it's little more than a jumble of spaghetti code.  SOE can't even add basic things without breaking other features or without those things not working because of the way the game is written.

The current developers need to take the next few chapters and spend them doing a complete refactoring of the entire code base.  It may mean no major updates for a while, but in the end, future updates would be much easier and much faster to implement and would come with a lot less bugs.

i personally want to steal everything in the people that leave the house when i destroy it.. i have had some intense lag, and im sure these unused houses are one of the many factors, so i think we should be able to steal say 1 item from each house we destroy.. that makes it a little bit fairer!

I think they got it right, I wouldnt want to take anything that did'nt belong to me. And to destroy someones account totally would be unjust. Those people that played dumped their fair share of money into SWG and their lives. Just getting rid of their property lot is fine by me, I have been waiting for this certain spot to open up on my server and that person got a (Abandon  Tag) on it.

Damn I was on vacation at the beach and did not find out about this until Sunday night.  I had a day off work scheduled. Guess I will have to reschedule......

Oh well as long as they get it right........

Great , another week to scrape together $15.00 to save my house that I used for 40 days in the past 2 years.

I use my Disney Time share more then that  and that costs me $101.0 a month.

    Unaware of the Jestor?

The needs of the current players outweigh the needs of those who no longer play.  While the house pack-up may free up real estate and make the landscape less of an eyesore, the houses and everything in them will still be clogging up the database and wasting server resources.

God, why the hell is this so hard?

If it runs out of maintenance, destroy it.  Screw the pack up BS.  The vets that left 2 years ago aren't coming back, and if they do, all the junk they had is going to be irrelevant anyway.

Well uhm if I put it this way. One way the the former USSR/CCCP/Soviet call it what you want had their spy or rather could get their spies to work for them was that they knew that they would be taken good care of incase of if...

What I mean with the analogy. Is that the game is persistent, people invest hell of alot of time in playing and suddenly something happens they get bored or something else gets in the way, the reason doesn't matter. If you felt there was a chance that your character was to be deleted there also a chance people would choose any other game to starters. Deleting characters and there stuff should really really be something that you with EMPHASIS on really be careful with.

So houses as one may look on some servers, shure ok it good and a good gimmick. Deleting characters and possessions well... That would be death blow to many MMO's both present and future.

I'm so broke. I can't even pay attention.

Remember nothing is being deleted. No characters are being deleted, no houses are being deleted, no items are being deleted. The entire demo day is simply going to give the current player base an extra activity.  The houses will simply be put into the players Datapad ( not deleted) to clear up the land.

The reason for the delay is an issue with some of these houses which have vendors in them. They are doing everything in there power to make sure no one loses a single item.......

Again no one's characters are being deleted, no one's items or houses are being deleted,   they are simply being stored away in there datapad.....
