Cost of broadband internet

I've been wondering about which country has the best internet service as of now. I know the U.S truly sucks in high speed internet so I figured it'd be nice to compare our specifications and cost :)

(Try to add your taxes and convert in US dollars)

Canada -  (Videotron service)

Cost    =     $40/Month

Type    =     Cable Modem

Speed =      D/L  -  750 KB (or 6 Mb)

                  U/L  -  100 KB (or 0.8 Mb)

    Comcast - $52.00 for 16 Mbps, 768 Kbps upload. At least that's what they say.  Speeds vary, though.  They make sure they use words like "up to"  and "speeds not guaranteed" so who knows?  Right now they're having a sale for that 3 way thingy.  $99 for TV, Internet, Phone but the 16 Mbps will still cost $10 more.  And it's only for 6 months, but it's a good and cheap 6 months.

    They have no choice but to us words like "up to". Its a shared bandwidth service so there will always be ups and downs depending on how many people are using the service in your area.

    Charter NC 49.98 5mb dl

    Never had a single problem with Comcast in the US... and I have had it in 3 different locations over the years.

    Comcast Cable.. I don't even know how much anymore... $49/ mo I guess.

    Wow, nice download speed with Comcast, do they only serve highly populated areas of the U.S or?

    They say that anywhere you get their cable you can get internet. I used to live out in the middle of nowhere and the service was excellent there too. Even through ice storms I would be bundled up in my shack playing CS and what not with great pings :D

    I did that just now and got this:

    I did it twice more and got 8.5 and 8.6.  I'm sure it varies much more that usually.  It lucky timing, I think.  I don't think many people would even need anything that good to do most personal things or even most jobs.  It's a luxury that probably never gets used to it's full potential.  My husband works from home and uses several computers together and things going in and out and up and down 24/7 and still that's probably way more than we need.

    I never saw that site before but I ran it about 10 times...

    This was average:

    High was 19... low was 12

    I just ran it about 10 times like you did and it varied from 4.2 to 19.7.  It was all over the place in a span of a couple of seconds.  No wonder the internet makes me seasick!
