Guardian: "Best defense" warrior. Has a lot of defensive skills but not as strong in the damage dept. Really fun if you like being the dependable tank in all situations. You'll rule as "best defense".
Berserker: Excellent defense with good dps. Nearly as good as a guardian in defense, but has a higher dps to hold agro. With good equipment, has been known to tank any mob in the game.
Paladin: "Holy warrior". Can tank most anything in game including raids. Uses healing for support and defense. One of the best support tanks in the game.
Shadow Knight: "Unholy warrior". Can tank most anything in game including raids. Uses power and life drains for support and defense. Really good support tank. Higher dps than a paladin, but not as much healing.
Monk: Martial arts warrior. Can tank most anything and even some raids. Would have trouble with X4 big raids because of mitigation and agro control. High dps, can reach scout dps, and ability to pull without fear. Can feign death if something goes wrong.
Bruiser: Martial arts warrior. Same as monk with a bit more dps, tends to mitigate better as well, but still wouldn't put him mt in a x4 raid zone.
Guardians and Berserkers can be good or evil. Paladins and Monks can only be good. Shadowknights and Bruisers can only be evil.
"Granted thinking for yourself could be considered a timesink of shorter or longer duration depending on how smart..or how dumb you are."
For a solo/small team fighter, Bruiser, Shadowknight or Berserker would be good. Bruiser and Berserker pump out some nice DPS and Shadowknight can lifetap to keep themselves alive.
I played with a monk in game with my fury... I gave up trying to out dps him lol. So I just healed and threw in the odd nuke while he just owned everything. I then lost track of him in a dungeon and he did the feign death. Me being a noob thinking he finally died, tried to heal him when I found him. lol
I personally would go with a tank that could heal themselves, even marginally. That way you can have an easier time soloing AND should you be in a raid and the priests run out of power, its always good to have that one heal in such a case. So I'd say monk / bruiser or pally / shadowknight.
