Any plans to expand the game?

The Trials of Obi-Wan was released in the second half of 2005.  Thats about 20 months ago.  Is SOE done putting out expansions for this game?   Please don't take this as a license to flame.  I'm honestly curious.

They're basically doing free expansions for at least the remainder of the year.  Chapter 6 expanded the game in a simillar way that JTL did by introducing a whole new system into the game, craftables and a profession.

From the floor of the star wars celebration and The Vertigo:

There will be no expansion this year. In fact there were no booths for SWG at the Star Wars 30th celebration. There were no banners. The content we are getting this year so far is just previous content redone and revamped.  Posts have been made that space will get some new content. Most likely just another revamp of an existing system with a beast master twist. There will be a droid commander possible for the 7th or 8th publish. Gardner was not that well recieved at the celebration.  One dev stated that Hoth is not likely to happen.

Guys...SWG is on a skeleton crew and they have done a ton with it. I hope its going to bounce back because BM is darn good.  Oh and Mr Blix stated at the celebration that their budget is geared towards getting the old players back. So thats a good thing for new  and interesting content or slash revamp. I hope they do a Night Sister theme park.  The expansion is slated for next year.

Thanks for the input.  I played SWG from launch all the way thru NGE.  Then I dropped it.  Every few months tho, I get an urge to reopen my account but am disheartened to see that there is really no new content being added.  The Chapter publishes are nice, but we had that back then as well, although it looks like the recent publishes are focused on bringing back some of what was lost and that (in my opinion) is a good thing.  As for Hoth, that would be great... but rumors of Hoth being released were floating around before JTL came out so I'm not holding my breath.  It's good  to hear that they are focusing on bringing back the old player base.  Not sure how they plan on accomplishing such a thing, but its good to hear anyway.  Again, thank you for the updated information.

In my opinion the game is already gigantic.

In terms of land mass Its maybe the biggest game around, what it still needs (although is light years better than before) is content.

Whe have this big cities, lots of them, but we have few content, not that many quests or things to do for a game this size.

The Legacy quests do a great job of intruducing characters and places in SWG in a way that fells natural, they should do more stuff like that so people can be entertained while playing, and not just mindless grinding as it was before.

Space is cool but we could use more content there as well. Capital ships for Guilds, Space stations (like the one in the intro) scatered around the galaxy where you could control and have PVP battles in them, more quests, different from the steal that fighter, escort that convoy or search and destroy that enemy.

SWG is moving in the right direction, we are starting to have variety in the way things can be made, but it can still improve a lot in terms of content and variation.

True, SWG has always had publishes/chapters.  However, back in the days these were mostly fixes, balance tweaks, nerfs, Bh & Jedi.  These days, they're more about adding content, systems and items that would normally be held back for an expansion.

Infact, the last few Chapters have been the biggest single updates SWG has really ever had.

Indeed. Story Teller being one of the biggest new features - and a decent one players can use.

Did the promised Capital Ships ever make it into the game or were these just another hollow promise?

They were always only a Technical Preview from Fan Fest 05.

Capitol ships are not going to happen, at least any time in the near future. Someone asked if capitol ships were going to make their way into Chapter 8 (the "space" chapter) at the celebration and the devs said no.

Also agree with previous posters, we have this huge world and now it's time to fill it up with content. Legacy is great, for a first time player, then it drops you at 50 and your left to yourself to grind until 70. Legacy should be expanded, multiple quest branches and added content to 70ish. They need to add more NPC's with quests and expand on the ones they have possibly. They need to continue expanding the high level content BUT they need to look at the entire level process.
