MMO or not, just want to play something FUN.

I was playing CoV up to yesterday, but then I went nut and screaming about "stealth nerfs", and I was indeed convinced I have been stealth nerfed by the devs X 14 toons.  Now, with distance, maybe it wasn't the case, but that is irrelevant, when you come to the point you are convince they stealth nerfs the toons, it is time to move on.  Regardless of the stealth nerf been real or imaginary (althought I honestly feel nerfed and weaker).

If multiplayers:

- GROUPS(PvE) must supercede everything else.  If grouping come clashing with anything else, it must have the upper hand, unqestionnably.  I don't mind if other gameplays are equals, but they can't be getting any edge which make them better in groups then groupers.  Raiding, PvP, tradeskills, solo, whatever else, they must never hinder grouping in any form.  These other gameplays may or not be present in the game, they may or not be shafted by grouping or been equals, as long as they are not shafting grouping, in anyway, in anyform, at any moment.

- No nerf policy.  The devs make rules.  They have to abide by those, once and for all.  If they want to "balance" the game, tell me when they are done and the balancing is final.  I don't like to manage regressions, I play to advance my toon(s), to progress them.  Not to always deal with rules changes, balancing or whatever.  Do your job before you get the players in, after that, assume...any balancing is done upward, never downward.

- Old content is never obsolete.  A maxed character that enter a lowbie area always find it kinda challenging, never grossly outmatching everything.  (could be a level cap per zone, but can be something else)

- TONS of progression, if not endless.

- Solo has to be nice, if shafted at all; only by grouping, nothing else shaft soloers.  Better if not shafted, but can live with grouping abuse. (second most important gameplay, just after grouping)

- Raiding, PvP, Tradeskills, Card games, whatever else the devs think of, are all OPTIONAL.  A player can refuse to engage in these other gameplays without feeling shafted in anyway about grouping or soloing.  The OPTIMAL path to group uberness has to be by grouping.

- Not reflexs oriented...

- A highbee must do more then a level 1.  Aka, kill more stuff of his level, not less.  The more you "level up", the greater the toon becomes. (doesn't have to be levels)

If offline:

- Must be FUN.

Here is a list of the games I enjoy and a rating beside them:

Baldur's Gate1&2: 100%/ SSI games 100%/ Civilisations II-III-IV: 95%/ HoMM II to V: 90%/ CoV: 88%/  EQ-LDoN: 85%/ FFX: 80%/ Xenosaga: 82%/ Romance of the 3 Kingdoms II: 85%/ The Bard's Tale: 80%

Here is a list of MMOs I think are nice but where not appealing to me:

Saga of Ryzom, Auto Assault, DAoC, Horizons, SWG-NGE and pre-CU,

And here is a list of MMO that deserve dirty talking, trash talking and worser:

WoW, GW, DDO, EQ-GoD, EQ2, DnL, Vanguard, FFXI

Here is a list of MMOs I am waiting to try:

BioWare, HJ, Stargate, TR, Aion...and maybe WAR, kinda unsure about WAR.

I know, most likely I have played too many games already and suggesting something is quite hard.  But maybe I miss something, indie dev or not.  Not sure I could plunge in a MUD, but maybe...yeah...if it was good...maybe...

    Have you tried NWN 1 + 2?

If you want a bit of fun, pick up Fallout and Fallout 2, they are still great boredom killers.

Yup, NWN 1 & 2 and Fallout 1 & 2 where good games.  I was not in total love and admiration with them, but have a very good time with them.  KotOR 1 & 2 where great, I enjoy seeing the stuff LA censored in the 2nd (silly LA, ruining games).

CS and Starcraft are not really my thing, they are good...but not for me.

    Nerfs!

    No change there then.

I played Dark Messiah of might and magic the other week. It's not right up your usual street but it's not too far off it either.

It's a first person fantasy romp in single player. With a steam based deathmatch style multiplayer which I haven't launched. (Nor will I).

So we have a 1st person singleplayer RPG based in the might and magic universe built on the Half life 2 engine.

It's very well scripted and engrossing, it has multiple endings but is essentially linear, and a good fast pace. The skill tree is fun. Although linear, it's well written linear. You won't get lost and spend frustrating hours looking for some stupid hidden door you missed 2 hours ago. There are plenty of new enviroments to see or gameplay challenges to break up play. Bosses, mini bosses, puzzle bosses, secret area's to find. Combat is fun and fast paced, kicking people of the edge of cliffs, smashing barrels over their heads, weapon styles to chose and learn, each with their own nifty set of moves to master. Combat is the same pace as COH. It's a thrill ride.

The game has very high production values with no bugs and lots of great voice acting and CGI animations. Jealous catty woman squabbling over you. The plot is predictable right from the start. You can see it all coming and it feels right. Like Destiny.

Gameplay is very reminiscent of Thief, in particular for the rope arrows and sneaking about, but the pace is much faster due to the combat.

Really enjoyed it. Glued to my chair for about 20 hours, (ballsed up and restarted once otherwise it owuld have been done in 15). Expansion out for christmas.
