This is what really puts it apart from other games as this is very economy based. We have complete control of whats going on in the world and all items are made by us. Cool idea but could go very very wrong.
The aspect about the economy i like the most is how it connects with clans and city control as you can actually crash the economy by something like hyperinflation occuring or over production. Could this mean we could see the rise of dictorships in certain cities? lol there is just so many possibilties

Player based economies are terrific features to those that like to craft. I, personally, find crafting just a tad bit more exciting than a hot stick in the eye. I avoided it like the plague in EQ, and in Horizons I resort to crafting when my death points start to stack up.
All in all, I'd have to say that creating player based communities can either make or break a game. In the beginning of Horizons, the server population was damn near topped out on the Twlight server. People were running everywhere making all kinds of things. The Consignment Shops were full to the brim with new and exciting items. Now, since the bottom has fallen out on the player base, the Consignment Shops are full of the same-old crap. There are just a few high end crafters, and most people get frustrated with the redundancy and repitition of crafting. It's almost a two-edged sword. I hope they can capture enough people in the beginning to make it interesting, and keep those people from turning to other games to find content.

In my wanderings I havent noticed if there will be NPC crafters or not (NPC stores). After experiencing SW:G Release and Horizons Release (both of which have only player made items if i'm not mistaken), The first month of the game is swamped with nothing but noob items, and the only way a dedicated player can keep him/herself outfitted is by also being a crafter. Not really a point for discussion I guess, Just wondering if anyone has the info.

There might be NPC Crafters that sell lowlevel items, but I certainly wouldn't expect more than that. Dedicated Players who don't wish to craft themselves should look ingame for the Dedicated Crafters, like myself, who'll usually have the latest stuff

It's really just the first month or so that I'm wondering about, a month in you can be sure that there will be a variety of crafters, and enough of them will have caught up with the hardcore players to provide the needed wares. If nothing else, the LACK of the equipment will slow their climb until the crafters catch up. In Horizons for instance, atleast on the Spirit, the first month there were only a handfull of crafters that could supply decent equipment, and for the most part, they were not primarily crafters. Again, not really a big deal, everything works itself out in the long run. I personally am going to try like mad to restrain myself from picking up any of the 6(?) titles that release a the begining of October and wait to see if they meet expectations. DE will certainly be the hardest tho.

The Oktober release date from mmorpg.com is very unlikely to be reached as the release date has changed a while ago. Codemasters never stated the Release Date that's put on the site here
Why can't crafters be hardcore players aswell? I managed to keep up with the powerlevelling in the Earth and Beyond beta as a crafter. Somehow I always managed to have the newest level X items available at the moment the people got to the levels to use them. As I know a few other folks who're going to be a dedicated hardcore crafter in DE, it shouldn't really pose a problem, you'll just have to find them A good marketing strategy is in order then.

Now that's something I didn't want to know... (No october DE). I've always prefered the game that waits till it's ready over the rushed release, but I had been looking forward to it.

I was kinda wondering how easy it would be to get the start-up cash for crafting. It really sucked in DAoC.
I can't imagine that it would require too much coin, or else you would have to be fighter before you can be a crafter, something most new games are trying to eliminate (to cater to the hardcore crafters we were speaking of earlier I would guess).
