Every class has its own benefits and downfalls. As for paladins being the worst class in the game, that makes me lol.
Any class can beat any class if played right. It all boils down to the player, even though some classes may have advantages over others.
It really depends on if you want to group alot or solo and grind/quest. Some classes are better for both.
I.E. Paladins are HORRIBLE for grinding. SLOW SLOW xp gainers (I have a 65 pally horrible to level but I have yet to be beaten by any class cept for lock ^^ in 1 v 1)
Rouges/hunters are great for solo grinding and/or farming. Fast kills, don't really need to regen much in order to keep killing.
Then it falls in with priests, mages, druids, warrs, all that fun stuff
One class that can rival the Lock in pvp greatly is a priest also. I played a priest to 48 and I beat locks all the time( I had my fair share of losses also)
IMO, Pick what you think you would like best, because every class is useful and can pvp if played right.
What do you think the best class is? and why? which class is the worst?
I really like rogue, due to the fact that it is easy to play, and deals a lot of quick damage. I think paladin is the worst class, because I think all they are good for is just bubbling and surviving, not really dealing the damage.
Hunter and Warlock. Any other class will just require skill to play and will not be as strong as Hunter and Warlock. Priest is good too.
Best for levelling with quests/grinding- hunter or warlock. Most gold miners choose hunters, enough said
Best for grinding - rogue, very fast kills
Best for PVP - warlocks are good though not as ueber as some suggest in this chain, shaman and pallies are survival masters and rogues and shadow priests are nasty, mages when well handled are fun too - but breakable
Best for getting into dungeons - priest - always wanted, or tank
Best healer - priest, balance druids a close second, holy pallies and resto shamans a far third. (note pre patch 2.1.0 there was some debate at high levels, but priest is now back on top)
Best damage dealer - mage, but glass cannon caveat applies
Best for flexibility - druid or shaman (but pack multiple sets of clothes)
Best for mass farming mobs - mages, locks and in the end game (amazingly) holy priests (with dots and nova).
Best tank - def specced warrior, feral druid is a close second, prot pally a close third
Best healer - priest, balance druids a close second, holy pallies and resto shamans a far third. (note pre patch 2.1.0 there was some debate at high levels, but priest is now back on top)
Think you meant resto druids rather than balance. Balance druids tend to be better healers than ferals, due to having decent mana pools, but their talents are heavily focused on ranged dps rather than healing.
I'm also surprised holy pallies have slipped quite so far down, although I haven't really studied the patch notes. Were pallies nerfed or did priests get a buff?
Don't waste your times with a paladin if you're going 1v1. I have a friend who played the game months more than me and I beat his lvl 47 pally with my 42 holy priest. I just fear him, drain his mana and voila, most useless class in game (without mana), whilst I can still heal myself far more than he ever could inflict damage.
the best class is the one you play the best, why "best" class cant be real in a game where there is like 9 classes, it comes down to the one you play the best.
I think the best class is warlocks. Warlocks have curses that allow them to take away health over time. Several of these curses used at once will kill anything in its path. Warlocks also have minions to help them in battle. The minions give a great advance to warlocks as well. They provide great defence and strength for a warlock. I think the worst class is warriors. Warriors have a great disadvance while fighting emenies. Warrior have to get really close to there enemies to attack. The problem is.. emenies sometimes "stop" warrior in there tracks. Many classes have skills that allow them to stop emenies for a couple of seconds. Even if warriors learn the bowman skill, they still don't hit very high.
dude hunters pwn warlocks...when they try and fear your pet you use beastial wrath and intimidation and there owned
Sometimes. But locks can always pull out death coil, which is about the only magical effect available to any class that cuts through BW / TBW. Ever been fear locked to death and been completely unable to respond - unable to even activate bestial wrath? Or seduced by a succubus whilst the warlock chews through your pet?
Playing a hunter at 60 I definitely view a well played warlock as a challenge. Then again that's the beauty of hunter. Any class played well and with the right spec/gear presents a challenge (apart from paladins - they are meat). But almost all characters are easily beaten if they don't know what they are doing (i.e. 90% of players).
P.S. I find as a hunter that one of the nastiest opponents is a moonkin druid. High DPS + high armour means they cause a lot of problems. Fortunately there aren't many moonkins around.
rogue use to be before expac, now prolly a lock b/c their fucking pussies and all they do is put of up their 5 dots spam fear and use life drain, it pisses me off they need to L2P the fucking game.
I Say Druids are the best class because with druids you can act like a rogue in cat form and they can act like a warrior in bear form / moonkin form and they are a good healer in tree of life form + they can be people back from death with rebirth and they're a good spell caster and they have good crowd control and they're easy to play.
NIGHT ELF DRUIDS ROCK TAUREN DRUIDS AND ALL OTHER CLASSES SUCK!!!
Just don't play one of those appalling druids who spend all their lives in cat form. They don't even realise they are playing a hybrid class and that:
(a) bear form is much better for some situations including some pvp battles
(b) cat by itself is a second rate rogue, and is therefore pointless
(c) they help their team far more by being prepared to heal when necessary. Seeing a level 21 druid yelling "LF1M healer" is actually funny to experienced players and is an instant "noob group alert".
(d) playing a good druid requires multiple sets of gear (typically dps/tanking/healing gear), with less overlap between gear the higher level you are)
Personally I'm not a big fan of playing a druid. Your shape heavily determines which abilities you have available, which means at any one time you have far fewer skills immediately available than many other classes. Makes the class less interesting to me, but I know other people who have lots of fun playing druids.

then he sucks as a paladin....
what was he holy (although i've seen Angelus on Nagrand [EU] do massive amounts of damage too]... if he was protection/retribution he should have kicked your butt.
Hmm what would i do if i was a retri pala in this situation...
you fear, i shield... run to you, stun SoC combo [hope you know how many big numbers a paladin can get from that], crusader strike... stun you again (got to love repentance).. your a clothy, you're dead before you hit the ground.
Retribution table is broken, but you can still do some lovely damage. and watching spells bounce off as you walk toward them(combined with PoJ, handy for that 8% movement increase)
although my best is Protection based, especially with the new avenger shield not needing a min range... lovely stun/damage, along with argent defender, the 100% attack even while shielded, and the increase in stamina makes for an ideal.. whack whack anything in cloth = dead.
he sucked as a paladin, a good paladin will beat any class. a good paladin v a good person, just means a decent PvP battle (which are lacking in WoW)

he does like 100 something dps.
and hunters get all the armor skills for their pets.
PvP in WoW is horribly unbalanced. Warlocks and Hunters always dominate the field, period. If you don't think so, then you haven't been looking at the scoreboards at the end of the game.
But why?
The answer is simple - high ranged damage + fear, slow / interrupt or stun = GG.
There are currently NO class advantages over Warlocks or Hunters. The only way to fix the balance issues is with adjustments to gear and enchantments. Ultimately, I've found that the classes in WoW are just broken. So I've quit and eagerly await the arrival of a good PvP based MMORPG.
I'll probably die of old age before one comes out...

I always look at the scoreboard at the end of a game. And I've seen every single class top the scoreboard - even done it myself with a paladin (top damage and top healing - the rest of my team must have sucked ). Next time you see a hunter near the top of the scoreboard for number of kills, try sorting by number of deaths - most times your hunter will be pretty high up in that tally as well.
It's true hunters and locks often score pretty high, but I don't find it unusual to see a mage or rogue getting top kills. And the classes that don't get top kills have opportunities to contribute in other ways - e.g. healing, flag carrying and protecting other team members.
Here's a clue - battlegrounds aren't about getting the most kills or dominating the scoreboard. They are about winning. For example, druids often come mid table in number of kills, but they are the best flag carriers in the game, and I would rather have a good druid flag carrier on my WSG team than any hunter or warlock.
I always look at the scoreboard at the end of a game. And I've seen every single class top the scoreboard - even done it myself
Of course it's possible for any class to win, if the people they're playing against suck.
But like I said, you aren't paying attention to the board. Warlocks and Hunters are consistently at the top and moreover,
their scores are much higher than the other classes.
And don't get me started about 'winning' in battlegrounds. It's a totally random mashup who's ultimate goal is utterly pointless.
Arena play is something else entirely. If you don't think hunters and locks rule, try going up against a good arena group.
You die SO fast it's unbelievable.
Battlegrounds are only a "random mashup" if you haven't got a clue how to play them.
And have you ever played in the arena, or are you just talking bullshit?
I admit - I haven't done the arena thing yet. But I read a lot of the official forums, and I know which teams are feared in the arena and which aren't. Priest + lock gets respect. Pala + warrior does well. So do a few other combos. But it is very rare to see a hunter in a top 2v2 arena team (since line of sight issues in arenas hurt hunters more than any other class).
