My crack at it was:
Long ago, our civilization grew upon a single planet that was a far journey in the stars. When our civilization was young, we looked to the stars and wondered if we were alone in the universe. After many years, our civilization discovered the secret of spaceflight. Spaceflight connected all the stars of the universe. With spaceflight we journeyed into the cosmos. We planned how to discover others who might have traveled to the cosmos before us. But, there were no others before us. We alone discovered the secret of spaceflight. Now we travel the universe to share the secret of spaceflight. But we reached a single enemy that now attacks the universe; takes our knowledge -- takes the secret of spaceflight. Together we will defend the future.

I went with wormholes rather than spaceflight after reading the backstory.
Long before our civilisation grew up on this planet, things were far distant in the cosmos.
When our civilisation was young, we looked out at the cosmos and wondered if we were alone in it.
After long years our civilisation discovered the secret of wormhole portals.
Wormhole portals link all the stars of the cosmos.
With these wormholes, we travelled the cosmos.
We thought we might find others who might have travelled the cosmos before us.
On the contrary, there were no others before us.
We alone had discovered the secret of wormholes.
And so we travelled the cosmos in search of others to give them the secret of wormholes.
Instead we created a devil, something that now destroys the cosmos.
Hear our tale.
Hear the secret of wormholes.
Together we will defend the future.
The battle for the control of the cosmos begins now.

And so we travelled the cosmos in search of other to give the secret of the logos.
But we meet an evil race that now attacks the universe;
