WoW vs EverQuest II ?

Well, this really is a serious question.

Which one is better?

Right now my friend is convinced I will play WoW, he says I have no choice. =P

So I really am leaning towards that one, but I've been a huge EQ fan, having everything for the first game.

I really like the graphics too, they're very nice. I guess I just think WoW has a more..ugly look.

I've noticed EQ has the higher rating, but yet all I ever seem to hear about is WoW.

So, honestly, which one do you guys feel is the better MMO?

There are a few reasons as to each. EQ2 is rather different in play style from the original EQ. Its not quite as hard as the original but still quite difficult and more fun than WoW.

However the reason that WOW is so popular is ease of play. it is far from being a difficult game when it comes down to anything, including raids. You can solo essentially to max level and the system requirements are very very low because its just not a very graphically intensive game.

Personally I chose EQ2 over WoW because its just so much more fun overall.

For me WoW is better in all aspects but......

Thanks, I appreciate the reply ^^

Actually that's how I felt. EverQuest was my first mmorpg and I was addicted for years, I never got tired of the thing. My family had attacked me yelling "delete it from her computer!" So as a noob I got through EQ 1 without problems. I think I would enhoy the 2nd one.

I've noticed WoW is more so RAM heavy than anything graphic-wise. My friend uses a Geforce 5500 I think, to play WoW, he says he has no lag.

I have a GeForce 7600. So I'm assuming EQ would run fine on my computer.

I've read places that WoW was really intended to be a MMO for everyone, hence the poor graphics for older PCs, and the easier gameplay.

WoW is bloody great, polished and just all round fantastic.
If you're casual (Else you'll be done with new raids after 2 weeks apparently)

I for one ain't casual but don't want to go hardcore (As WoW funny enough forces you to)
so I go with EQ2, it's just much more solo and sandbox stuff (Decorating!)

Played so far: 9Dragons, AO, AC, AC2, CoX, DAoC, DF, DnL, DR, DDO, Ent, EvE, EQ, EQ2, FoMK, FFO, Fury, GW, HG:L, HZ, L1, L2, M59, MU, NC1, NC2, PS, PT, R:O, RF:O, RYL, Ryzom, SL, SB, SW:G, TR, TCoS, MX:O, UO, VG, WAR, WoW...
    It all sucked.

Wow is the better game by a significant margin. I judge that by content.

Of course, this is just *my* opinion..........

Wow, hmm easy to play, doesnt change much and is basically the same all the way through.

EQ2, last time i had played this alot of the better quests had been removed (boat rides) opening these ment something when completed, now you dont need to do them. Somethign that made teh game worth while. Alot of other changes too. Some poor, some good, but it can now be played with a solo character (as at one time you had to be grouped to even tie a shoelace).

I have seen it from release (left after 3 months, not solo playable) went back on the liveupdate 18, was goign to subscribe again but then liveupdate 19 hit and made it go back into the dark era, 1 year later i went back and found significant improvements, but then left 2 weeks before Vanguard was released (no need to put anything here on that piece of crap). Can see it going the way AC2 has gone myself.

So far i havent been back to EQ2 since because yet again i find myself doubting anything to do with the SoE nametag to its name, that also includes an upcomming mmorpg called gods and heroes, but with the SoE tag on it, i find myself very dubious to it (much like many many others who have made posts on various places, and i am inclined to agree with their worries).

well both are life suckers.  depends on if you like cartoony graphics or not.

I think that's the only reason I had avoided WoW. The graphics are ugly.

I've been through EQ2 a lot and I love how realistic it is. The only reason WoW would interest me is because their Druids are unique...

The trials are a good idea, just have to wait for the new PC to come in so I can actually try them., since my current PC can't run crap.  I would hope EQ2 doesn't require a super computer.

I do appreciate the opinions, they're so close though. It's nearly 50/50, but as usual EQ2 is winning.

I would say WoW only because im an ex/may go back to it gamer.  One reason eq may have gotten a higher rating is the overall quality of the game.  You are right, WoW is a more ugly look than EQ but is overall fun and probably one of the most popular games on the market right with a HUGE community.

i have seen this discussion lots of times and wow fans deffend wow as hell, and eq2 fans do the same B). so, the discussion is useless.

i have tried both and i preffer eq2 by far. WoW is so simple you get bored of it really soon (if u like real rpg).

WoW community is prette immature, and quests sucks, the only fun thing you can do is pvp, and its pretty unbalanced imo

EQ2 quests rocks, the contents are really deep, and its really difficult to get bored of it. in fact i played wow for 6 months, and i have been playing eq2 for almost 3 years.

but as i said, this is just my oppinion. i bet there are tons of people wich think exactly the other way around. (i doubt they tried eq2 tho)

    Both are Great games

WoW can be overly simple but you can solo with easy all the way to 70th and there is PvP

EQ2 more complicated but graphically superior, you will need a group for later levels and for later quests like the flying carpet quest, and guilds are a must for later raiding.

Can't say anything bad against both games they both will keep you busy for a year or more.

P.S Try a Shadow Priest in WoW and an Assassin that is Str based in EQ2.

Yeah, I saw it a couple times, sorry to be repetitive.

I just wanted more intelligent answers, because you're right, WoW posters have had very immature posts. Ever go through youtube? I hate reading those WoW fans comments. Someone had described their community as "10 year olds".  Which I'm sure is true, as WoW may have a bigger community but I guess it's just meant for more people.

Anyway, EverQuest has always been more complicated. I don't like the whole treadmill thing. You have to have something to do in between. So far it seems WoW people don't like EQ because it's too complicated, but doesn't that give it a more realistic feel?

Ive actually played them both, and like them both for what they are. they are totally different. I played wow for like 2 months and found it to be really dam easy. even though i'd still play it again it was kinda monotnous because it was so progressing and easy if you've played any MMORPG before, you can master this. and EQ2 was pretty fun but there was something about it, im not really sure, but i just didnt like it after the first month. maybe it was all the questing, i dont mind questing but all that game was, was questing. so they both have their downfalls. i think if i was to choose between EQ2 or WoW, id play EQ1 again lol.

starting from... Ultima Online, Odyssey Online Classic, Diablo, Faldon, EQ, Darkage of Camelot, Diablo II, EQ2, World of Warcraft, FFF, whats next for Moog? (trying EQ2 again...!)
