the armada

I call it "the armada" because nothing else describes it, a group of 15, sometimes 20 NPC ships, flagships, sethdar, and starcruisers, all travelling to gether.

I ran into them on the way to Leopardis on MilkyWay. There were two Armadae, one good, one evil, and me and someone else took down the evil one.

It was unreal, one lonely npc, I figured I could take it, but as soon as I engaged it, jump jump jump jump jump jump jump jump jump jump, and I was dead.

How many people have run into armadae like this one?

I ran into one, think on my scans it read 3400 and they were all the same kind but for some reason only 10 of them came after me while a couple stayed near the warp even when I shot at them. I got wasted when a tractor beam pulled me into the fray and before you could say "what?" I was dead.

Fun stuff though, if you can arrange a group of vultures or whatever and hunt down an entire group that would be crazy exp and credits.

I took on the armada in an escape pod, and shot down about 10 of them before I had to upgrade to a vulture.

I would have thought that the armadas were the best way to gain experience. I generally go around looking for these fleets of NPCs.

The most memorable time was when i incurred the wrath of two seperate evil groups of NPCs.Basically, i was fighting one 11 member group when another 6 member warped into the system, and i fired at them too. I got killed image.

No, i reckon that because of the lack in real players, the armada should be there... even, perhaps, more. Perhaps less in one whole group, but more spread out and roaming the galaxy.

I personally don't like armadas very much. They scare the living daylights out of newbs. They aren't all that dangerous unless you provoke them (you can usually get by them without a scratch if you just fly through the system and ignore them). My problem with them is that they waste all the NPCs! Have you ever been hunting for NPCs and wondered where they all are?
I was quite confused the first time I saw NPCs all flocking to a particular system. it's like a they were all summoned to a meeting or something. It would be a lot better if instead of twenty ships traveling together there were groups of say two or three. That would still be enough to pose a threat to many players.

Also, as a side comment about NPCs - why is it that the good NPCs don't fight the bad NPCs? I've only seen that a few times. I often come across a yellow and red dot happily sharing a system with one another. It just doesn't make any sense.

Ive seen good and bad fighting each other plenty of times.

But yea, armadas suck.  I can fly around for an hour and never see an NPC and then all of a sudden run into 10-12 of them all together in 3-4 systems in a row.  Traveling in pairs or groups of 3 is fine, but I think there should be more NPCs per server anyhow.  So hard to find a fight most the time when you want one.

I've seen good and bad sharing the same space too. I wanted the two sides to start fighting. I put my ship close to a good guy (i was also good), and when the bad NPC attacked, his stray shoots hit the good guy. That seemed to be the key. The good NPC started attaching the bad NPC.

Taking a fair to another system, i was followed by more then a dozen NPC's, all intent on killing me. Non did, i was too fast for them (even though i was still in the basic ship). The NPC's do need a bit more AI tweaking, but it is still a good game.

Bring on the Armarda's any time, more the better. It will just convince us players to begin our own Armarda's to hunt theirs...
