I don't listen to music constantly the way some people do.
Ok, this may sound a little strange but I realized something when I was in college. Listening to music too much was screwing up my perspective. It stirred up my emotions when I was better off not having my emotions stirred up. It either made me feel angry or sad or just generally feel like my boring life sucked.
I still remember the day when I was struck by this realization. It's probably the closest thing to an epiphany I've ever had. After that I cut back on listening to music, and you know what? I stopped drinking so much. I stopped doing so many stupid / risky things. I stopped feeling pissed off or depressed all the time.
It probably sounds crazy but it's true. I don't know if it would be true for anyone else but it was for me. I still listen to music some, just not all the damn time every day.
