maybe story is great.  Oh and check out goonzu online.  Not really 2d but its kinda like it.  Graphics arent all that great so if u need 2d because ur pc isnt all that great, youd be fine with goonzu and maple

    ROK!!!

2D MMO? Well, isn't really a big selection with much "variety", if you haven't tried "Ragnarok Online" yet, do so. It is '2D Isometric', but in a 3D world, it isn't free though: 14-day trial, $12/mo after that.

I'm not sure quite what you're trying to achieve here, anymore information on what you might be into or looking for in a 2D game?

    Ultima Online is isometric.

MMORPG.COM has worst forum editor ever exists

yeah Ultima would be a good choice.  Dead community though isnt there?

I was also going to mention...and forgive me...but "Tibia" is 2D Iso as well, if you really want to go that far back. :)

Surprisingly, there are still over 30k people across the servers, I no longer play of course, but hey if you really want a 2D mmo, there you go.

Amazing.  Reaaaaally amazes me how people can be so dedicated to a game like that.  I dont think i have kept interest in a game straight on for a year yet.  Id really love to though i really would.  But its weird how games like tibia and runescape still hold the attention of modern day people.  With so many decent free games out there why dont people give those pieces of garbage up.  Runescape graphics are horrible, yet, people still are soo addicted to that game.

Well, sometimes the reason for staying dedicated to a MMO like Tibia for example, is for the community, or the fact that their friends and family have been playing for years, and don't want to leave for anything else. And maybe those players still enjoy a good 2D MMO every once in a while, maybe they can't really find another MMO out there like it to apply to their standards. I actually respect players as such, being dedicated to something like that for so long is amazing yes.

Amazes me too.  I wish i could hold on to a game like that and be obsessed with it.  Like 2 minutes ago i saw a guy with an xfire tag that said 2000 hours on guildwars, i wish i could do that, yet still be in shape, and have a social life.  (NO OFFENSE TO THAT PERSON)

I know I sound like a broken record but starport is really excellent 2D MMO. just built 3yrs ago so its recent. Has hardcore pvp if you roll on the pvp server but the community is really good I fly by other ships all the time only got attacked by a PK'er like once durig this bang and that was really intense and cool.

also has an all PvE server option to maybe

trying to get my friends to get on this thing wit me. its so quick to hop into it and its great you can do all the content within a 'bang'.

free to play too. you got nothing to lose but a little time.
