I am planning to download this game on the weekend and start playing! but ive been watching some videos and combat seems abit slow for the melee classes?
i am gonna be making a nanotechician so whats combat like for them, can anyone help me out here?
I'll offer my two cents, although I haven't played an NT during my time in AO. They're simular to WoW Mages. They have powerful single target nukes, as well as the best AoE attacks in the game. They are extremely fragile, and can easily pull aggro so you need to be careful. In group PvP, they can be a nightmare. They have extremely useful buffs that every player loves to get. They are extremely good at crafting.

Where are you getting your information????????
I have a 157 NT. Nano programming is the only skill trait that they really have from day one. NP is used for making Implants in the game and one of the skilled needed to make nano crystals.
NT's have ruined the game... They have produced hecknoobs who don't know who to play the toons they have created. Used to be when you saw someone up in the 100's you could assume they have actually played the game. Not so. People team with an NT and play large amounts of credits to just level. The NT will kite large mobs and the rest of the team doesn't have to do anything but go afk and surf porn or whatever else they do.
There is nothing worse than teaming with someone who hasn't ever played the game and is playing a Doc profession or some other support roll.
As for NT's in pvp, they can be very deadly in the Battle Station, especially if they know what they are doing. When it comes to mishes, unless you are happy to just blitz everything and not get any mission tokens, they suck.
What buffs are you talking about? They have an Intelligence buff, a nano point regeneration buff, and a buff that allows someone to cast nano "spells" for less cost. Far from being begged for buffs every 2 secs like Docs, MP's, or Traders.
NT's are the easiest to level in the game, but also the hardest to do much exploration or missions with.
Whoa relax dude. The guy was asking for a general class description. I played a soldier to level 220. I also said I am only offerint 2 cents since I never actually played an NT. But just because people dont bug NT's for buffs as much as docs get begged for IC or MP get begged, it doesn't nullify my statement that "NT's have very useful buffs that everyone likes to get". When have you ever raided and not gotten your local NT buff?

Obviously this guy havent got a clue about playing an NT. NT's are fun to play because you have to carefully select your actions to stay alive. Its a challenge that is far beyond what you will find with your Doc, Enforcer, Soldier. With an NT you actually have several choices of game play.
A bad NT however, could easily destroy the fun for the group.

seems to me that NTs are nukers, some nukers can be useful at times
