I honestly can't believe that this game still exists....
It has very poor graphics, very poor gameplay (it's world of warcraft grinding with your credit card) and the community sucks.
This game used to be called Project Entropia, and I can only assume that it changed its name because of all the bad publicity it's casino type play generated. Play for free, but don't get suckered into depositing. The people here claiming it is a great game are either employees of MA (MindArk, which filed for bankruptcy once allready, and was also sued by Microsoft for stealing software)., or they are the elite crowd of this game who benefit from you using your credit card.
Also keep in mind that if you reside in the US, there are questions as to the legality of you playing this game (new gambling laws). Ask MA for clarification on that one and their response will be to consult your own attorney..... All in all, to risky to really be considered a "game".
I find myself agreeing with most of the negative comments and few of the positive ones. Without investing cash there didnt seem to be much game there and I found playing as a 'noob' that it was the least friendly mmo i'd tried the only people who were willing to speak with me were other noobs. I dont claim to be a vetran of this one, i only played it for about a month but that was longer than it deserved.
ecator, I understand if you are more qualified than most of the playerbase to loose money quickly. Unfortunately that doesn't automatically mean you are an "uber". No doubt you are not getting into details because there are none...... I wanted to counter thread starter for being overtly biased. I know for FACT that you can play in EU without loosing, or loosing very little. I backed this giving some useful information of methods that work. I see no good facts given from the opposite camp, except the excpected, you loose if you cannot play, or don't bother to learn. Obviously you cannot. Go back playing tetris online, or whatever it is you are good at.
First, to the very constructive post above mine, read my sig
Now on to topic
Its fun to see how this thread has developed. Ppl get all excited about being right lol. Well all are right, in their own way cause the only thing I see here is a bunch of ppl expressing their personal feelings towards something and then they argue that the other one have right or wrong. Silly
Personally I just love PE, EU or whatever u wanna call it. Dont care much about others opinions either more than they have the right to express them and provide enough information for me to determine if they are idiots or some what intelligent beings.
If u wanna try out the game send me a pm here and I will try to guide u a bit. No point reading all the other crap since it consist of so little information.
Any idiot can critizise but few idiots can critizise well or with style
i have to agree with the OP but disagree with how he said it. With the new changes to the game they have made being an OJ even more hard, it seems like there now "slum lording it" which is to say, they clean it up so it looks good, so someone comes in, gives them some money, then realizes there mistake and leaves, without getting money back. PLease don't say i'm just mean or trolling or whatever, i LOVED this game for a couple years, but now with recent changes things are getting VERY hard, alot of items are becoming (L) Loot is just plain TERRIBLE so terrible one of the MAJOR players in the Game Akoz, who owned several land areas and held tournements on them, SOLD HIS LAND, and i havent seen him on, i think he slod out, though i cant say for sure, but none the less this means loot is SO BAD that someone who has played the game since gold has decided to cut losses, on his land, knowing no one will hunt there anymore. This kills alot of the game, because traders cant sell weapons and armor now, cause miners don't realy NEED them, they can avoid mobs.hmmm... let me see if i can find the screen shot of me and a friend killing 2 whole herds of exasaurs and getting maybee 10 ped of loot (used over 500 ped of ammo and decay) and this is a recent shot they were so great... what happened MindArk!
screenshot is up keep in mind those "this creature didn't carry any loot" messages are scrolling both up and down.
n. You cannot spread any rumors about MindArk, the Entropia Universe, and MindArk Staff or Partners, that can be considered potentially damaging, using the Entropia Universe, IRC or any other public forums in any media now known or not currently known, including but not limited to a web space.
Well I think the OP might be somewhat incorrect as I have tried this game, putting $10 into it and getting several weeks of fun before deciding to stop playing (at which point I still had like $5 left unspent).
There are various items in the game though and I'm sure if you really were looking to spend a load of money you could find things to buy. Maybe you could even spend $100 in thirty minutes if you sat in the market making purchases, but your $100 would go into item exchange- To other players- Not to the developers.

OK Klodvig I'll make a post gained through my experience of PE/EU.
At the beginning this game can be fun, even as a none depositer. At the beginning cost to play is low if you are prepared to sweat for a good amount of your time in game.
The problem begins when you move up weapons - which to get skills you will have to, as skill gain from weapons is linked to decay - i.e how much you are spending. Higher the skill slower the gain - or in other words higher the skill , more the decay you will have to generate to gain skill. The recent changes to the skill system cause a great slow down on skill gain as you gain higher ranks - so in turn increasing the amount of decay required to attain them - i.e more cost.
Coupled with this is the new loot distribution, in the past when i played this game a lot, a bad hunt would return you 50% of your outlay. Normally your loot would range from a 20% loss to a 10% gain not including "globals" which was ok and fair. Now a friend who still plays expects a 50% loss in general even as high as 75% loss on some hunts - this IMO is simply to much. His losses over the last couple of VU's have increased greatly, and even as a regular depositer, an experienced ECO hunter - he is losing his ass all the time, his deposits last simply less and less time.
I logged in myself a couple of weeks ago to see what was happening of late in EU - you can read my findings in this section - "return to entropia an ex players account" - where i have given I believe a true vision into what is happening within the world. I have also tried to make the account as unbiased as possible, which after the occurance of my RL friend being locked was a hard thing to do.
Now as for the comments by Entropia Diehards that people who lose lots in this game are idiots must have some kind of dellusion. In order for people to win here others must lose, it is part of the game. To say that everyone can win in this world is a lie - most people do lose. Of course you can trade your way up but to "play" the game you will most probably lose unless you are very lucky.
In conclusion -
If you play this game set yourself a budget and stick to it, when you are out of cash then sweat - it is free skills.
Whatever you do, do not get caught up in the race to become UBER - unless you have many thousands of USD and are willing to lose it.
Avoid crafting unless you are making for yourself, to get anywhere in this profession will cost big bucks - and even then you can lose big
Do not believe Mind Arks hype that you can earn a living through your professions, this is very unlikely unless you were there from the days of beta.
DO NOT GIVE ANY ITEMS WITHOUT SOME SECURITY - Armour cannot be upgraded or coloured, but to be safe do not pass any items here on trust. More than likely you will get scammed out of them if you do.
Lastly - play for fun, if you wish to play for money just trade - it's the only reasonable way to achieve any surefire profit.
Dobbin
Some idiots argue better than others - but better to discuss rather than argue
i just don't get why people are so upset about having to deposit regularly into the EU. people dump a consistant monthly fee in most other online rpgs and will have no expectation whatsoever of ever getting a penny back. but for some reason people think they should be able to play this game, profit madly, and walk away with cash in-hand without ever putting anything in. if you can do that, good for you. but the reality is that this game costs money to play but you have many free options. i'd like you to go play that fantasy RPG with hordes of orcs for free.
i like the fact that when i take a 2 month vacation i will not be incurring charges, as a matter of fact due to inflation i might be worth more i like the fact that when i look at an 'uber' in expensive armor, i understand the value of that commitment. either time or money, but it took a lot. in another game? i shrug, big deal you are level 70. how much are you worth? cash money? nothing? boring. i like the fact that because it is real money, i feel less like i am wasting time.
i think MA's advertising and teasers are geared to bring in the wrong people. i remember feeling a little cheated when i realized i was coming back with 50% to 80% of the ammo cost i went out with. at first i felt i was being ripped off. then i realized it had to be that way. the more effective i hunt/mine/craft the less it burns. using skills plus appropiate tools i have the more effective i become. so began a great cycle. sometimes i am up, sometimes i am down, but i never expect to get something for nothing. i never deposit more than $20 a month unless i am making a special purchase, and then it isn't wasted, but rather invested in my own interests.
inflation bugs the shit out of me, but i have to learn to adjust. i spend wisely to play wisely. i have only been at this around a year now, but havn't got bitter yet. i just dont' understand all the animosity.
