Help me figure out which mmorpg to come back to??or should i give...a try.

Im sure this is asked a billion times a day but i am returning to mmorpgs after a year of break..

I have played just about all other mainstream mmos since everquest Except LOTRO and Vanguard...

I have singled  out a few games i am interest in piking up or back up and they are

Everquest 2

Final Fantasy

Star Wars

Warcraft

But i am highly considering Trying LOTRO AND VANGUARD

I want a game that is very solo friendly and fun..by fun i mean,, not countless hours of grinding for little reward..i want to be able to pick up and play for an hour or two and be able to accomplish something...I know i can do this on Warcraft, but i am really tired of it,since it is the last game i played .

I have not played Everquest since launch and only played for about 2 months then picked up Warcraft(seeing that all my friends went warcraft at that time)  ---I have Heard That EQ2 is a completly different game, if So ..Anyone got some info on it?

I would also Like to know if i can get you guys opinions on LOTRO And Vanguard--

what are they comparable too?are they fun? worth playin?

So im really leaning towards EQ2 at the moment but the LOTRO and Vanguard really strike my attention.

SOmeone just needs to tell me how the games really are right now

Thanks

personally the 3 of them are good they are all similar in there own way Vanguard being the more sophisticated of the 3 imo but unless you have a super pc than i would not even go there. LOTRO on the other hand is very pc friendly and a great game that opens up after a few lvl's it starts of slow but just bare with it and you wont be dissapointed great game, great graphics, great community alot from WOW suprisingly and for EQ2 i have only played it for a while looks good plays good but i have not been far enough in game to give a proper view although how far i have been has been good so far imo i would stick with EQ2 or LOTRO only because from what i have seen Vangaurd is going through some rough times atm with so many ppl undecided as to wether to play it  or not i would recommend it but my pc cant run it good enough for me to tell you how good it is i can play it on low settings but can not appreciate it for what it is worth because i know that i am missing out on a lot from lack of pc performance.

My Recommendations at this point would be LOTRO it is growing in numbers very fast and you should enjoy it if you played WOW.

If game has levels, it's all about griding, allways.

All of You games seems to fine, just pick one, if You don't like, go to next untill You find something what You like.

I'd give FFXI another try, they seem to tone down the difficulty a bit, never played starwars.

Like the other post said, vanguard requires a bit of a super PC. So unless you have one, dont bother. Warcraft is still the same, so if you got bored of it, you will to in a matter of days, imo.

FFXI, i think would be a good choice, as long as you have 1-2 friends to join you!

LOTRO is okay, but it seems to be like WoW later on in the game, but the scenery is nice.

I havent played EQ2 or LOTRO, I have been in Vanguard since beta due to my pc not handleing it the best, but of the 3 I would say Vanguard has the most depth to it. From what I have read LOTRO sounds like it is a good game as well tho, and I have been thinking of picking it up myself. EQ2 I havent thought to much about it since they changed how my Iksar would look. I like the Iksar model from EQ more. I would think any of the 3 would be a good choice tho.

CoH/CoV if you really care about soloing, it would make you understand what a solo-friendly MMO is...

After playing CoX, I consider every other MMO to be griefing and hurting soloers.

I wouldn't recommend Vanguard.  Even with a "Super PC", you will still run into the performance issues that plague that game.

I played EQ2 around its launch also.  Recently I downloaded the trial and gave it another shot.  Crazy difference...the game is so much better than it used to be.   The downside is that the download through Launchpad takes forever, and the trial has a 10 level limit.  Its worth checking out.

SWG is still a decent game, but has population and content issues.

    I never played Final Fantasy.

Can't really speak for WoW either.  I quit before BC came out, was one of the best things I ever did.  Got caught up in the raiding timesink and was letting it run my life.

Oh, if you haven't already, apply to the betas for Gods&Heroes, Age of Conan, PotBS and Warhammer.  All these game are or will soon be accepting beta players.

Good luck wherever you end up.

I've played all the MMO's you've mentioned, save for Vanguard.

Right now, I'm playing Everquest 2.  I'm interested in roleplaying, and it happens to have a lot of roleplayers.  The game has been vastly improved since launch. The Echoes of Faydwer expansion has really expanded on the content, and given EQ1 players with a healthy dose of nostalgia.  RIght now, I've turned off the experience I gain from killing mobs, and can only gain experience from quests/exploration.  It's given me a chance to see a lot of the new content.

I haven't played much of FFXI since they added three new classes, but I really think it's a lot of fun.  I know it's probably the biggest grind game out there, but I actually enjoyed the challenge (though I didn't get out of the late 30's when I played).  Maybe it was just my server, but I always felt like there was no influx of new players.  In some ways, it's tough to break into the FFXI community, because everyone has already maxed out on a few jobs.

I only played SWG for the roleplay in the first place. As I understand it, most of the roleplayers have left. They got rid of what I liked about my class (Doctors), the ability to hang out and heal people in the Medical Centers...so I have no interest in returning, and couldn't advise you on going back.

WoW was fun. But I had a hard time identifying with one of the classes.  Everquest 2 has 24 classes (granted, most of are pretty similar in design) versus WoW's fairly unique 9 classes.  I don't think I'd go back.  I really enjoyed the Battlegrounds, but that was the only PvP that really interested me.  WoW's PvE doesn't interest me as much as FFXI or EQ2.

I'll pick up Vanguard some day.  I don't know if now's the time to do it though.  It's gotten a bad launch reputation, but things change. Anarchy Online has a horrible launch, and today, I think it's turned out to be a fairly successful MMO for being in a niche genre (Sci-Fi).  I got into Beta, and my 128 MB 5900 XT + 1.6 Ghz P4 + 1 Gig RAM machine starting smoking.  So if you want to play, you'll need an excellent system (mine will be soon replaced). EQ2 ate up the best systems for a year and a half or so, and then they starting fixing it to make it more accessible to lower level machines.  EQ2 plays better on my system today than it did two years ago, and I imagine, Vanguard will do the same.
