On Gareth want to start a new toon with me? I'm going to come back to DAoC out of complete boredom and don't think I can make the grind to 50 alone.

I think you will find starting a character is no longer a grind really, especially on gareth where you are more likely to find people your level to group with. You can level so fast its a breeze. A friend of mine go to 50 in less than 3 days /played.

Be sure to hit the battlegrounds for levels 5-9, 20-24, 35-39, 45-49... Those are the populare ones, but usually you can find a few people in nearly all of the them.

You will definitly not be alone while leveling.

    Good luck and have fun.

All Battle Grounds and New Frontiers are double XP. In the past they had classic zone or SI zones double XP as well, so ask around. Plus you get a free level every 7 days or something like that if you. You can pretty much go from 40-50 on Catacombs quests and champ quests or just pvp.

Oh, goood. Any advice on what realm to pick? I a level 42 hunter and 43 bonedancer, I want to make a toon on Albion since that has been my favorite one. Is that dumb to do? Are they weak in PvP(I remember they kindof were) and are they the least populated?

Are you sure you are not mixing up Alb and Mid?  Mid has bonedancers and hunters and are underpopulated.  Albs are like roaches.  You find them everywhere and as soo as you squash one you find 5 more.

Play what you like. There isn't anything inherently weak about Albion. If you are building an 8man you just need to be aware of your limitations and strengths. It all comes down to the player's skill in the end. I was in CV the other day on an alt and an 8 man alb group wiped the floor with 2 fgs of mids by extending us and baiting all the dps way out of heal range. (I play a healer)

Anyone who claims all albs are like "this" is a troll and can be ignored. However for the most part albs tend to be less likely to build 8man groups. Personally I think this has a lot to do with the fact that the main source of speed is a stealth class and doesn't need to play with the visibles. The second problem is that clerics are the primary buffers and primary healers and you can't spec for both. They bring nothing else to the table. So it's probably very hard to find people willing to play one in rvr.

Albs tend to be caster heavy and light on healing in CV at least, as a result they band together for survivability.

If you want to solo a lot or play with the invisibles then all of this doesn't matter.

There was a time when Alb was the weakest realm in the game if you were talking 8 vs. 8 fights and this was rightly so as Alb has always had the largest population by far, generally 1.5-2 x the next most populous realm. These days however, Albs can put together an 8 man group that can roll just about anything they come across that isn't twice or more their numbers, like Mid used to be able to do in the first couple years of the game. Theurgists are running rampant in the frontiers since the animist nerf as they're once again the only pet spam class that cast pets until they run out of power. Fire wizzies are still the highest damage ranged casters (as opposed to PBAOE) in the game. Sorcs with bolt-range mez are always in demand in groups and a well-played sorc can roll whole groups solo...but that takes a lot of practice and some RAs to pull off.  I've heard a lot of people say that Cabbys aren't all that great in RvR, yet I see them out there. Necros...well, they're the ultimate DAoC farming class and if you play them right can be effective in RvR too, but not many Albs ever seemed to figure that out....what a surprise that is...lol. There are some great people in Alb, you just have to sort through all the 12 year olds to find them :).

If you are going to amke a new avatar and don't care where then I just started on Ben.... Arrrg forgot the name.

Anyway, I just started the 14 day trial and am intrested on what and how all this works.  Are there any use for moonstones, Rubies, emeralds....  etc?  I have a lot of these now but can not find a use for them other than sell them to a NPC merchant.

Also,... where the heck can i buy woolen thread?  Im in Hyper (a celt druid)

Sell the stones, they are just loot.

Woolen tread can be bought in most towns on merchants.
