WoW - Northrend & Other Lore

One for all the WoW lore freaks out there, but exactly How complete is Azeroth at the moment? What would you love to see added? How can the lore be expanded on as part of WoW? With a few more areas of Azeroth itself opening up as part of BC, it got me thinking about exactly how much of the world remains uncharted

My WoW lore is quite sketchy as I never played WC or WC2 and haven't read any of the books so all I know comes from WC3 and WoW itself.

That said, I know we're currently missing the following areas

Gilneas - A Walled off human kingdom, somewhere near Hillsbrad. Rumours are it's to be added in a future expansion and will have been taken over by Naga or Worgen

Northrend - Arthas himself in this desolate wasteland and will surely be the last item of content ever added

Kul'Tiras - This Island kingdom is still meant to exist somewhere off the coast off the South Western coast of the Eastern Kingdom.

Mount Hyjal - One of the biggest zone placeholders in game at the moment socould be a LOT going in there

Nazjatar - Aquatic Home of the Naga. It was mentioned by the dev's at Blizz con that Nazjatar and Northrend were planned for future expansions but little more has been said since BC.

There's also unaccessible areas of the world map North of Redridge Mountains, East of Wetlands and Northwest of Stormwind. Finally, there are a few other places that are known of in lore such as Pandaria, the sunken part of Kalimdor, The Goblin island of Kezan and Undermine, the Broken Isles, Balor

Then there's the more interesting question of future playable races. Worgen, Naga, Furbolg, Pandaren(If these EVER turn up I will cancel my sub!)Ethereal and Goblin have all been rumoured.

Personally, I'd love to see Naga and Worgen included from a lore perspective and Northrend is definitely the one place I'll be very annoyed not to see implemented before the plug is eventually pulled on WoW.

This was extremely interesting and quite refreshing, for a change.  Yes, I would truly be interested in more lore from this game...anyone care to ad any input?

Looks like Blizz are letting some Zul'aman details trickle out now. Personally, i'd love this one to be a 10 man as there's an abundance of 25 man raids now.

  • There's also more stuff they can do with the portal. If you remember in the lore for the strategy games, there are countless worlds out there besides Azeroth and Draenor. I've always been curious where the Death Knights, the originals, ended up. I heard they were supposed to have been led to their own little world by Terron Gorefiend, but since I haven't tromped around Outland I don't know if this is true.

Why should Northrend be the last Area added?

I mean, Arthas is basically a Loser, compared to Illidan, and since you can already kill Illidan, Arthas should be no Problem whatsoever *shrug*

i read a dev interview where they said they were waiting for players to be at least level 90 before they could kill arthas

Arthas beat Illidan...without the powers of the Frozen Throne that he later gained. So, it stands to reason he's tougher than Illidan now.

The only fight between Arthas and Illidan was won by Arthas and that was before he became the Lich King when he was trying to reach the Frozen Throne. He was also severely weakened at the time because of the attacks on the Frozen Throne. At full strength and with the powers he also gained as Lich King there is little doubt he is more powerful than Illidan.

reports are that a new folder was added to the MPQ in the 2.1 patch which is named Expansion02 (Expansion01 was the name of TBC folder, and it was in the client for a long time before TBC was released) which includes a map for Howling Fjords (an area in northrend)

if this is indeed accurate then we shall soon see northrend
