Count me as one of the returning veterans. I play on Bloodfin and the server actually has quite a lot going on. No, it's not like it was pre-cu, but of the people that are there, they're quite active. PvP happens on Bloodfin. Now I just need to get my CL80's to 90!
If you can't see the marked difference in more people playing, then you must be running around with your eyes closed. Its very clear - also on the forums, there's a lot of veterans coming back to try out Beast Master. Overall, chapter 6 has been a great success and could go on to be the most important chapter that changed Galaxies, moving it in the right direction
You must live in a fantasy world. I've been playing for a long time and you are wrong. It's D.E.A.D. I logged back on the see what all the talk was about. Nothing. Same as it's always been. DEAD. Just because you see 2 more people than you did last week doesn't make for a makred difference.
This topic was asking for it, every flaming vet under the sun will feel it is his duty to come in here and spread their so called "devine" knowledge on the game's population. Vet's GO AWAY !!! i personaly have seen a huge increase in population over the last few months, so i really don't need you to come in here and start predicting the worse case senario. get a life, go play wowsux or something .... 1+1 = 2 every current player playing has definitely noticed a jump in population, and the announcement was not a surprise to anyone, 1+1=2 , what is difficult about understanding that ?
Why don't i see that jump then? Did they all skipped Tarquinas or something? Seriously, what i really have seen increasing are the credit sell spammers in front of the Mos Eisely Starport. From 1 to 2 and yesterday 3 at the same time.. My ignore list is growing more than my friends list.. it should be vice versa

I agree. I finally resubbed after my trial was over. I'm on Bloodfin as well, and it's quite populated.
Oh, and to all the NGE-haters that come here and spam your opinions... <points to the SWG Veteran Refugee forum> that is where you belong. You're hate-filled, irrational opinions are worth less than salt to us.
I came back recently after not playing since the CU came out.
At first, it was definetly a bit of a ghost town on Chalistra. I rolled characters on Bria and Bloodfin and the results were slightly better.
Since the publish it definitely seems to have picked up. Now i am back on on my original server I used to play on (Chalistra) and I see a lot of people lately. The busiest places are Mos Eisley as many people have mentioned, but Theed is looking busier again and there is some semblance of life throughout the game again.
That said, this was all sort of expected. The (re)introduction of a CH type profession was supposed to recapture peoples interest. Reading various posts, it seems many people were curious and I expect there is a healthy share of reactivated accounts for people who want to check it out.
So, with that in mind, I would be curious if the "thousands" referenced were completely new accounts, included returning vets, or if it even included stationpass holders who had not created SWG characters in the past. Better yet, is it thousands of new toons or thousands of new players?
In the end, some of the scenarios don't matter. In a game like this, perception is reality, and if a player perceives it is busier, who is anyone to argue.

There's been a steady rise of new and re-joining players in SWG for at least five months now. Several of the servers are hitting heavy now.
Again because they say Heavy doesn't mean it's Heavy. SOE has and will again adjust the metrics the system uses when it reports a server as light, Medium and Heavy. Since they adjust it Heavy can be 1000 players, medium 600 and light 200. Who knows we do know that it doesn't take a highly educated person to log into the servers and check for themselves. While i can say i have seen more people playing it's nowhere near the numbers we had before. I doubt we will ever see those numbers again unless they merge servers.
Jesus H Christ, would you people give it a rest. I play the game on Kauri and Bria. Bria is suppose to be the most populated server now. From someone who STILL PLAYS total number of people I see on Bria is 50 - 80 people in three given areas: Mos Eisley Starport, Mos Eisley Cantina and Rori Restuss. Between 10 - 20 of those are AFK. The rest of the planets are DEAD except for a sporadic 1-2 players running around.
Trying to bring in unknowing people with population lies is wrong. Those are the numbers period, I play, well really just fart around. Jump in pay your $15 bucks and thats what you will see. Now if thats what your looking for in an mmorpg then go for it.
From someone who would love to see 1000's more on one server, really the game dead.
if you only see 50-80 people on bria, then you are either lying, or you only go to three places, and play in teh morning when noone is there.
i play on bria, and i saw 80 people in mos eisley alone yesterday around 12pm ESt. and thats a west coast server, and they werent afk.
the thread that everyone is reading, is the question that i posted to DM. I asked him speciffically because i had saw so many people comiing into the game lately on bria alone. then i asked him if they were trial accounts and he said no.

It's because the NGE-haters, like crlumpkin want to spout stuff that makes NGE look as bad as possible. More than likely he has never actually logged into the current game (post ch.6). Even if what he posted was post ch.6, his limitation of searching is minor. He only states that he searched 3 areas... 2 of which was within 1 city on 1 planet. The real truth is that not everyone is in a city. A lot are zooming all over the other planets... doing either legacy quests, missions, or now harvesting species DNA for BM. Therefore, his small section of "searching" is flawed. But that's what a lot of the NGE-haters do the best... bend (almost to the breaking point) their "findings" to become as anti to NGE as they possibly can be.
I was similar to an anti-NGE'r not to long ago until I actually tried the game post ch.6. I have to say that what they posted wasn't anywhere near as bad as the anti-NGE'rs spin it out to be. And, that includes the population quotes... true, they aren't anything like pre-CU, but they're not barren, or dying, as some of the anti-NGE'rs make it out to be. So, just ignore their hate-filled dribble that they try to post on this forum... or remind them that their place is over in the vet's refugee section.
Onec again, we have sad over-exaggerations on both sides.....
The servers aren't booming. Yes, they've had a bit of a rise since Chapter 6. No, they haven't gained thousands of subscribers. The population is still moderate on the active servers, and sparse on the lighter ones. There are more than 100 people playing almost 99% of the time on most active servers. No, there ain't 5000 on any server, And I doubt that it ever usually gets close.
Come on people, neither of you extremes are right, try stating something near the facts once in a while.

The problem is, no one truly knows what the exact populations numbers are, except SOE. And, they are not talking. I've seen quite a few posts that the posters basically say they go to cities X, Y, Z, etc... and see such amount of people. There is a couple of problems with that.
At any point in time, the poster can only observe the people that are directly around them at that point in time. Therefore, the poster cannot view any other people that are in other areas at that point in time. This is especially true with players who are out in the wilderness or other cities, doing legacy quests, missions, etc... The poster cannot see those players while the poster is in the poster's current area.
People are usually in constant motion. Therefore, if the poster moves to another spot, the poster may or maynot see players that were in the area before the poster arrives at the new area. Also, the poster may see the same players in the new area, as those players migrated similarly with the poster. This is especially true when a poster takes a shuttle/starship to a new city... the poster may see similar faces in the new city, but miss the players that just left before the poster arrived.
It's a continuous process. Therefore, these population numbers that people spout are just extremely rough guesstimates. Which means that, more than likely, none of them are actually true... especially the overexaggerated ones.

I will be glad to meet you in game and stand side by side and take screen shots of every city and cantina at peak times, that you pick. Then we can post them on here if your that confident. I didnt think so.
Why is populations even an issue to many? All i can say is my server is vaccant but doesn't mean others arent. We all know there isnt as many in SWG as there was prior to the CU or after the NGE launched. Questions should be which server is the most populated for those players who do like the NGE. The ones that don't like me really don't care who plays and who don't.
All things point to another big change to draw at least more people back in. If you think that change isnt coming look at Beast Mastery, it is a little of the precu be and CH with a tad of the CU and a smidge of the NGE.
Honestly i dont see why population keeps popping up every week. It's the same he said she said BS. Just grab a free trial go scouting around and form your own opinion. No side believes the other so it's kinda a mute point. Just because a SOE dev says something don't make it true either. He like many are biased(me included) so just stop with the post about it and go look for yourselves. i know

Wow... I actually agree with you on everything. That's probably the first time that has happened. Kudos on a good post.
As I pointed out earlier, only SOE knows truly what the sub numbers are, and they are not leaking that information. Really, it's trivial to argue about population. Everyone has their own opinion on it, but no one truly knows for certain. It's all just speculation.
I really could care less about whether its nge or pre cu. Thats what is happening on the server period. If you would have read my post, every city was visited and I put what I see every night. Umm... look to my post that is right above yours. It basically refutes any of your "dead server" claims that you make. A city is only a small part of a world, and there's a whole lot of worlds in SWG.
Ya know...I haven't posted on these forums in a while but I feel that I need to say something.
It gets pretty frustrating to see people who recently started playing SWG(post NGE) make comments insulting the people who played before NGE. I'm refering to the pre-NGE players who no longer play and/or express their anger towards SOE, here. The majority of the angry pre-NGE players aren't angry because the game pales in comparison to what it used to be. They are angry at SOE as a company. Actually, some are even angry at Sony as a whole. Newer players can't possibly understand why pre-NGE players are angry but they still talk trash. Telling "Vets" where to go or throwing insults at them only shows ignorance. Pre-NGE players were completely screwed by SOE. SOme will say "Let it go". It can be argued then that "letting it go" only makes the problem grow worse. Alot of pre-NGE players post their comments and argue their perspectives for no other purpose than to help inform SWG curious MMO players.
Do you guys remember when SWG was released? The game had so many bugs that SOE turned off the in-game utility for players to report bugs. When players created a ticket to report missing items or even deleted characters, CSR replies were "Working as intended". (some of you will remember those times and are laughing with me right now)
Do you guys remember when Trials of ObiWan was released? Most of the new players won't. One of the HUGE selling points was some nice Creature Handler benefits. Some jewelry, if I recall and a small revamp. The CH forums were blazing with questions regarding the value of these items. SOE said nothing during this time. A week after (not much longer than that) NGE comes out of the blue. Removing Creature Handler from the game. SOE knew how excited people were but they didn't want to hear it. They only wanted to hear was cha-ching!! To top it off, initially, SOE refused refunds on the ToOW expansion.
Do you guys then remember when Sony music released the music CDs with the extra software that attempted to open a backdoor on EVERYONE'S PC that inserted the CD. It didn't even prompt the user to install it. The average user was none the wiser until the news blew up. Sony denied it for months. Guess what, they were lying.
My point is, try to understand where some of the "Vets" are coming from. Some, I will agree, are just plain ridiculous. Alot, however, are just standing up for what they believe in. I, for one, am not someone to encourage anyone to not stand up for what they believe in.
Thanks for listening,
Threetwosix
I think this deserves a new topic. Copying to new thread. Sorry for the double post.
Of course current players will tell you the place is alive and well. But if you believe that then someone has a bridge they liked to sell you.
Most returning players have seen firsthand the REAL truth and that is the servers are dead. Just come to any forum detailing SWG and you'll see the discontent, the complaints and what's actually happening. And this isn't from swg fanbois base either but from returning vets checking out the game for whatever reasons. These are the ones with nothing to gain by telling you what they've experienced unlike the current group who desperaely want more players to join in.
I returned to play and in the two weeks I remained there coming in every single day the most I ever saw were 2 other players in one spot and this was at Theed's spaceport. One was afk and the other was running from one side to the other. Although, you may see more players then this, you'll still see just how dead it really is.
But don't take my word for it, try it and you'll see for yourself then you'll also come here complaining of the population like just about everyone else who has returned and left again.
refresh my memory - wasn't CH (along with Ranger) removed because so few people ran them? why would so many people be coming back for professions/skill trees they didn't run before? I find it plausible that there is the usual new-chapter population surge, but I don't find it logical that so many would come back to try a skill tree relatively no one was playing pre-NGE. If anyone has any observations on other reasons for the purported population surge, please share them, I really have a hard time believing it is primarily the BM BS.

He like many are biased(me included) so just stop with the post about it and go look for yourselves. i know
As I pointed out earlier, only SOE knows truly what the sub numbers are, and they are not leaking that information. Really, it's trivial to argue about population. Everyone has their own opinion on it, but no one truly knows for certain. It's all just speculation.
