Is Blizzard begging people to play WoW???

Just wondering cause in my mailbox today was Burning Crusade expansion. Not a trial, or a gimmik cd... the actual game. I would never play WoW again, so I am just gonna put it on ebay for 5$ or sumthin. Are they giving away the game to get people to paly again since WoW is getting PWNED by LOTR???

I think Blizz is looking at lapsed accounts, sending out the 10 day trial, hoping to get people to reactivate their accounts for a bit. They figure they can make the money back just as they do with regular trials. I haven't done this yet, is the BC disk the real deal or do you have to buy it retail to activate it if you reup your account?
Pretty standard marketing, try to get vets back. SWG recently did this with a vet trial.
CH, Jedi, Commando, Smuggler, BH, Scout, Doctor, Chef, BE...yeah, lots of SWG time invested.

I too got the 10 day trial CD for Burning Crusade. It's legit. You just have to install it, play free for 10 days, then via CC, pay $39.99 and reinstate your account. Currently, I am back playing WoW because of this BC free trial.
Regardless of what anyone says, it is a good game, it just isn't for everyone. Step back from it for a time, and look at the game Blizzard created. For me, it's quite often the people playing an MMO that ruin it for me. LoTRO's beta did not impress me at all, so I'll be skipping that game entirely. I'll be testing Tabula Rasa next.
That's pretty much what I figured.
I played WoW for the freebie trial, then the full game for three months, and about two and a half months in I found it got boring. I mean, even playing different classes, there was nothing to really do but kill mob, get loot, repeat, rinse.
Blizz hopes to get back lapsed accounts with new stuff that will probably entertain you for a short period, but you'll likely get bored again.

The only game getting "powned" is that sad sack Vanguard, Saga of FLOPS!
It is a promo 10 day trial of BC, yes I got one too. You can't sell that thing on ebay, or a copy of Vanguard for that matter, no one would buy VSoH.
These same people said WoW was losing players when they had 3 million playing, then they said it again when WoW hit 6 million. Now WoW is nearer 9 million and Vanguard Flops so Hard has 35k, ROFL!!!

tell me sebbonx...err i mean krenalor, what does this have to do with this thread you are hijacking? there are plenty of i hate vanguard threads on the vanguard forum, why dont you and all your alts spread your pointless hatred there?
we have been hearing for years that wow is losing subs but i have not seen one server closed or merged and until then i think the argument that wow is losing a lot of subs is null and void.
My guild just quit WOW en masse a few weeks ago. Basically about 30 of the core players decided they'd had enough of TBC/Kara etc and cancelled their subs and are now either playing LotRO or some other game. (about 20 people remained behind to keep playing)
They're really just killing time until AOC comes out (or WAR next year)

So I just checked my mail and Blizzard has mailed me a DVD with a 10 day trial of The Burning Crusade on it... are the servers losing pop or something? I mean I haven't played WOW in close to a year, and I'm just wondering why they're acting like AOL by mailing free software to me.
In all seriousness though even SOE has tried this kind of thing with the SWG vet trials, putting whether it is legal or illegal aside I think that it IS a sign that subscriber numbers are dropping especially with the aggressive marketing campaign Blizzard pulled when it was first released.
Quoting people doesn't make you clever, in fact, it makes you all the more stupid for not bothering to read the quotes you post in the first place.
