WAR on Mac

Since EA announced they will be creating games for Mac's today, It may very well be possible that we'll see WAR on Mac sometime in the future.

What you guys think?

I really couldn't care. MAC's are not made for gaming. According to alot of MAC users, MAC's are superior to computers and run faster... but whenever I try to play a game on a mac, it runs MUCH slower than on a PC. So, I suppose it's good that it will run on a MAC, and it will then have a larger player base... but I'm not really excited or depressed if they are on MAC's... I'm indifferent.

I think a lot of PC hostile Mac users would love the fact to have a wider selection of MMOS and just computer games in general.  I personally use both types of computers and I get along with both very fine. Like stated above it would increase WAR's population, not by much though.

I think in a youtube video with Paul Barnett, he did mention something about being told to keep WAR a bit on the portable side "in case" they need to port it to other OS's.

I think WAR will indeed go Mac.

Is mac porting a big deal anymore? I thought mac users (with intel chip) could play pc games if they have bootcamp and a copy of windows to install. Yes? No? Maybe so?

Yep.  Thats how I play LOTRO, Battlefield 2142, Guild Wars, and Oblivion.  Bootcamp into WinXP, and works great.  But, I'd much rather play it natively on the Mac OS.  I have everything set up to my preferences on the Mac side, so only use the WinXP for gaming, which makes it a pain.

Moreover, if it is ported to Mac OSX, who knows - they may go for Linux!   Yes, lol, I am a geek.

ick, i hate macs, a PC can do everything a mac can and then some. Games are a PC thing , just cause MAcs got wow doesnt make them a gaming machine.

Sure my phone has games to, doesnt make it a gaming machine either.

Remember macs are computers marketed to people who dont know how to work PC's

Please cut this pc=better than macs and vise versa BS. Macs and windows are targeted to different people and for different needs. Don't get pissy because Macs can't play that many windows games and therefore should be shunned it's a different system thats geared more towards work than everything like a windows. And I'm just going to throw this out there but if you noticed every time Mac comes out with a new system sure enough windows comes out with a new one at least a year later? Just look at OS 10 and Vista they're pretty much identical only Vista is just a more bastardized version of OS 10.

Macs are easily targeted towards people who cant use PC's, look at the commercials, they try bragging about how easy they are all the time.

It simply comes down to this, What cant a PC do? What can a Mac do? Who can do more? and its PC since it can do everything a mac can and then some.

ALthought i will agree with the one commercial where they bust vista, god what a horrible operating system windows made.

Other than games I don't see what PC's have that makes them any different between macs.

Given EA's recent announcement this is definitely something we're looking into. :)

There we go, wise words from the Richard.  I've nearly got more Fame on GuildCafe than you Richy boi, better watch out!

I never used to care one way or the other about the whole, MAC vs PC thing, but now I despice MACs, just because of those stupid commercials. They show the MAC as a "hip young trendy guy" and the PC as some fat retard.

I'll agree with you there. The only commercial I'll agree from those is when Windows get Vista... Because I have Vista...

From what ive heard there was a time period,im guessing 85'-92'.That the Mac was the dominant gaming machine. When I got my first PC in 94" the computer game stores(yah stores wall to wall with pc/mac games used to exist) were at about a 60/40 split on pc/mac games. They were actually still coming out with mac only titles til about 95'.

Just  sharing some historical moments. Now please don't start calling me ancientpup.

its a downright shame that PC games are loosing their retail footprint nowadays.

my local gamestop flat out stopped selling PC games altogether except for a select few..wow and the like.   heres to hoping pc gaming makes a comeback.

Not to go off to much on a tangent, but Apple definitely makes some things MUCH easier than Windows.  But in terms of actual users, I know many many Unix/Linux system administrators who go Mac because of it's friendliness to BSD.  The ability to install X and open source software makes admining with it much easier.  Plus being able to drop down to a terminal with BASH at your fingertips is ultra-powerful.

I dont mind apples at all.  The main thing keeping macs from getting further into the gaming mainstream is the price.  for the price of a mac that can play games descently, you can get a pc that will blow it out of the water.  i mean just compare a $2000 mac to an average $2000 user built PC.  PC has better performance hands down.  once people start buying macs more..the developers will follow up with more games, especially since macs now have intel processors.  problem is an expensive mac doesn't have the performance gaming wise, that a gamer expects from their system.

There really isn't a comparison between Mac and PC(despite the commercials). They are both used for different things. Mac for office and design and PC for home tasks and obviously gaming and they have also done their part in contributing to the office aspect. If you don't know, Mac and PC don't really have a grudge or rivalry. Take a look at Steve Jobs' and Bill Gate's interview at D5. They are actually really good friends and know that owning two businesses that make the same products is of course gonna cause some competition. The commercials are only a joke and to be taken light heartedly. I own a PC and use it for college and occasional gaming, but I'm sure if I was to work in a office or some kind of professional setting, I might be using a Mac instead. So stop being so harsh with the comparisons. I only posted this thread because I thought that putting WAR on the Mac was a interesting topic.

Maddox says it all.  Other than that, who cares?!  Nothing bad will come of EAMythic making a port of WAR to MAC.  It will actually be for the better.  Anyway, please close this topic, for this thread has now been owned.  kthxbai
