Disturbing news from AE HQ

Could this be the beginning of the End for HZ?

Reports are coming in from the various Horizons forums that AE has laid off up to 50% of its current staff including two of its World Masters, Shetani and Jason Waldrom , and Gale AE's Community Manager.

While the 50% reduction is still a unconfirmed rumor, It has been confirmed from Shetani, Jason, and Gale that they no longer work for AE.

    Doh, I hope it doesn't crumble just yet. I helped test the game and saw plenty of potential even though they released it way to early (as seems to be the latest trend in these games). It has some great ideas and it would be a shame not to see how it develops a few months to a year down the road.

    Didn't they do this like a month after release also? That would mean they have 25% of their staff from release...

    Hmm, now that you mention it that does sound familiar, but I may be thinking of some other beta I was in.

    Anyways, it looks like this wasn't just rumor. They've come out and publicly acknowledged that some people are no longer working for them. It's sad to see people leave a game, but I guess one can only hope that AE knows what they're doing and that the decision does in fact help them out in the long run.

    This is most likely correct. Due to the low player subscribe base it'd be hard to support a large group of coders each having a relatively large salary. They probably made some decisions to hopefully turn it into more profitable venture.

    Now we are just waiting to here when or how they are going to pull the plug from David Bowman image

    I am sure he will spin it, like he did when he said, "No, the server populations are up"
