Every alliance of any significance is already fighting and BoB pets already controls most of the space in the north. None of the alliances still fighting in the north can field a capitol fleet of any significance so there is no realistic way for them to capture any territory or even hold on to the territory thy possess.
Pretty much every alliance still capable of fielding a capital fleet is in the red area in the south and they seem to be struggling just to hold their ground.
I remember talking to Cyvok when he quit Eve. He said you wont miss it. Reading this post reminds me of just how much I don't miss Eve. Wow may be silly but at least it's fun. I'll always miss the great people of ASCN, but not the constant headaches of this so called game.
Cyvok is right... I have not been playing EVE-Online since T20 scandal and honestly I do not miss it at all... I deleted my clients and my characters are on hold ... (some of my friends wanted to take over those characters but I have refused...).
I don't say that I won't come back... if CCP suddenly did the right thing that might bring me back .. however right now I am happy playing WoW and have reached lvl 60 at the Stormreaver server.
I think it would be pretty awesome if BoB starts resembling the Roman Empire. Given their strategy as mentioned before of Conquering Territories but renting the space out to other alliances of corps it very much resembles how the Romans expanded.
Well one thing's for certain, you'll never find another game where you can actually have this situation, but like others have said it'll either collapse or get conquered, or a mixture of the two.
Here's what I predict happening. Greed. One part or several parts of BoB will start to think that they can do a better job than those in charge, and they'll have followers. These will split in a huge separation, and then since everyone is paying so much attention to BoB, once this happens, you'll see the invasions and raiding parties come through BoB territory, previous people that paid taxes to them for space will turn against them, and that'll be that.
Now if this really does happen, it'll be the greatest series of events in the online space in my opinion.
Only in EVE can this happen.

If you play Eve like it's a great game of politics and corporate domination and you are not in BoB, you've lost.
BoB won't be defeated by any external force. As a game without any real challenge becomes boring maybe BoB players will leave or fall out with eachother. But essentially there are enough core Ancients with all the tech, the money and the skills to consistently dominate any noob alliance that ever shows up.
Other games have allowed you to conquer territory. Typically what would happen is that when one force grew so powerful that no one else could gain traction and challenge them is the server would empty and die.
EVE is almost at this point now. Outside the southern coalition there is no one who can field sufficient forces to hold their space for any length of time. Current game mechanics make it all but impossible to build a force capable of challenging BoB without holding 0.0 space, and no one, not even if they all teamed up has the force required to hold 0.0 space if BoB decides to attack them.

actually I still think CCP is worse than SOE. SOE made some bad decisions with SWG, but they were never corrupt. Which one hurts the player base more, actively screwing over the player base by being corrupt in game, or nerfing people....I think the corruption won't go away, while the nerfing is not continuing to be an ongoing event.....

I don't play EvE (beyond the trial for 1 day a while ago that is) but I read alot of forums about it (virtual sociology interests me). Tactically and from history if BOB are as people state them to be, they will destroy themselves in time, its human nature.

Eve has a bright future ahead of itself, and worrying about 0.0 politics is just dumb, it will all sort itself out in the long run.

when you say that the only incident of CCP corruption is T20, your mistaken. There have been many instances of cheating and corruption, not just one. We didn't make up the MSN connection that was mentioned by a banned volunteer, and lets us know how BOD can keep in touch with CCP Dev's to ban people who piss them off.....
The goons aren't really all that interesting and don't really show much if any corruption, but there are many other documented instances of cheating....another one was when most of BOD knew of the limit in their system, and planned to let only a few of the enemy thru, bottlenecking them not thru superior tactics but just thru game mechanics that the enemy didn't know about....(having that MSN connection so DEV's can let them know of the limits helps), this was documented as the largest Eve battle that didn't crash the servers (because the dev's superficial limit)....

the volunteer was a real person that was mentioned by CCP, it wasn't completely ficticious stuff made up by goonswarm. This person was told by the BOB person he bumped that he was going to contact CCP via MSN messenger and like normal he ignored them, and didn't bump them, and he even talked to his superior about the incident, nevertheless, he states within 3 hours of the "bumping", he was banned...and his volunteer status etc was removed......
CCP confirms this volunteer was banned because of the bumping, and posted the email with the BOB member swearing up a storm as if it was an official petition, but its pretty obvious imho that they have MSN messenger connection, and that BOB confirmed that they do have actual power because they have DEV backing.....
The have stated so on the official forums (BOB has) "that even Devs need friends".....is it surprising that you can contact your friends with MSN? They flat out told a volunteer he was in trouble, and he himself didn't believe the allegations although he came clean with other things he know that he was keeping quiet about.
You can try and say that their is no proof to any of this, but there is definitive proof when CCP confirmed they banned a volunteer for exactly what the volunteer said, the bumping, and even showed the emails with BOB swearing regarding this....
you can say there is no MSN messenger connection, but BOB has stated on the official forums that they are friends with DEVs, and they stated to the volunteer that they had MSN messenger and were going to contact CCP, and within 3 hours, the volunteer was fired.....
if someone tells you that they are going to take an ax to your car, and then your car has a huge ax sticking out of it, but there are no finger prints and you didn't actually see it, how much proof do you really need that this "someone" ax'ed your car?

Well hmm has BoB won eve? No they have not So far they hold about 1/5 of 0.0 space and have 'rented' out a further 2/5 of 0.0 through conquoring the space then renting it out to weaker corps/alliances. Its a god idea really as they are not too spread out to be too thin to properly police there space and they surround themselves with rent paying Pets who will act as a buffer against real enermies. As to whether they can Win eve well i admit they are very well organised and trained. But in the end 0.0 space is too big for any one alliance to controll unless of course BoB manages to expande by a large margine. As things are right now No it wont happen.
I will also add that Bob has the potential of being a long term occupent of 0.0 if they stay cohesive [and i see no evidence to the country] and dont overeach themselves [Which they havent so far] .

Lets realign this conversation to only about BOB and their domination with the game.....people have agreed that no one besides themselves can stop them? They are taking over 0.0 and renting it to others, so its just a question of time before they own all 0.0 and rent it to others?

At some point we either get bored with it or actually succeed, and then we'll do something new.
We haven't even neraly got direct control over all of 0.0. We haven't even got direct control over half of it. Indirectly we do yes, but even then maybe over half, and indirect control has this tendency to stop functioning if the middleman decides to go do somethnnig else.
All in all, we're nowhere near having won yet, except that in some ways we have already won. We have great fun doing this, people can't stop talking about us and we've played a major role in the background story experience of a complete MMO population.
P.S. Don't take everything Dianabolic says for gospel either. When things like that goonthread show up he likes to stir up shit and send the clueless whiners into an even greater frenzy. Fact of the matter is that probably some devs have msn contacts with some players, some of which are undoubtedly in BoB. Others I know of are (were) in D2, TCF, RA and a whole range of individual corporations across Eve. Alot of other players have contact with devs via IRC, in open channels where pm's are enabled. Whose to say what's being pmd around in there ? Whose to say your corpmate isn't a dev ? Is every icelandic person a suspect (since chances are it'll be a dev, volunteer or related to either by pure calculation of chance) ?
What matters is that you either believe CCP employees (devs, not volunteers) will deliberately mess up their game or not. Even knowing I don't agree with alot of what they do, and have occasionally trolled the hell out of Oveur and pals on their forums (without using an alt), I still don't even need to think about what the true answer to that question is.
BoB has not had any help from devs aside from the time T20 screwed us over by cheating. In fact, when it comes to exploiting I bet we are one of the alliances with the most clear conscience. Our commonly shared culture makes one thing crystal clear : we do not and never will resort to knowingly exploiting or to actions we deem lame. The only exception I know of was POS bowling (lame), and we didn't start it but ended it, which was exactly our intention btw.

Point of fact: The ISD staff member accused of bumping clearly states exactly what he did when the 'bumping' occurred:
He used his ISD command to jump to 1 METER from a dreadnaught
He then flew AWAY from the dreadnaught
He ASSUMES that system lag didn't cause the dread to bump into his ship in the time it took to align or that a network blip didn't cause his ship to bump into the BOB ship.
Why on earth would you jump to ONE METER from any ship? WHY? There is no reason on earth to justify getting THAT close to a ship that takes so long to align. None whatsoever. I'm sorry, that's just a simple fact. In fact there's never even a reason to get closer than 100 meters from another ship. Jumping to 1 meter is not only foolish it is irresponsible. And, frankly, I have no problem believing that he inadvertantly bumped the pilot

CCP didn't just confirm that the player was banned for bumping, they also confirmed that he did in fact bump the ship... and has done so on more than one occasion in the past (and not just to BoB). So before you go defending this ISD Staffer it might be a good idea to read his post more carefully.
NOTE: You do not need to hit 0 meters to bump a ship. Ask anyone who uses bumping as a tactic.
I'm not saying there's no possibility that BoB can contact Devs via MSN. I'm not saying the T20 scandal didn't happen... It did. I'm not saying that CCP hasn't made mistakes. But assuming that just because a disgruntled guy who got kicked out of ISD says something does not make it so.

Any time developers get to close to a small group of players they will inevitably alter the game to favor those players. Sometimes this will be subtle sometime it will be overt cheating, but it will happen.
Because they are close this small unrepresentative group will start telling the devs “what works” and “what doesn’t” , but what they are really saying is “what works for us”. Future changes therefore end up supporting and reinforcing the tactics, play style, and wishes of that small group of players. This eventually damages the game beyond repair in the mind of pretty much everyone else, and while EVE isn’t there yet it’s well down that road.

About the bumping, let me tell you why thi is a big problem. Phisics in eve are a little strange. When u go to 1 meter of a ship u actually go 1 meter from the geometric center of the ship. In case of a dreadnought u are actually inside the dread. That can occur in severe bumping. When i mean severe i saw dreads bumped 1000m/sec when in fact he is slow as a turtle. This thing can get your dread 30-40 km from main fleet with ease, making you a nice ganking pray.
Also dreads beeing in a load in spot(a spot just outside POS guns but in visual ramge so the pos elements can load on all player computers despite the lag in POS vecinity) he ca be bumped into POS gun range. If the pos have scrambling batteries he will be stuck there until those batteries cycle to another target (so the main fleet must get to pos in order to free that dread). Also in case of severe lag , that dread in pos guns range can be in big trouble if he did not activated his tank before. but this is a small probability to be honest. Also ussualy every second counts, as that dread need to warp out and back in. That means a delay, more time for the enemy to respond that can get in nice cyno in the head of dread fleet.
In the end bumping a dread is a big issue, especially for a FC who is in a load of stress, pushed from all around with informations, intel, maneuvers and so on.
As for T20, no BoB knew those Bpo were not legit.
About MSN check the damn DB Preacher response in scrapheap-challange.com.
And what is nice - i do not see any mob yelling in the case of that ISD guy who was spying for Goonswarm. i love double standards.
In the end the only capable enemies of BoB are not complaining, they are killing or getting killed in game. And ussualy they prove to be exetremely effective to spank any mistake.
I do not see the big bad forum warriors doing that.

Reading this post reminds me of just how much I don't miss Eve. Wow may be silly but at least it's fun.

I don't say that I won't come back... if CCP suddenly did the right thing that might bring me back .. however right now I am happy playing WoW and have reached lvl 60 at the Stormreaver server.
Well one thing's for certain, you'll never find another game where you can actually have this situation, but like others have said it'll either collapse or get conquered, or a mixture of the two.
Here's what I predict happening. Greed. One part or several parts of BoB will start to think that they can do a better job than those in charge, and they'll have followers. These will split in a huge separation, and then since everyone is paying so much attention to BoB, once this happens, you'll see the invasions and raiding parties come through BoB territory, previous people that paid taxes to them for space will turn against them, and that'll be that.
Now if this really does happen, it'll be the greatest series of events in the online space in my opinion.
Only in EVE can this happen.

BoB won't be defeated by any external force. As a game without any real challenge becomes boring maybe BoB players will leave or fall out with eachother. I see a lot of people on this thread as me tooers. Me tooer's are people that can't think for themselves, they see issues like the so called CCP corruption and have to chime in when they have no clue about any facts.
Fact, there has been one case of a dev caught doing inappropriate things. That was dealt with last summer. They did not have a policy in place to handle such situation, they do now.
The recent accusations have been proven to be completely false. Total lack of any proof of any misdeeds.
So the futile attempt to put CCP in SOE camp completely fails. SOE has the Sony touch they turn every game they touch to lead.
Nothing wrong with Eve or the developers, in fact subscriptions are on the rise. I consider CCP to be one of the best MMO companies out there. Most other MMO's never comment on any employee misdeeds, they consider it an internal matter and will never publically comment even though everyone knows that such activity does occur. At least CCP is up front about it. That is very rare in the MMO industry.
Is Eve the perfect game, heck no. Has BoB won the game, not hardly, the mighty eventually fall. All this noise from goonfleet basically has no effect on 90% of the playerbase. So basically the game is fine and it is getting better. Revalations 2 adds some nice enhancements, and the following releases have more good things coming.
Eve has a bright future ahead of itself, and worrying about 0.0 politics is just dumb, it will all sort itself out in the long run.

This person was told by the BOB person he bumped that he was going to contact CCP via MSN messenger and like normal he ignored them, and didn't bump them, and he even talked to his superior about the incident, nevertheless, he states within 3 hours of the "bumping", he was banned...and his volunteer status etc was removed......

thanks, I tried to bring up a topic I thought was an interesting topic besides the CCP corruption, but appearantly people who want to bring up stuff wants to derail this convo....
Lets realign this conversation to only about BOB and their domination with the game.....people have agreed that no one besides themselves can stop them? They are taking over 0.0 and renting it to others, so its just a question of time before they own all 0.0 and rent it to others?

At some point we either get bored with it or actually succeed, and then we'll do something new.
We haven't even neraly got direct control over all of 0.0. We haven't even got direct control over half of it. Indirectly we do yes, but even then maybe over half, and indirect control has this tendency to stop functioning if the middleman decides to go do somethnnig else.
All in all, we're nowhere near having won yet, except that in some ways we have already won. We have great fun doing this, people can't stop talking about us and we've played a major role in the background story experience of a complete MMO population.
P.S. Don't take everything Dianabolic says for gospel either. When things like that goonthread show up he likes to stir up shit and send the clueless whiners into an even greater frenzy. Fact of the matter is that probably some devs have msn contacts with some players, some of which are undoubtedly in BoB. Others I know of are (were) in D2, TCF, RA and a whole range of individual corporations across Eve. Alot of other players have contact with devs via IRC, in open channels where pm's are enabled. Whose to say what's being pmd around in there ? Whose to say your corpmate isn't a dev ? Is every icelandic person a suspect (since chances are it'll be a dev, volunteer or related to either by pure calculation of chance) ?
What matters is that you either believe CCP employees (devs, not volunteers) will deliberately mess up their game or not. Even knowing I don't agree with alot of what they do, and have occasionally trolled the hell out of Oveur and pals on their forums (without using an alt), I still don't even need to think about what the true answer to that question is.
BoB has not had any help from devs aside from the time T20 screwed us over by cheating. In fact, when it comes to exploiting I bet we are one of the alliances with the most clear conscience. Our commonly shared culture makes one thing crystal clear : we do not and never will resort to knowingly exploiting or to actions we deem lame. The only exception I know of was POS bowling (lame), and we didn't start it but ended it, which was exactly our intention btw.

I'm not saying there's no possibility that BoB can contact Devs via MSN. I'm not saying the T20 scandal didn't happen... It did. I'm not saying that CCP hasn't made mistakes. But assuming that just because a disgruntled guy who got kicked out of ISD says something does not make it so.

okay, I have no problem with anything you said Taram. I think you covered the facts pretty well. It makes sense that BOB isn't the only ones who are in touch with DEV's also..it also makes sense that not everyone in BOB would be in the know on exactly what transpires...because of infiltration of spies, they keep their member on a need to know basis and often in the dark. I'm sure many BOB members didn't know about T20 until all of us did......
With the bumping, yea, you'd have to think he bumped him if he jumped to 1 meter away....
I personally don't see the big deal of bumping unless it causes you to fail your mission/lose your ship......
like if someone constantly bumped you to help the enemy.........
It will be interesting to see what happens with BOB in the future.....

About the bumping, let me tell you why thi is a big problem. Phisics in eve are a little strange. When u go to 1 meter of a ship u actually go 1 meter from the geometric center of the ship. In case of a dreadnought u are actually inside the dread. That can occur in severe bumping. When i mean severe i saw dreads bumped 1000m/sec when in fact he is slow as a turtle. This thing can get your dread 30-40 km from main fleet with ease, making you a nice ganking pray.
Also dreads beeing in a load in spot(a spot just outside POS guns but in visual ramge so the pos elements can load on all player computers despite the lag in POS vecinity) he ca be bumped into POS gun range. If the pos have scrambling batteries he will be stuck there until those batteries cycle to another target (so the main fleet must get to pos in order to free that dread). Also in case of severe lag , that dread in pos guns range can be in big trouble if he did not activated his tank before. but this is a small probability to be honest. Also ussualy every second counts, as that dread need to warp out and back in. That means a delay, more time for the enemy to respond that can get in nice cyno in the head of dread fleet.
In the end bumping a dread is a big issue, especially for a FC who is in a load of stress, pushed from all around with informations, intel, maneuvers and so on.
As for T20, no BoB knew those Bpo were not legit.

In the end the only capable enemies of BoB are not complaining, they are killing or getting killed in game. And ussualy they prove to be exetremely effective to spank any mistake.
I do not see the big bad forum warriors doing that.
