First and foremost, I don;t have the answer for you in this post.

I am however going to tell you my own experience of leaving WoW...

I played avidly a year [or so] ago made a lot of online friends etc...almost to the extent that I thought I had become "addicted" to WoW [don;t flame me for using the phrase 'addicted'!].

Truth be told I was playing WoW in a very lonely time of my life. And frankly i LOVED it... yes...there was the usual grind to get to level sixty [i was playing before burning crusade came out]...but once I got to level 60 and the entire 'world' was open to me, it was still fun...for a bit.

Then Blizzard went and ganked a lot of the level60 dungeons... they made Black rock spire TEN ppl max...and I was used to playing it 15 etc...and multple OTHER gankings that REALLY ruined WoW for me. Plus [at that time] there wasn;t much level sixty content that was casual... sure Molton Core runs were there...but with a small guild and a job, that was impossible to be a part of.

That caused me to leave....I was angry and upset...so i cancelled and left.

But ALWAYS in the back of my mind i've been thinking... "should i go back to WoW?" Having played/sampled many many MMORPGs since then...nothing has really been as fun as WoW...is that ME or is it the GAMES? as I am getting on a bit... I am wondering if it is ME and my returning to WoW won;t be as good as it was last time.

If i do and it turns out NOT to be as fun as it was last time...i have kind of ruined those memories, or If i DON'T go back... am i missing out on something?

I would say to you... keep on playing. But don;t worry...because iof you DO leave and decide to come back later...then you can. Leave it till level sixty...then see what happens.

As first and most important of all steps, stop asking strangers on the interweb. Start thinking for yourself and make your own decisions. No pun intended, it is really a important thing to do and learn.

NB: I contradict myself here. Don't bother pointing out.

You two guys are thinking way to much about it. I think it would be better if you quit.

If you are bored and not having fun I would pass now and quit... That said it is quite interesting to blaze to 60 which is quite easy solo... If you want a real challenge go play a  graphical MUD called Dragonrealms now that is a fun game with a great community and death around every corner.

I have tried almost every mmo out there, I find the combat systems lacking, well all but EQOA for PS2, now there was a game.  So I keep plugging away trying to find something I like.  WoW is close, but something is missing, but not enough to quit, I mean if I quit, what else is there? Real life? hahah, but no seriously.  Take it in moderation, don't play 10 hours a day, and WoW is fun.  Don't feel like spending 15 bucks a month? Guild Wars is pretty good (too many expansions though).  Solo content more your style, pick up Elder Scrolls, it is a great game.

I would say at your level though, I would get out and explore by yourself, there are many soloable quests all the way up to 70, I know I solo'd my Druid from 1-70 basically, a few instances here and there, but nothing major.  But its much more fun later on, just stick with it for  a bit, but if you're already really bored, I would say don't waste the money.

I hope to find a game like EQOA on the PC, but alas, until then, I'll stay on the WoW bandwagon.

At lvl 34 you are just getting to a point where you can expand and discover a much larger part of WoW. If your Guild od not waht you need maybe look for another with more players in your lvl slot.

Start roaming farther into the new areas you gain acess to as you lvl. Rather than Grind xp to lvl all the time, explore and discover. Again at 34 you have just seen the tip of the iceberg.

On the other hand, if you are dependent on teaming and do not solo much that will definitely create some frustration.

Set specific Goals as you venture out, completing chain quests, increasing your skills, 1st aid, fishing and cooking. Doing that alone wil improve your character and allow you to be more independent.

At  34 there is so much more for you to discover and experience. You may be limiting yourself to repetative activities that become boring. start to wonder beyond your comfort zone and die a few times learning about the more places you have not entered.

Edit: mis-read your lvl, still at 34, I'd give the same advice.

if you have barely enough RAM to make wow run as it is.... consider that there are probably NO OTHER mmorpg that would run for you :D

WOW combat system is child's-play compared to Guild wars. PVP is not really a strong point in WOW. It all just depends on what you want. If your a leisure player I suggest you find something different. If your hardcore into grinding and basically doing the same thing over and over again stick with WOW.

I think he's talking about hard disk space not RAM.

I personally am going back to WoW after yet a fourth stop in the past two years.    I just keep coming back because I can't find a game that has a better UI or smoother game play.    Sure the game is fairly simple compared to other mmos, but that is part of the appeal to me.   I know the game very well and have invested hundreds and hundreds of hours in game.

There are a good deal of games coming out this fall and winter that will I am sure once again pull me from WoW.   Only time will tell if they will finally and completely break me from WoW.   That being said Vanguard and LOTRO weren't able to do such.  Vanguard just being too laggy with my setup and LOTRO just getting old quick to me as I don't care to much for the LOTR lore.

But honestly (at least as far as my opinion is concerned) Warcraft has the best gameplay and stability of any MMO that I have or currently play.   Regardless of what the kids and haters say, Blizzard did make a great game that manages to pull you back in.    You may stop playing WoW, but you never actually quit thinking about it.

To the OP, if you have only gotten to level 34 and are bored at that point then chances are you are going to highly dislike the grind from there to level 70.

Womack does have a good point.  I guess a few other questions to ask are, have you tried multiple classes and both factions?   This could make the game a lot more interesting to you.   Also the grind between 30-40 seems bad as you are hyped about getting your mount, but it isn't anything near like later grinds.

I know from experience though that I have gotten many toons to the mid thirties and given up on them simply because I didn't like the class at that point.   When you reach the thirties leveling does really start to slow down.

There must be something you like about the game if you're even asking this question, so I'll assume your really asking how to enjoy it more.

    I suggest the following:

    1.  Take your time--don't feel like you have to get to 70 next week.  The game doesn't really get any more fun when you hit 70.

    2.  Try different characters, and level when you have rested xp on either.

    3.  Get into a guild, and run lots of instances with them

    4.  Try a variety of things, including PVP, gathering, fishing etc.

I've come back to WoW twice but eventually i lost interest. There are so many more interesting things to do outside than collecting items in a virtual world... i think the main point is that once you start accomplishing real things in real life, you realize that spending 5 hours each evening on a MMO is futile.

It's not even "WoW fault's", it's just the way of life to get bored of certain things when they do not bring anything new to your life.

It's impossible to convince someone playing a MMO that the grass is greener outside however, he needs to live the MMO experience to its full extent (hardcore raiding, alts lvling) to realize it in the end.

    My addiction History:
    >> EQ1 2000-2004 - Shaman/Bard/Wizard/Monk - nolife raid-whore
    >> WoW 2004-2009 + Cataclysm for 2 months - hardcore casual
    >> Current status : done with MMO, too old for that crap.

Be like the majority of the people who still play UO.  They don't actually log in and really aren't active at all.  They just pay every month to keep their house and chat;)

WoW is just a very addicting game for some odd reason. Many times i would find my self running aroung Ironforge cuz i was so bored, but yet for some reason i didnt logg off... I admit that i was addicted, but thankfully i was able to pull myself away from it. I'm happy now that i've stopped. So yes, i think u should quit, it feels good :D

I have been playing WoW for quite sometime now, on and off for about a year. And ym highest charcter is 45. I have made lots of alts. People always say" ur a NOOB," and" you must suck if you dont have a 70 and u have been playing that long". But to be honest, my main goals and to have fun. So if i have to make tons of alts, so be it. So thats my advice for you, go make new characters, and really the only goal you need to accomplish is having fun

Ive been playing WoW for around a month now, and ive already quit. Its just so boring. But I guess thats because i used to play MapleStory, and so playing WoW feels wierd. If I were you I would quit WoW because you are just paying $15 per month for obesity.

Remeber - a MMORPG is a treadmill that makes you fatter.

Are you having a bad day?
Simply Alt+F4 and all your troubles will go away!

Very interesting analogy of MMORPGs. I recommend that you don't quit but give it another month

My opinion is, join again, get to 70, quit, and get it out of your system for good.

I was in beta, and played off and on up until Feb 2007.  When Burning Crusade came out, I got to 70, and then had absolutely no desire to play again.  I don’t even have a craving to go back 4 months after quitting, which is weird because during my WoW history, after the couple of breaks I took, I always had a strong desire to return, and did.  I used to get the shakes being away from it   After BC, it thankfully killed all desires to return.

I experienced the new content, which was fun, and then you hit 70 and realize how boring the game is.  I hate to use the term “grind”, because it’s so vague, but it simply becomes a major grind with everything you do when you max out.  Grind for gold, grind for reputation, grind for the key to the next dungeon, where, you guessed it, you grind some more.

Who knows, maybe in another 6 months to a year, and if another expansion gets released, I’ll try the new content again.  However by then, there are so many good games on the horizon, I doubt I’ll ever go back.  I think I just need a new environment to play in.

I  made a hard decision to quit WoW after almost a year, after realizing that there was almost no mid-level content at all, escpecialy on the alliance side, it seemed.

I quit for CoH, played for 2 months, got bored.

Now I'm back to Maplestory to sate my MMO hunger until Tabula Rasa.
