Proof that they are absolutely completely different! Watch this damn video and tell me if it has anything to do with WoW! In fact, its too good to have anything to do with WoW!

Do not hate it, but instead embrace the diversity.
Try to understand that for a Greenskin, a day that starts by killing someone with your bare hands and ends with those same hands being chopped off in battle is a good day!
There are a whole lot of MMO players that started with WoW, so its basically all they know...and they have been playing it for years. Anything new that comes up for whatever reason they compare with WoW. Not realizing there has been an evolution in the MMORPG genre that has been going on for years before WoW and WoW was just another step in that chain. It just happened to be the most popular for reasons that dont really need to be discussed here.
Almost all of these games take things from the games before them, if they didnt...they would be really risking failure as software development as looks at the past and builds on that. Add some new things, improve some things, but this has been happening for a long time before WoW ever came out.
You could just as easily say "just like EverQuest 2..." but I haven't played it (not alone here) so I wouldn't get the point.
Try to explain why something is fun without comparing it to something.
Compare "Ehhhh It's cool, ok!?" to "It's like Battlegrounds in WOW but not instanced and over a whole zone!"
Witch one is more informative?
Harder, Better, Faster, Stronger
Saying that certain aspects between two games are similar is one thing but its when people say that a game in itself is "just like" another game it comes off as very uninformed and just plain silly.
This seems to happen the most from the "WoW crowd" which is why threads like this even exist. Look in LoTRo or the older Vanguard forums..same thing. Its people blindly saying they are clones without any real comparisons drawn out. I cant really discuss WAR in detail because..I havnt played it...but in almost every case with the other mentioned games you can really rip apart those peoples posts as they are not well thought out, and are very closed minded and usually come from people that dont seem to have any knowledge of the history of the genre.
It comes off as trolling more often than not..even if that is not what the intention was...people reading the comparison posts are often thinking "is this for real?".
The mindset is not unique to gaming though. Its happened with music as well. People screaming that one band is copying anothers revolutionary style not even realizing that the older band was highly influenced by something years before them. Just makes people look silly is what it comes down to.
But, as you did note, comparing features between games is a little different than the whole "WAR is a clone of WoW, OMG!!!".
But ultimately warhammer has been around for 22 years.

WAR looks AWESOME!
Give Blood....Play Rugby!
To have the basis of a comparison mechanism you need to have experienced at least 3 MMORPGs to the relative same extent.
Those that have played just WoW and compare WAR to it (when WAR's not even out yet - to be experienced first hand) , i pitty.
It's obvious! Look at the art direction! ________ was first!
_______ has been around longer.
_______ is so much better than _________.
Fill in whatever you like.
...just because you say it, doesn't make it true...
Maybe you have been out of the loop for quite some time....because at least on this forum, this subject hasnt been brought up by a WoW troll for quite a while....and there hasnt been any reason to post links to videos that are 5+ months old that prove WAR isnt like WoW.
In wow fashion however let me leave you with one passing remark
"KKTHXBYE"
Believe it or not, Games Workshop didn't invent the idea of orcs and dwarves and elves, nor did they invent the idea of having those races in a tabletop game. Ever heard of Dungeons and Dragons? Ever heard of J.R.R. Tolkien's Middle Earth books? You think GW didn't use those sources as a bases for its IP?
So what if Blizzard took ideas from other sources for their games? They were able to take those ideas and turn them into insanely popular RTS and MMO games to which all other games of the same genres are now compared to. And I like those games, so I'm not complaining.
QQ more sad emo *censored*
Go hate-campaign on some other board, you WoW fanboi
edited for internal censoring.
WAR, its content, its campaigns, its lore, its battlefields, its combat systems and the development of the models are all 10 years older than Blizzards Warcraft, which was originally a rip-off setting off Warhammer.
Thank you, Tibu.
Thank you.
If you weren't even alive when Warhammer debuted over two decades ago, please, please, just close your mouth and walk away. Walk away now. Before Alecto, Magaera, and Tisephone fly forth to flay the flesh from your bones and torment you for nigh unto eternity for your hubraic blasphemy.
This is just silly. When Warcraft first came out I remember thinking "Well, War...craft"...I guess they were bummed "Warhammer" was already taken, as they seem to have ....borrowed...so heavily on Warhammers style in so many other areas (visual style, humor etc.). I thought it was obvious back then they were blatently playing on the success of Warhammer?
I think the irony truly is lost on anyone claiming that Warhammer looks like Warcraft and not the other way around, or else they're just very desperate to defend WoW.
I was aiming that at the "WAR is WoW repackaged" people.
Really, I think I'm going to have to go postal if I keep hearing that line.
