Warhammer Online: Meet The Skeleton Archer

The team behind Warhammer Online has just released a new animation showing their new Skeleton Archer model in action - and I have to agree that it looks great!  Here is a excerpt from the official site:


The great thing about the art team's animation work is that the models' movements, (be they human, Orc, Skaven, Undead or anything else) all have a strong character, uniqueness and individuality to them. It's an attention to detail that you usually only find in the very best and most beautiful offline games, not the complex and time consuming world of MMORPG development.

Take just one look at the brittle jaw of this Undead bowman, rattling and shaking as he fires, and you see that all the hard work is worth it though. It breathes life into this otherwise very lifeless chap in the same way that Ray Harryhausen's skilful fingers did on Jason and the Argonaut's Skeletons 40 years ago. It's cool, it's quirky, it's not fluffy high fantasy and it's got that Monty Python weirdness and dark humour that we are aiming for in abundance.

    Skeletons more or less look the same in most games, but as computer power grows, graphics and animations improve. Looks very good.

    haha thats good rendering but the animation is like "chaaa!" from cartman

    dancing kinda, not bad tho, would be tickling in the middle of a battle,

    they need to make better bows tho(i know thats stock) and it would be great if they can actually add arrows in the animation and good physics to it


    Shit i'm bad... I self educated myself in ways of controlling feelings, now nothing feels like it's true... gotta be an assasin or sumtin.

     

    *edit* checked out other animations and characters and i gotta say they suck, creatures and armors are allright but they definitely need someone to help with humanoid(and human like(ELf,etc.)) expressions and movements. They kinda tried a bone motion with the human attack animation where his shoulder bones move, but the bone is not correctly done, bt most of all it's the faces,6 they really look like bad bad ones, like you get in stock of cheap 3d programs.
